Players ins v outs

You also have to keep in mind of the "ins" like Liddle, Paseka, Marsters, Tatola, Jacobs, Felise, B Sirro etc.

The current problem is the lack of balance in the forwards and backs. We aren't promoting many/any backs from our NYC squad, while we've let go nearly all of our outside backs from this years nsw cup side.

I'm sure we will sign some more 2nd tier backs in the very near future though. It's just a shame to lose 3 of our most promising outside backs. Karwhin did have attitude problems apparently, can't see Bennett giving him a shot.

I'm guessing we'll be signing some more Hunt/Addo Carr type 2nd tier signings soon. Not household names, but one's who'll eb our depth or be the youngsters pushing for a crack.

Heleta is the only outside back left busting a gut for a shot. Suli and Papenhuyzen are probably too young to get much of a look in next year, but you never know…!

You can add Matt Mcllwrick to the "IN's"

Wait What…is this official..?

With all the talk here recently about chasing a Roosters outside back like Tupou, can I ask a question, of all the players that we have signed over the years from other clubs have we actually signed a good X Rooster?.

There was some helpful feedback about my question and when it came down to it basically we have never picked up a decent player from the Chooks, we were gifted Todd Payten as he only had one year at Easts and for one or two seasons his wage were being paid by Canberra & the Chooks.

Peter Hiku , plays , Centre , Wing , Fullback , would he be worth loking at , don't think he has a contract for next year , currently running around playing park Touch footy

I can guarantee you Hiku isn't playing park footy. Maybe you are thinking of someone else.

He did his acl at the start of this season. Pretty sure Panthers have him signed for 2017

Edit: signed until end of 2018

The Roosters look like the club to target for an outside back:

Latrell Mitchell
Michael Gordon
Blake Ferguson
SKD
Daniel Tupou
Ryan Matterson
Joseph Manu
Dale Copley

Something has to give there. I'd be happy with any of Matterson, Manu, Copley or even Tupou. Matterson would be my pick of the bunch but I suspect they'll have him in mind for a utility role in the 17.

Ferguson is just so damn good. His performances for Aust have been awesome.
He is off contract at end 2017.
Crikey wouldn't it be something getting him!

And Souths fans of Inglis 2015-2016 when he goes great at Origin / country level, but missing somewhat at club level.

Ummm…am I missing something? You guy's don't rate Ferguson?

Where's the joke?

(Easily NSW and AUST best backline player in many a series...no..?)

jirskyr - you don't rate Inglis cos he had an ordinary season? or mocking Souths fans cos they do rate him? wha?? I don't get it...

My understanding is that it is a sick joke that we would or could ever sign a player like Blake Ferguson.

On Inglis myself - I think he vastly underperformed at club level the last two seasons. I see him play knock-out games in rep footy, then goes back to club level and doesn't achieve that same level. He's a magnificent player, I just see him achieving different levels club v rep.

ink was making the same point re Ferguson - not playing those same great games for Roosters recently.

Fergo is a jerk, not much better than Fifita though he looks possibly like hes matured …not sure if thats only cause hes been average for the chooks or because theyve been average too....at his best hes a gun...I could live with him being an arrogant twat in our jumper if he was winning us games

Fair call.
I agree that he was a goose in the past. Having said that, perhaps I am not aware of some his more recent antics which has drawn such disapproval.
So, I can only assume he must be less of a goose now being that he made Meninga's Australian team with its strict "no dickheads policy" (which is precisely why Fifita wasn't selected).

Am I a fan of the guy personally? Nup. _Being part of Mundine's crew is almost guilty by association IMO._
Do I loathe him like I loathe… say .... Robert Lui? Nup.
Has he been average for the Roosters at times? Yep _but form is temporary - class is permanent_

And is he world class if his is screwed on? Absolutely.

But if what you are saying is that we can't afford another loose cannon who, despite his obvious skill, could be a negative and divisive influence on our impressionable cubs.....in that case I agree....
