Parra interested in Simona

Might be a contingency if Foran changes his mind. Couldn't see them wanting Simona (they already have decent depth in the centres with Falou, Morgan, Champion) unless they were wanting to offload Norman.

I don't think so. Simona would be a massive downgrade from Foran. Don't think Foran's changing his mind, he wants to play under Arthur.

Norman's been playing well this year. Apparently they are looking at Norman for fullback next year, and Hopoate back to the centres

Then what are they doing for a 5/8?

Norman has been close to their best player this year IMO.

They signed Foran to play 5/8

Yeah i agree GNR, doesn't seem logical, probably nonsense or his manager talking things up to get some leverage in contract negotiations. I wouldn't pay overs for Simona, he is prob worth around $300-400k for the next 2yrs?

Oh" right - forgot about that. Thanks

Nice spot to be in then.

I'd like to think given the amount of money the club freed up at the end of last yr, the club would have enough to at least retain the players they want to keep. Especially seeing as how they won't make any signings from outside the club.

Simona had one good year and hasn't done much since. When was the last time he scored ?
Still his better than Lawrence but then most are these days.

They are becoming the next Easts but then again they are backed by a group of millionaires so I guess third parties kick in.

Simona loves the Tigers and would prefer to stay. Unless someone offers him massive coin, I am confident we will keep him.

Simona is a MYTH, 2 good runs his entire career the 2 weakest positions the Tigers have are both centres . Would be very happy if he got on the eels plane.

Yeah I think Simona needs to step it back up in 2015

He's not the worst centre , but he's not the best either on current form

The unlimited cap of some clubs never ceases to amaze me.

How you aren't alluding to Parra. I hate them but they have almost a million left over from Hayne.

Unlimited 3rd party agreements ….

Can't understand why Harry doesn't donate a couple of apartments per year to the WT for 3rd party taps .?

And this is the complete unfairness of the system. If the NRL is really serious about leveling the playing field in the comp, then TPAs should be capped or limited in some way, as well. Multimillionaires shouldn't be allowed to just come in and throw all their gold around to any and every player on the market, with no restrictions.

Wanted to respond to specific posts but just thought I would summarize my thoughts! I believe this situation is one of two:

1\. Eels are looking to move Hopoate on, move Norman to fullback (makes sense) and then sign a new centre. This to me makes the most sense as their cap would be really stretched at the moment. Obviously they can do whatever they like with third party deals but I doubt it would form the bulk of the contract that they would offer.
2\. Complete garbage that has been started by Simona's manager. It's really sales 101\. Create hype and demand that may not even exist.

IMO, Simona is a really good player that hasn't completely hit his straps. I believe this was a structural problem rather than Simona losing form. If he stays injury free we will start to see the old Simona in 4-6 rounds.

I think the reason he hasn't been signed up quickly is because nobody is quite sure what he is worth. He is in that grey stage where his value could go either way…we will see in by mid-year.

Got a feeling in 24 hours time this comment will be proven to be ridiculous. If not 24 hrs the upcoming weeks.

Simona had an awesome break out year in 2013 and by the standards set the year before had a pretty quite 2014.

However i think he is starting to come good from what i saw in the bulldogs game. Looked likely everytime he scooted from dummy half. Racked up 190 metres and looked like breaking the line every time he carted the ball forward.

Whilst our young halves find their feet thats all we can ask of our outside backs. He is doing his job.

Worthy of another contract.

I'm with you Tony.
Seems we had a lot of guys playing busted last year - including Simona.
You can see he's getting back to his best, and when he is it will make a huge difference for us.
Nofos return will be the icing on the cake - with Rowdy moving onto the bench to cover both the back row and backline.

Who is this source.

Always wonder about if player agents put out tid bits to start a bidding war and or the club to take notice.

Unless someone is signed sealed delivered, who cares?

They signed Watmough to $800k with Haynes money, have signed Foran to $1.2 mill Hopoate is on $800k they re-signed Folau and Takairangi are chasing Scott want to resign Sandow who is on $550k.
They can not keep signing high profile players with only average or bottom tier players to come off contract, something doesn't ad up with the way they are going.
