No problem. I'm a strong believer in respectful disagreement. I'm happy to let people convince me I'm wrong on this subject but I'm more likely to be convinced by logic and respect than the alternatives.

Marriage doesn't define creation of life. Plenty of married couples choose to be childless, plenty are childless for reasons outside their control, plenty of kids are born into unmarried homes.

Elizabeth Taylor got married seven times, and gays are the ones who'll cheapen the institution of marriage?

It will happen. Whether it takes 5 years or 50\. We live in a progressive world. 50 years ago gays weren't allowed in the military, blacks were segregated and women couldn't vote. The world is ever evolving.

The reason the LGBT lobby is pushing so hard is because they don't believe these figures - that's why they don't want a plebiscite.
Just like Brexit and Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon people won't openly come out with opinion in public that constantly gets shouted down and ridiculed.
Different matter in the privacy of an election booth.
 
I grew up amongst the dinosaurs of the white Australia policy etcetera, etcetera. This prejudice that the Howard government created by changing the marriage act needs to be corrected ASAP and does not even have to include anybody, just remove the words they added that exclude.

The polling in this country isn't that inaccurate. And they're pretty universal in what they find. Most people don't care or support it. They don't want a plebiscite be a use they don't feel they need to justify their desire to marry the person they love.

Or they don't want it because it will cost a lot of money and won't be binding in any event?

It may pass but certainly not by landslide. The LGBTQI lobbyists are very much hated and that may be enough to hurt the cause severely. Their militant approach has surely turned a lot against every issue they raise.
 
Don't care either way, I don't mean to sound harsh, I'd be happy for it to pass, but don't think we should let politicians hoodwink us into wasting time on the issue.

Would rather it was dealt with decisively by the people who get payed to run the country. I think both sides of politics find easy wins on this issue and don't want it to end, meanwhile, economy going backwards, housing situation is a joke in Sydney and Melbourne, the rich get richer, foreign policy setting us up in between China and the USA, and they take money from overseas donors to find their useless parties. With all due respect to my fellow Australians, I think you are doing them a favour by debating it and really the heat should be on politicians to deliver.
 
I can see both sides of the argument.
On one side if 2 people love each other why not let them get married, it's of no consequence to anyone else.
And on the other side, marriage is historically a religious sacrament so I respect the Church's right to an opinion.

However, at the end of the day it is inevitable that same sex marriage will eventually be legal in 99% of the world so we might as well just say yes to it now.

I respect anyone for their believes, but why waste money on a plebiscite that could be directed towards schools,hiospitals or the disabled. Let the pollies have a secret ballot and put this issue to bed for ever at no cost to the tax payer

Why a secret ballot - i think the Australian public should know where each of them stand. Its not a secret society.
 
I support marriage equality. There should be a clear separation of church and state, meaning our laws should not be governed by religious principles.
 
I hate political discussions and I don't want to get involved. I also question why we're having political discussions on the WTF.
