Panthers dump Segeyaro to reserve grade

James Segeyaro may have played his last game for Penrith after the former PNG hooker was dumped to reserve grade.
>
Segeyaro will pay a heavy price for his infamous night out with Eels playmaker Corey Norman and former Eel Junior Paulo, with the former Cowboy on the outer over his form on and off the field. The 25-year-old is off contract and is no chance of remaining at the foot of the mountains beyond this season.
>
There is a possibility he could leave before the June 30 transfer deadlines if he is able to find a new home in the NRL or in Super League. English club Leeds has been looking for a marquee hooker for some time and their primary target is Wests Tigers rake Robbie Farah. However, Segeyaro could be a more attainable target if a rival NRL club doesn't express interest.
>
Segeyaro recently dined with housemate Corey Norman, Canberra signing Paulo and a group that included former senior bikie Paulie Younan and accused fraudster and money launderer Rafat Alameddin, whose brother Talal is doing time in Goulburn Supermax for supplying the gun used to kill accountant Curtis Cheng.
>
Later that evening, Norman was stopped outside The Star casino during a routine inspection of patrons. The Eels playmaker was subsequently charged for allegedly possessing MDMA capsules and muscle relaxants, despite the attempts of another member of the group, Daniel Petras, to take the fall. Police issued the footballing trio with consorting notices, warning them not to associate with known criminals.
>
It is understood Segeyaro's presence that evening, coupled with indifferent performances since making his return from injury, will result in him moving on at the end of the season, if not earlier.
>
A broken arm suffered in preseason sidelined Segeyaro for the first two months of the season. During his sabbatical, Peter Wallace capably filled the void at hooker before shifting back into the halves to cover for the injured Te Maire Martin. In the process, Wallace impressed to the point where he is expected to earn a one-year contract extension.
>
Segeyaro, however, is now well out of favour. It is a rapid fall for a playmaker who earned Dally M hooker of the year honours in 2014 and was called up to the Australian Prime Minister's XIII last season after switching allegiances from his native PNG. Instead of running out against Melbourne at AAMI Park on Saturday night, he will take on Wests Tigers in the Intrust Super Premiership fixture at Leichhardt Oval.

Posting in this forum because of the mention of Robbie Farah as a Panthers' target.

Note…I was hoping we would discuss more about them getting Farah, rather than us getting Segeyaro.

Seggy > Farah

in terms of who has more of a future left in the game…

He can be lethal at his best.

Although I think his form has really gone off the boil the last 12 months.

Seems to have lost focus as a player.

Is he on the downward slide?

I reckon sometimes players need a change to spark to their best against

Blair was shocking with us
He has improved with Broncos but Yes, still a grub.

I'm sure Jimmy will spark again, people do take things for granted
This will be a kick up his Backside.

I think it said he was a Leeds target, not Panthers. Big bikkies to be made in the ESL Robbie - must be very tempting.

As for Segeyaro, a change of club would probably do him wonders.

I think the panthers are about as keen on getting Robbie as WT are on keeping him. Leeds were wanting him as an outside the cap marquee signing last year, so I really hope that they are still interested.

Interestingly enough saw Seggy on Sat night in the sports bar at the local with a bunch of current Tigers. Might be just a coincidence but thought it was odd at the time. BTW terrific group of young men simply watching the footy together no carrying on or big noting - just like any other group of good mates.

Telltails,

That would be this? It was Liam Roaches Birthday and sirro Jnr, Lovett, Pearce and seggy and co were their. I wouldn't read much into that. Just mutual friends if you ask me.

Talented yes.

Hot and Cold player. yes

Starting to have injuries. yes

Issues with attitude: yes

Do we need some one of his ability - yes

Is he the right mix for our improved culture - No

I would invest my time and money into Liddle and we have Ballin on board in 2017.

A big NO from me.

Pass. I think we need to try out a distributor at hooker rather than a ball runner for a while.

Parra could be after him after letting Peats go given they're now running out IDG and Pritchard. That might explain why they are still trying to shift players.

In the most bizarre chain of events I can remember, it seems that Segeyaro is off to Parra straight away.

Apparently Penrith will cover the bulk of his contract allowing Parra to fit him in.

Probably announced tomorrow or on the weekend.
