Panthers' coach Ivan Cleary refuses to apologise for Wests Tigers exit

We also should remember that a while ago now the club commented that Issac Moses had way too much power and influence at the club at a certain time with players managed, both coming in and coming off contract. Yep, WT got burnt and now it looks like Warriors now too.

If Moses was Cleary's manager too, my mind boggles at the conflict of interest there.

Is it true that Josh Reynolds, Moses Mbye and Ivan Cleary all had the same manager at the time of signing for the Tigers? Please tell me it is, cause it would make SO much sense why we bid so much money on these guys when no one else was chasing them. Not to mention the Packer and Matulino contracts too, they're old mates with Cleary.

Pascoe and co. should legit be filing a law suit against this fraudster.

No one forced Pascoe to sign their contracts......

Not to mention all the supporters were on the bus. It’s easy to look back and think he was incompetent and sabotaging the club, but no one was complaining at the time.

The loss of Moses irks me most. We wouldn't have needed Reynolds or Mbye had he stayed.

We should have paid what Moses wanted and be done with it.

Moses was offered 900k a year and sat on it for 12 months. How much more do you think he should have been offered?

I didn't agree with Cleary pulling the original offer. We could of paid that in view of Mbye and Reynolds. I wonder what the discussions were like in the Cleary household vis a vis junior?

I guess what I am driving at is were the long term interests if WTs protected from perceived conflicts of interesrs?

Looking back now , it does look like one big game for the Clearys. If he signs Moses at $900k then there is no room for junior. Then when he worked he could coach junior at the panthers and not here , he hooked us nicely with massive contracts on Mbye and Reynolds.

If Moses signs, brooks signs, what are the chances that Tedesco stays aswell. I hope Cleary and Junior never see a premiership together. I will be cheering every team that plays them in the finals as loud as I cheer when the tigers play.

I agree with this, but I don't mind Nathan, he speaks well, even wrapped us after we played them, I don't blame him for not wanting to leave his mates at Penrith and sticking solid, I think even Ivan thought he would come across to us.
But I hope Ivan never gets to win a premiership, he certainly doesn't deserve it

I couldn't find info on who Mbye's manager is/was, but Cleary and Reynolds do have the same manager (George Mimis).

These are the players managed by Mimis.

When has enough water gone under the bridge before we cross that bridge and get over it?

When we pump the Panthers 50 - 0 in a grand final and win the premiership.

Much more than that....he handed over total power. He sat there and signed off on ridiculous deals.

Josh was offered 550 and short term at Dogs...we offered 750 and 4 years. Even Josh was shocked ('life changing deal') yet Pascoe sat there and signed off on it.

Packer, who I like, had already struggled to make it through a full season ...and we gave him four years.

The length of the deals was always INCREDIBLY risk...Pascoe should have acted in the club's interest and said "wait...four years for JR?! He has broken down three years running! way too long Ivan..."

But instead he signed off on them all.

Everything looks good in hindsight we had just signed a coach that was going to be our saviour a lot of faith was put in Ivan little did we know how it would turn out we were desperate for players unfortunately that desperation was our undoing anyway thats history and like last week pay its gone lets move on.

We have had multiple threads on this in the past but dont forget Pascoe was also getting it from Egan backing up Cleary's request. Hard to say no when you have the 2 x professionals in your ear. Yes, I agree he should have but understand the situation Pascoe was in. Assume he has well and truely from those days.

That's the risk you take when you get a guy who's never be a CEO before . Our previous one had no experience either. Bargain buys.

You are very forgiving Paws.

During that whole scenario, Moses showed what type of person he is.

Personally, I don't want that type of person at West Tigers, and I don't
care how bad, how good or good he becomes. We are better off without him.

I understand he is not universally popular. I believed of the 3, he would have stayed had the original offer not been withdrawn. We wouldn't have needed those other two.

Regardless of how much he's hated on here (by me included) we would be a far better team with Moses here.

No it wouldn't - because he needs the team to carry him.

If the side is getting beaten - he never carries it to victory.

However you keep believing that Avo.

Justin Pascoe has the task of rescuing the embattled Wests Tigers after being announced as the club's new chief executive.

Fairfax Media revealed on Tuesday that Pascoe was the favourite to become the Tigers boss. "He's a sensational appointment," Tigers chairwoman Marina Go said. "We did a global search, we interviewed some fantastic candidates internationally. We are thrilled we are able to find a candidate of his calibre."

He steps into the role following a one-year stint as head of NRL at the Panthers. Pascoe stepped down from his post at the Panthers on Thursday via a club statement: "Panthers head of rugby league Justin Pascoe has tendered his resignation effective immediately. The Panthers have accepted his resignation and wish Justin the best in his future endeavours."

He’s right, he was head of rugby league. Wasn’t CEO. Brian Fletcher is current CEO and before that it was Warren Wilson (when Pascoe was there)

It is the same job. Head of NRL is the Chief Executive Officer on behalf of the board to run the NRL operations. CEO of Panthers (Fletcher) is CEO of the entire Panthers Group (Including a multitude of licensed clubs.

Its the same position as CEO at Tigers
