Give me examples of how I’m a die hard leftie. This will be fun.

Oh, i must be wrong, i guess all along youve been a Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon fan. My apologies.

This is pretty telling. Anyone who doesn’t like him is a hardcore leftie. Thanks for confirming what I have always suspected

Oh, so youre a centrist. To be fair it was hard to tell, with you spruiking for Biden and his far left ideology in every third post.

“Biden and his hard left ideology” ? This is genuinely the funniest thing I’ve read in years. Thanks.

You were joking right?

Guess medicare for all, free college, aborting born babies and open borders is centrist? OK

***And abortions after birth*** and open borders, even the most unhinged neo con nutcases don’t truly believe Biden wants either of those.

Abortion up to birth is a democratic policy and the Virginia democrats proposed a bill in which you can abort after birth.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/02/new-york-and-virginia-push-expand-abortion-rights/581959/

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/31/politics/ralph-northam-third-trimester-abortion/index.html

Hyperbolic and misleading. Your talking about third trimester terminations in very specific medical circumstances signed off by three independent doctors.

Neither hyperbolic or misleading. It is the policy of Democrats to allow abortions up to term. It just is.

I am assuming that you are not a pregnant female but this is not something that is forced, unlike the conservative policy that removes an individuals right to make their own decisions.

Mate, Im not saying its a good or a bad thing, simply pointing it out that it is a democratic policy and has been enacted in at least two democrat run states and in one the democrat governor proposed a bill that would allow abortion after birth. You said it isnt Bidens policy, I merely pointed out that it is Democrat policy. I haven't made any comment on whether its a good or a bad thing.

I didn't suggest that this was or wasn't democrat policy, just that it does not restrict the options available to a pregnant woman.

Your original post, that I responded to, you said that Biden didnt want it, that is why I pointed out that it is Democrat policy, so it is not a stretch.

Separate point, are you of the opinion that a woman should have unrestricted options available for abortion?

I think your response was to another user's point, I do think that government should not interfere in an individuals reproductive decisions.

you are right, I mixed you and Celtic up, sorry about that.

I’m not of that opinion and neither is Joe Biden ***or the Democrats.***

Ok....as I have clearly pointed out, that is Democrat policy, it has been enacted in at least 2 Democrat states.

Are you in favour of a woman being allowed to die in the event of her health being at risk from a non viable third trimester pregnancy..

No

Do you believe that a woman should have no choice over her own body.

No I dont, but does that over ride the life of a viable baby (two heartbeats)? What is the point of your simplistic binary questions? Life isnt binary. Massive difference in consideration between a woman who's life is at risk late term and a woman who is healthy with a healthy baby late term. Should a healthy woman with a healthy baby be able to terminate that baby's life in the 39th week, because its her choice? Imo of course not. My point being your simplistic binary questions are ridiculous, its not that simple and also totally irrelevant to the point.

My point is you are misrepresenting the Dems position. No one is advocating unrestricted access to abortions, certainly not the Dems or Biden. A healthy baby in the third trimester would never and should never be aborted. That is not the Democrats position.

I realise it’s not a binary question and it’s a topic which is very subjective due to a lot of factors, mainly life experience. The thing is in trying to overturn Roe vs Wade the neo cons are seeking to take woman’s reproductive health back 50 years, all for the cause of religious fundamentalism. Pro life unless you are a poor person with no health insurance waiting for life saving surgery.

Totally unrestricted?

Largely. I think that totally would see some ridiculous scenario thrown at me. I see the health of the woman (whether physical or mental) as the primary consideration.

Morally I can think of a few scenarios that I do not approve of, but at the end of the day there are a lot of things that I might find offensive or disagree with. It does not give me the right to impose my view on others.

Just my opinion but I think the hysteria regarding overturning Roe V Wade is a myth. Conservatives have had a majority for while now in the SCOTUS and there has been no movements to suggest it. ACB has repeatedly said she recognises precedence. I cant see it happening, could be wrong, time will tell. Of course even if they did, its then up to the states, feds cant impose it.

I don’t think it’s hysteria. Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon has already said that repealing Roe vs Wade and allowing states to pass their own abortion laws is a real possibility especially with Barrett now on the SC. At the moment a federal court ruling is the only thing stopping Alabama more or less criminalising abortion.

From what ive seen from the ICAC was she wasnt overly interested more or less as if you were speaking to a mate who was full of it all the time you just go yeah yeah. Gladys has been getting hammered for days far more that that imbecile Andrews has gotten and he's arguably responsible for 800+ deaths, I hate to have that fool running my state.

No she was trying to have plausible deniability. She sacked the guy and stayed with him. Barry O'Farrell accepted an expensive bottle of piss from a developer and got the sack for lying. Gladys has done the same. She needs to go. All corruption has to be rooted out, and I'd be saying the same of the ALP. I was happy that Obeid went away for his corruption. Should be more of it.

N.B. the NSW government allowed that infected ship to disembark. The whole COVID drama this country has seen revolves around that bloody boat. NSW and Federal government's are to blame for that.

If she has been proven to being corrupt or complicit by ICAC she will go, she may well be pushed out regardless. But ICAC has had history of trial by media before, only for people to be exonerated by the courts. In any event I think she’s done a good job (except for the ruby princess) throughout this thing best of any premier throughout the country while balancing health & the economy. The ruby princess was a huge stuff up someone should have gone then possibly Health Hazzard, but to suggest the whole covid drama the country has had has come from the ruby princess is not factual. The issues in Melbourne and subsequently here now is from the bungled hotel quarantine it’s been proven it isn’t a theory.

