Solid looking team. I think a run or 2 in Reggie’s will be good for Naden, plus Talau playing ok.
No TDS so the plot thickens eh !

What is everyone's thoughts on Jack Boyling if you've seen him play quite a bit?

I've heard he's a good trainer & clubman, and from games I've seen on Fox & NSWRLTV, he is a solid workmanlike back-rower in both attack & defence and has proven to be able to fill in at hooker if absolutely required.

Could this versatility put him in the mix for a base-contract spot in the top 30 if Blore & Jake Simpkin move on?

I don't think so.
He'd be a career nsw cup player, train and trial type. may at some point get a run in first if a club has a crisis and he fills in.
He's just too small to play in the forwards in nrl. He's like a smaller version of Tumeth. While he competes well and works hard in Cup he's not really dynamic enough to play hooker, has limited ball playing and doesn't' run good lines like some other second rowers like BWM.

Has anyone seen much of Rua this year? Sounds like he has been injured a couple of times. I wonder where the rise of Da Silva leaves him?

He's a good reserve-grade hooker, but don't think he'll ever be anything more.

Da Silva is five years younger than him and looks to have already jumped him in the pecking order.

People also forget that he's older than Simpkin.

Hasn't appeared to be the player he was before his serious injury last year. His strength is his strong running game (particularly finding the try line from close range), but he has pretty much put that away apart from 1 try 2 weeks ago. I think he would have fallen quite a bit down the pecking order and wouldnt be surprised if he were to move on.

I think Boyling is better than some think.
I don’t know why everyone is fascinated by size, the best performed back rowers in the game at the moment t are players such as Reuben Cotter MOM in State of Origin 1, he’s about 93kgs at best.
Hudson Young at the Raiders around 97kgs.
Cameron Murray 97kgs at best.

Cotter is 96kgs, but also has a stocky build. He's also the same age as Boyling, had 3 ACLs and yet still has played 50 first grade games, plus origins and internationals. He just has something special about him.
Boyling has maybe played 30-40 NSW cup games, you cannot compare the two...
Both Cotter and Young have huge impact on matches, at NRL level. Boyling is an honest toiler, good club man, he's playing fairly well. But doesnt come close to dominating matches.

Sure size isn't everything, but the smaller forwards that make it tend to stand out from the lack pack.

Maybe we need to turn him back into a lock that can cover Hooker? He might be more useful to us that way.

Final team list for Cup tomorrow going to be intriguing.

Do you risk Daine, Tallyn, Nado etc? 6 day turnaround to Storm game so any failed HIAs rule them out, let alone risking other injury.

Pretty barebones now WITH them available.

I heard that the club have tried to move him on but there’s been no takers
