Just to preface my comments, I don't necessarily think Thomson is innocent, or guilty, I'm not really concerned with that. The truth will most likely come out in time. But just a few things to note. I find it very interesting that many of these facts aren't reported by the average media source.

Yoss , the information that links Kathy Jackson and her EX partner colluding to set Thomson up

He was actually talking about Jackson's _current_ partner, FWA Vice President Michael Lawler, who was appointed to his position by Tony Abbott under the previous Government.

Her ex-husband is involved in other ways though:

http://www.independentaustralia.net/2012/politics/the-jackson-and-lawler-hsu-tangle-part-two/

Kathy Jackson has been touring the country telling anybody who will listen that Thomson’s conspiracy theories regarding fiddling credit cards, setting up people with prostitutes, and elaborate private expenses on a union credit card are all nonsense — absolutely unheard of ridiculous stories.
>
As it happens, however, there was remarkably similar story from a few years back, which also involves prostitutes, credit cards, and a HSU official being set up at the HSU:
>
From the The Weekend Australian – April 2009:
>
“The statement of a Bendigo Gold Visa card allegedly issued to Jackson shows expenditure on services that fall far outside his normal duties. It includes a string of prostitutes, designer clothes, dental work, gourmet food and drinks at a favourite Melbourne hotel. Jackson challenges the authenticity of this credit card account and dismisses allegations he has misused any funds as part of a “dirty tricks campaign” mounted by opponents within his union…”
>
Of course, Kathy Jackson may have not remembered this case, as it was a while ago. Except for one minor detail — the person apparently set up, Jeff Jackson, happens to be her ex-husband. You would have thought she might remember that when she scoffingly dismissed Thomson’s claims.

also re: his electoral spending, he has been cleared by the AEC

http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/political-news/thomson-case-could-be-out-of-time-20120516-1yr8x.html

The possible failure or delay to the Fair Work action comes as the Australian Electoral Commission announced yesterday that findings against Mr Thomson in the Fair Work report were unlikely to involve any breaches of the electoral act.
>
The commission concludes that most of the electoral spending discussed in the Fair Work report had been disclosed by the union, or by Mr Thomson, and the four payments still under question fell below the reporting threshold.

The ability to swallow law texts and regurgitate enough it to pass a degree is no sign of an ability to manage an economy. I'd have thought that public administration is a hell of a lot closer to being relevent.

Some weird things happening in parliament recently…..I finally found out about the actions when slipper was made speaker, two MPs had to manhandle him into the chair.

Why did Abbott have to run yesterday?

Manhandling the speaker into the chair is some form of historical action. Something to do with olden times when the speaker was executed if he couldnt control the parliament.

As for that ridiculous crap yesterday….Labor tried to pull a swifty by making Thomson vote with the Liberals in some pathetic attempt to embarrass Abbott. These clowns are supposed to be running the country yet both sides are only interested in 'one upping' the other...meanwhile nothing is getting done.

The approach of both parties to the governanance of this nation is a disgrace. Meanwhile the Greens - the most destructive collection of nonses in the country are growing ever stronger as people are so fed up with both Labor and Liberal.

Yeh it was atradition if the King wanted the government overthrown, the speaker was first one executed so they were all reluctant to take that position - hence the manhandling.

Was running out of the chamber some other tradition, or just Abbott making a point?

While I don't always agree with your pro-Liberal stances you've made a great deal of sense in this post. The ALP are attempting to hold on to power by whatever means, and instead of providing a viable alternative which is the duty of an opposition, the Coalition seem more interested in just riding the shortcomings of the current Government.

All the while the far Left masquerade as a legitimate alternative…

CB The only thing wrong with either party is their leaders

We get Turnbull back in and we are laughing all the way to the next election

I would happily vote for a Turnbull-led Coalition on the proviso they implement a revised Carbon Tax.

The ALP have done their dash. I don't necessarily ascribe to the diatribe that is spewed by the Opposition, but they have proven to be untrustworthy and as a result they will pay dearly.

The worst part is that while both slowly evolve into centrist parties, neither will fully get there.

I would vote for that too. At the moment, the whole parliament is a zoo!

Likewise, more than you'll know, and it's not insulting to the DPP's or Police from any state, but the just the way it is.
While you would like to push the fact these things don't go on, or even believe it yourself, the fact is they do.
Politicians are the biggest threat to the legal system in this country, along with the laws that pertain to judges, and the fact they cannot be fired.
Each state DPP undergoes case reviews based on the likelyhood of a conviction, not on evidence, and that's before any case even get's to court. Reasons for not persueing are based on financial constraints, and if there is a political bent that may or may not be favoured the ruling party. On many occasions, they simply do what their political masters tell them to do.
They are also aware of what magistrates have a particluar leaning to some political or social view, such as Pat O'Shayne and her anti Police rulings. In the end, it is an ugly game, run by ugly people, with no morals when it comes to gaining an advantage over a political opponent, similar to your postings on this forum.

By the way, you still have a habit of baiting people by calling their posts garbage, and being insulting to anyone who disagree's with your take on things. Pretty arrogant for someone so broke they can't support this forum.

Mate you come on here an accuse me of being arrogant when you're one of the most arrogant posters around. Check out your post above when you call my postings ugly/immoral. You're a world class hypocrite - if you post crap withouth facts to back it up you get what you deserve.

I know how the DPP works, I know how prosecutions work. The DPP is apolitical. I spent a decade working in law enforcement working on investigations to get some pretty nasty people off the street. How's that for morals?

You're the only one who thinks I'm baiting - I've had some spirited discussions with people especially on this thread and you're the only one who makes it a personal issue.

You'd make an excellent politician, full of bluster, and using a faciility others have paid and worked hard on, and expect to use it for nothing. Very left wing, I'll let someone else pay so I can spread my views of personal superiority. Anyone can say they did anything on forums, especially those using a nom de plume, however, I'll stick with what I know after 65 years on this planet, and I am certainly not stupid enough to post cases blown on purpose, for the purpose of perverting the course of justice, so feel free to continue to expouse the virtue of those you obviously so admire and protect.

you're the only one who makes it a personal issue.

Sorry, but let me draw your attention to, if your span can cope, with my first post on this thread, where you made some disparaging remarks, all I have done is retaliate, no one asked you to reply, but like most baiters, you cannot pass up the temptation. Feel free to jump into a tyrade, I shan't reply, nothing to gain by argueing with fools, they only bring you down to their level.

There were a host of words to describe that performance and 'interesting' was not one of them. I'm starting to think that Gillard and this woeful crew of hers are payback for our Colonial indiscretions

Very interesting , my question to you guys is . If you went to an election and had to ( ultimately via preferences ) choose between Abbot led Libs or Gillard led labor , where does your vote go ?

Rambo, right now, I really don't know. I'd have to look at what each is offering on all levels. The problem I find is that often the main policy I agree with is underscored by so many minor ones that I am totally opposed to.

How weak are you? Have a massive spray and then go and sook in the corner. It's a forum - if you post rubbish people will call you on it. If you're too fragile to cope with that maybe it isn't for you. You just don't seem to cope when someone calls on you to back up your wild claims with some evidence. "Oh I can't give examples but I know it happens"… Yeah right. Have another drink and come back next week with something about the Illumanti are we''re set!