You'll get no argument from me on the bungled quarantine in Melbourne. I believe the army should have been used for all hotel quarantine.

The info coming out in Melbourne, ahead of the quarantine inquiry report, is quite disturbing. The politicians, as usual, appear to be teflon coated but a number of senior public servants are coming across (media reports only) as having been less than honest about what they knew and when they knew it.

From my perspective the most disturbing thing is that when one person lies about the content of an email or a telephone call it requires the other party in that exchange to back that position in order for the lie to be carried off successfully. So we're not just talking about lies being told, but also about collusion to lie to the inquiry.

I've been a Dan Andrews supporter throughout this difficult period but my faith in him is waning.

I'm doing my best to withhold judgement until the final report is delivered. It's not easy. We've been in lockdown for a long time and I'm getting desperate for a haircut, a trip to Bunnings and little bit more honesty from our elected officials and their senior staffers.

The biggest problem I saw was their egos. Instead of admitting they needed help and taking the help on offer, the Victorian govt decided it knew best and could do it themselves. They got found out very quickly they didn’t know what they were doing and unfortunately with deadly consequences. For that Andrews should be made to pay.

I think he will eventually pay a price for this stuff up. Whether he personally is complicit or not (I actually hope he isn't) he will pay the price of leading a government who failed to cope with the issue.

The latest is a report from The Age to the effect that the Chief Health officer, Brett Sutton, was aware of the private security issue as far back as March, despite telling the inquiry that he didn't find out about it until media broke the story in May. The Age has produced copies of emails which he acknowledged. He may have to go before the inquiry again.

Good to finally see Morrison finally taking action in moving to get some more Aussies back into the country, but all quarantine should have been carried out by the federal government, immediately as travel restrictions were put in place. Mistakes have been made in many areas, which is to be expected when there lack of central control of a hasty hotch potch mix, with the we will control cruise ships type approach and then not doing so at the heart of it and a perfect example.

The trouble is I see the Victorian govt still doing it and letting their egos decide policy, now unnecessarily crippling the entire state. A more targeted approach is needed with less fear of offending certain sections of the community.

Well, no argument from me.

To be fair, I think that Dan has been so stung by the hotel quarantine debacle that he has probably over-compensated in the response.

Most of my friends down here are fairly level-headed people. We've all supported the response to the "second wave". But I can tell you that almost all of them are well and truly over it. Five infections Thursday, two on Friday and only one today. There hasn't been an active case in my postcode (which is a sizeable one) in the last month. If the restrictions aren't substantially lifted tomorrow I think a lot more Melburnians will just start ignoring them.

Would have been very much against such earlier on and generally supportive of making sure the numbers are very low before reopenings as with the often asymptomatic nature of this virus, it is almost surely still sitting in unknown pockets.

Time has come though for communities to take responsibility and accept the consequences of quarantine zones similar to individual suburb shut-downs approach earlier.

No no no this wasn't meant to happen !!

Its funny how facebook and twitter allowed a flood of personal information about Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon such as being bankrupt several times, his tax files, his demenours etc to be publicly released for all to comment on and criticise him for ..

But Joe Bidens dirty laundry gets washed by these platforms so he hasnt got to answer for them, secret emails showing his conflict of interest and using his VP power to get family members millions from influenced investors etc,China and Ukraine top the list...but wait the leftys think Joe is squeaky clean and will be a top President...he should be publicly shamed and critisised just as Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon was ....that would be fair, but thats right the left dont play clean or fair...

the old adage " whats good for the goose is good for the gander""

Facebook and Google are definitely not impartial, they have an agenda, which is to make money. They will tailor news to their liking, allow people to see only what Facebook and Google want them to see. I don't think they have ever tried to hide this.

You mean the same way that the Murdoch media machine does.

I think Virginia Trioli nailed it in that article I posted.

We've done our bit to pull the numbers right back. The government now has to demonstrate that it has done its bit to ensure that contact tracing etc is robust enough to ensure that the outbreaks and clusters, that will inevitably occur, can be adequately contained.

Just this week we had an outbreak in Shepparton. People lined up for hours to be tested and at midday they closed the lines down and sent people home. They didn't have enough testers to respond to the demand, despite having urged everyone to be tested. Shepparton is only about a 2 hour drive from Melbourne but they couldn't organise an adequate response.

That's not good enough.

I agree with you that Gladys has done a great job during COVID (well at least overseen a great operation) and I like her, but it seems to be clear that she at least either was aware or should have been aware of serious corruption and actively turned a blind eye. I cant see how she can stay. If that is going to be allowed to get away with knowing a member is corrupt and do nothing then its a very dangerous precendent. Barry had to go for two bottles of wine.

She probably should have been aware but she's not on her own there the bloke obviously fooled a lot of people, i think the reason she could stay is she has runs on the board and is popular. But in saying that there's every possiblity she does go, couple of bottles of wine doesnt seem so bad for Barry.
But compare Gladys to Andrews the guy is a shocker he's lied through his teeth consistantly and he doesnt look like going i know its a low bar but still. Even the idiot in Qld and the muppet in WA some of them are acting like the run the country Gladys is streets ahead of any other leader, she has her faults though as they all do.

The difference is he is incompetent, she is corrupt. Andrews would lose an election because of his incompetency whereas Gladys shouldn't even be allowed in office.
