My opinion is that either party are as bad as each other,if you want change vote for who offers the best for the country..I strongly think that who ever gets in has to consider the MEDICAL system has to be a priority for all the people and the retirees need to be looked after as well, they have worked all their lives, paid taxes and deserve to have a few perks in their old age...
The one thing that SCOMMO has going for him are the voters who got handouts during the plandemic, jobkeeper subsidies which they worked for minimum hours and got $750 a week when they would only have earned half that for the hours put in...
A lot has to be taken in to consideration when voting,BUT do you get what they promise once they are in..(either party)....

Thanks TT. There have been LNP supporters like Hammertime who I've had some good discussions with. What I loathe is the general decline in political discourse. At least Howard and Abbott stood for things. They weren't things I agreed with but Howard in particular had substance. Morrison is just a hopeless shell of a thing. Even his own side think he's hopeless. And it's not to say Albanese is fantastic - I preferred Shorten - but he looks like Bobby Kennedy next to Morrison.

The silent majority just doesn’t bang on as much.

Another great line.

I actually thnk Liberal may get back into office. I think it's like @Viking Warrior states in that it's better the devil you know.

I don't think the Libs are that bad. I just have a preference for Labour right now. My mum will vote Liberal and she is a funny part of the silent majority. Like you she might end up part of the majority but they aren't silent.

One thing that I will say and I'm not huge into politics but the government's covid relief for my business is a big reason I'm voting for them. They put measures in place to support small businesses through that tough time.

This is the counter argument and it's a real good one when it comes to poor economic management. It's poor economic management to me because I don't need or want handouts. To me it's robbing my kids and grandkids to pay for my grand lifestyle.

do think this will end up hung parliament would prefer Labor or coalition win outright rather than have to pander to greens, one nation, Palmer united etc

I don’t know who will win but I think our politicians have had a bloody tough job the last few years. Certainly appreciate them more than all the people always carrying on about this that and the other.

Yeh I get your outlook bud and I respect your opinion but for a lot of small businesses it was huge help which I'm thankful for. Really think the economy would of collapsed without intervention.

I'm being harsh. I just can't vote for a government who has raised our debt levels to astounding levels.

I agree. What a time to be trying to govern.

I am so sick of hearing everyone whining about how they deserve more handouts. We need to raise taxes and be extremely focused with our spending.

It's also tough because we need to spend more on the military and we need to move towards clean energy. I'll add that I don't care about meeting some global CO2 target and I don't want to see dodgy scams related to growing trees or something like that.

I think the way people try to bring certain issues into prominence only serves to turn more people towards the status quo. Nobody wants others beliefs rammed down their throat.

On that point i agree,i could not imagine anything worse than Palmer or Hanson having any say in out countrys future.Even the greens whose heart is in the right place should not hold even the slightest amount of power in our parliament

I honestly doubt if any Australian is complaining about the support that small business received during covid as it was certainly needed but what about all the upteen millions of dollars that was given to large corporations in "error" during the same period and the government didn't make any attempt to get it back?
As always one rule for their backers and a separate rule for the general populace and don't even get me started on the way pensioners are treated

Government assistance was necessary during COVID, like it was during the GFC. Some small business owners didn't survive even with assistance. Some weren't entitled to assistance. Imagine how many more would have fallen over without government intervention. It is a function of government to be there for the people when catastrophes hit.

I agree on targeted spending, I don't on higher taxes. With the cost of living increasing, there is a reason why the ALP have said that they will honour the LNP tax cuts and are focusing on multinationals for taxation. Not even they are brave enough to increase taxes.

The debt needs to be repaid. It's a simple choice - higher taxes or less spending. This needs to be ongoing as well. This is why I can't vote Liberal - they've screwed us. It might have been required and it has happened all over the world but it was on their watch. They don't have the right to run on good economic management.

You are 100% correct though in no one is brave enough. They probably need tax reform as well but no one will do that.

Not pissing away $5.5bn on broken contracts with zero to show for it is a great start.
