Latest is Simona is off to the Sharks..apparently we cannot afford him due to CAP issues.
Why are we the only club to have CAP issues?
Milky, can you tweet Mayer and ask him whats going on with Simona….
Did this latest come from the Lurker Mole or Facebook?
I knew he should have sung the song better…
Lurker's Monday file
Means his staying
I just hope we retain all the players we WANT to keep.
There should be plenty of $$ in the cap next year as we should let go a few players who are on decent coin…such as Moltzen, Halatau, and a few others.
According to TigerTorch who seems to be in the know, Moltzen is off this year freeing us $350,000\. Blair also frees us up $500,000 as this would have been his last contracted year with us. Next year Lawerence's $600,000 contract will also be finished.
I struggle to see how we could have salary cap issues when you consider the clean out that has taken place over the last 3-4 years.
Excluding Robbie, Lawerence and Woodsy I don't see anyone who would be on more than $400,000 heading into next year with Lawerence's contract to cater for other players heading into 2017.
Ava, Sue, Lodge, Nofo, Moses, Brooks, Naqiama, Taupau, Sironen, Richards, Simona, Halatau, Buchanan, Cherrington, Akuoala, Santi, Fine would all be on $150,000 to $300,000 at the very most.
How that can equate to salary cap issues is beyond me. Eventually we will need to upgrade contracts and make valuable signings but at this stage we shouldn't be struggling to retain a promising junior who at most would be demanding $350,000 per season. Just give him Moltzen's money, at least he would be playing in the top grade on a regular basis.
Given that JT has openly stated that we will be in a position to make signings heading into 2016 and 2017 I would say that our salary cap is in a position to make the signings and re-signings that we want now. Based on Simona's performances over the past month I would have no idea why we wouldn't want him when he himself has stated he wants to stay.
