Players to be cut from WT end of 25!

With NRL Contracts not worth the paper they are written on, the WT are still carrying a few players who are never going to contribute to the club playing finals footy.

I know it is extremely difficult assembling a squad of players with the skills and credentials of SOO standard and stay within the clubs budget and the salary cap.

But currently I am sure most would agree that Terrell May, Api Koroisau, Jerome Luai, and Jahream Bula are exceptions.

Whilst players like TDS, Turuva and the three Finau brothers easily display skills to compliment the first four names mentioned, but apart from these guys that is where the talent begins to nosedive.

So at this point of my post I am sure members are muttering good one scoop!

The club can't believe that they can make the finals with the following players:
Staines, Douhei, Naden, Seyfarth, Bird and good old Alex Twal. IMO not one of the above six would play 1st grade for another club (maybe a desperate Titans or Eels).

Will the additions of KPP and Taylan May make a difference to the team climbing the ladder (possibly), but the club needs a desperate broom through the roster and the six players I have mentioned must not be there in 2026.

I know, easier said than done, but I am hoping Richo and Benji have a contingency plan better than 2025?

Skelton, T'oa and Pole keepers as well. Sukkar I'd persist with. Heath Mason may have a future as a back up half/hooker. Faaletino Tavana and Makasini probably good backs. Other than that, we need to go shopping.

Yes it was remiss of me to exclude Pole, and Toa's 2025 form has been good. I was also impressed with Sukkar's cameo role he had against the Rabbits. Not real sure about Mason and the other couple of players you mentioned but happy to be proven wrong.

I got the following to be cut at the end of the year:
1. Galvin
2. Josh Feledy
3. Justin Matamua
4. Brent Naden
5. Brandon Tumeth
6. Reuben Porter
7. Alex Lobb
8. Tristan Hope
9. Will Craig

Resign the following:
1. Staines
2. Doui
3. Solomona Faataape (He could possibly be cut also)
4. Heath Mason

If we are serious about winning more wooden spoons, I think we need to let more of our younger talent go.

Thankfully we have Galvin off the books (or so it seems). Now if we find new homes for Da Silva, Fainu Brothers, Poole and Bula, it should do the trick to get us back on track like previous years.

In future seasons I would prefer for us to have the spoon wrapped nice and early so I can relax and disassociate myself from rugby league which couldn’t happen last season as we found ourselves in the whole spoon bowl situation

I will never understand the love for To'a. Sure he can beat a man, but he never chases when a break is made and he never seems motivated. I live in Newcastle and Knights supporters say they were sad to lose him and he was going to be their next Gagai, but I just dont see it. I might be harsh, but I see him as a Reserve grade centre that can fill in in firsts from time to time, nothing more.

Didn’t he chase down Latrell last weekend?
