Or, @Swordy, let's make it easier for you to make clear where your thoughts lie (no pun intended).
Given that we work under a preferential voting system, and depending on which seat you reside in, it is unlikely that your vote for an Independent or Greens or PHON or UAP candidate will make it to Canberra.
So, your votes exhausts when they are eliminated if you just vote 1 for them. Or will you bother to number your preferences beyond your first choice? And, if so, will you put the LNP candidate above Labor, or the Labor candidate above LNP? It really is that simple. Care to enlighten us?
I will enlighten you @Tiger-Tragic . I don't hold my vote secret like some.
The last federal election, I voted for the local Liberal candidate. The two before that, I voted for the local Labor candidate, including when a by-election was held because it was determined that the candidate was not a proper Australian citizen because of her mothers brothers uncle etc etc. (You will remember that period of our politics which was pathetic in my opinion.)
So despite your attempt at labelling me a Scomo apologist, you are wrong. More fool you.
As I have before, I will attend the booth, have my name marked off and leave. I understand I am required under the Act to cast a legitimate vote on the ballot paper, but if I choose to make no mark and put it in the box because NO ONE deserves my vote, I will do it. And no amount of carrying on about donkey votes or otherwise will change that.
FYI - I've never seen my current Liberal sitting member. I find that objectionable. I also noted the local Labor candidate waving at cars the other day and when I briefly spoke to her (1-2 minutes as I walked past with my coffee), I was left even more uncertain about her party and her platform, and I'm certain she has little idea too.
EDIT - So to make it clear - I am undecided at this time, but no vote is in the lead!
2ND EDIT - (Sorry mate, missed the last comment). I have NEVER, and will likely never put a '1' in the box and move on. I have ALWAYS numbered in my preferences, not any particular parties preference. It is my vote, not theirs.
🙂
