O'niel and Farah

I think your drawing a low bow to suit your argument personally.

More likely I think teams have worked us out and we are not responding.

We had 2 weeks of catching new teams in Warriors and Manly off guard.

Now teams are studying us and know where to get us and we are taking soft options.

The halves were reading their own hype and we thought it was easy.

Now the team are getting a dose of reality.

You're right there.
Manly and the Warriors were both ordinary to say the least. We hit them at the right time
Farah doesn't drop all those balls today or throw passes over their heads the backs handling was terrible, and the forwards not much better.
We also didn't to seem to have much of a game plan either.
And the halves have shown that if you get up on them , they panic and have no idea of what to do..

And why do the opposition get up on them?

Wouldn't be slow balls from the dummy half - would it?

Most if not all of them were passes that they were dropped cold, or thrown over the heads of supports mostly and nothing to do with the dummy half.
Also passes that should never have been passed( which happens week in week out.
But that wouldn't suit your atgument would it
Both halves try to score off every tackle, which translates to a lot of lost possession.

So far Buckets has been here 6 weeks or so, and in that time he's allowed the squad to eat pizza and drink booze again

Am i missing anything else?

Seems about as useful as Rocket Rod so far.

I thought that was the football manager does - he is like the social organizer - he is probably already planning something big for Mad Monday.

I know it is a small issue, but I think that Beer and Pizza night did inadvertently over rule the coach, who had a tough time wrestling power away from the players. ALthough no biggie, when I heard it, I thought it was stupid.

I dont think it is too much to link the two things a little (but not entirely)

After seeing the first 2 rounds, I can see why JT doesnt think Farah works for how he wants to play.

I think Farah is playing well individually, but his instinct is to take a bit of time with the ball, and doing so gets us ground alot and is creative (Cherrington is the same), but it takes time away from our halves,
When we dish quick ball with the depth in players in motion we look good. Farah isnt providing the space as well as when we had Halatau and Littlejohn just chucking it out the back . I said at the time I was concerned that Farah coming back may hurt what we did well in the first few games.

I think us not scoring when Cherrington was on was for similar reasons,he played well individually as well, but as a team we are worse.

The insanity that is this forum, It wouldn't a make difference if both JT and RF left today.. We have a small pack hence we are carrying an extra load when defending hence also affecting our attack. Losing Woods will add to the misery for now..

PS Luke Brooks will end up going to the Bulldogs and end up killing it with a decent sized forward pack in front of him..

It is what it is, we can throw the ball around and score some snazzy tries, ultimately we will struggle to close off games this season..

Bottom 4 for sure barring any major injuries 2016.. though seriously the crap that people come up with, it amazes me.

After the first 2 rounds things looked good ..enter O'niel and Farah and the wheels have fallen off.The team looks a shambles and not one win since so please your self what you think but sometimes things are not a coincidence. The undermining of Taylor in the Gold Coast seems now to have set a trend.

loooong looooooooooooooooong bow drawn

The issue here is defence. Our threequarter line, apart from Simona, and our halves, do not make good first contact. They all get bumped off too easily.

It's forcing our edge forwards to defend not just their opposite, but to help their inside and outside defenders as well.

Naiqama has to start to sticking to tackles, especially if he is going to persist with rushing up and in on the third man in from the edge.

Also, we can't persist with being expansive when the forwards are providing no second phase opportunities.

Our props and back rowers combined have less offloads this year than Nofoaluma.

We are getting the go forward in the middle, but we have tired edge forwards and sloppy outside backs that are killing us.

Add to this a first receiver playing more like a five-eighth than the five-eighth and a five-eighth playing more like a halfback than the halfback.

And the fact that in 4 of our 6 games so far, the opposing fullback has run for 197 metres or more (and we lost 3 of those games).

Tedesco has yet to run that much in one game. Is it too much to ask to kick the ball to open space away from fullbacks?

Dropped balls and poor decisions could well be wholly the fault of our halves, but like you, I feel that delivery to them is a big factor on their timing and decision making ability. Cherrington was also on the field mostly when our middle starters were benched, so a bit hard to compare for mine, but happy to give JLJ another stint there to see if it works.

The pizza and beer issue, well it was probably occurring away from the team environment anyhow, but could be seen as undermining, particularly by those not keen on their coach.

"sometimes things are not a coincidence" means sometimes they are!

All this space devoted to nothing more than a rant based on an opportunity to link events to further a bitter opinion. It's good to see the Mad Monk is still alive.

The comments about Naiqama are true If you come out of the line you HAVE to make your tackles and it has to be dominant

Rowdy had the same issues as well when he was at centre , he would come out of the line and smash fresh air
