What a load of garbage.... I'm sure some melb players really couldn't give two hoots about all this until JAC pressured them into it... and don't believe the crap where it says no pressure because the minute one distances himself from a team doing this every Tom dick & Harry will make.it into a big deal
We really don't need this American political. Crap in our game

Yup, utter rubbish.

Cringe as hell when i saw it here in Aus.

Did they do it in the NRL? I saw they did it in the AFL tonight. Every sportsperson wants to be a Yank tryhard these days. It's both sad and hilarious. That's why every NRL promo these days features as much dancing as it does on-field action. Those Foxsports promo's make me wanna chunder every time they come on. It's embarrassing really.

My biggest issue is the lack of originality. I’m so out of the loop with the protests in this country, that I asked my girlfiriend the other morning why are there protests here. She said because of the treatment of Indiginous Australians. I was like “so why are they protesting now?”. Is it because they saw someone else protest and the lightbulb went off? Just like when they started to not sing the anthem after CP started taking a knee. Nothing I despise more than when people try to ride the coat tails of someone else’s work.

How dare players be against.... racism? What’s political about wanting everyone to be treated fairly, that’s all it was about.

What’s the point of protesting if the people youre trying to engage have no idea why you’re protesting ? Which is the case here. I keep hearing this “400 indigenous men have died in custody” argument “ . Which is true . Except when you put it in proportion to the amount of people who died in custody , it almost exactly is proportionate to the % of indigenous people incarcerated . Something like 28%.
So in actuality, there’s no evidence that supports “the racist oppressors” narrative . Because if there was , there’d be a disproportionate jump of deaths to incarcerated . But there isn’t .
I’m not saying that we don’t have a racism issue in this country .
But that’s not what this rally is about . It’s about police brutality to dark skin folk .
But show me how it isn’t just police being brutal to lower socioeconomic people , which are the vast % of people in the system

Why now though all of a sudden? Why not any time in the last 100 years? It reeks of trying to follow a trend.

It was a player initiative which I encourage and whilst obviously on the back of the US Floyd situation, the leg swipe that had the handcuffed indigenous youngster busting teeth when hitting the ground was a further huge catalyst here.

At least those protests had most wearing masks, but I didn't hear boo about the other protests a week or two beforehand where it was more like the opening up Victoria ones on which our leader commented on it being their right to do so. More virus control on display there than in the general population from what I have seen and this photographer from the empty seat shows.

Didnt that kid say to the officer “I’m going to stab you” or something ? Mate I’m not that old 35, but when I was a kid , if you said that stuff to the police , then you were going have yourself an accident . And I’m as white as a Hittler youth. You can’t have someone enforcing the rules and laws , who people don’t at least fear a little .
I would say that was more to do with what he said rather than , his skin colour. There is little situational nuance anymore. If something happens to a gay person. It’s homophobic. Something happens to. Woman . Sexist . Something happens to a lower socioeconomic. Elitist . Something happens to a person of colour . Racist . Why can’t it be purely about each situation as it rises . The more we do this stuff . The more divided we will all become . This type of thinking isn’t good man . It’s toxic . It’s divisive. And it’s the type of thinking that leads to wars. As soon as you focus on what makes us different . Then that’s all people see. The BLM in America is completely different. There’s no programs for black kids. There’s no government grants. There’s no welfare system. There’s no Medicare . It’s not even remotely the same

Have you not noticed the Australian day protests every year and more.... protesting against racism in Australia has been happening a while now.

Everyone knows what they’re taking a knee for, it’s pretty global news at the moment. I don’t understand how people being against racism is an issue even if some people are following a trend, it’s not just about the police it’s about racism in general

Anyway I don’t want to get into politics. I just can’t fathom why anyone thinks being against racism and wanting everyone to be treated fair is an issue in any way.

Um ... that’s not what these protests are about. And the fact people like you , are saying that is my point . You don’t even know why they’re happening. Racism is an issue . Of course it is. But this is ? opportunism . And nothing else . And it defeats the whole thing.

You clearly don’t know though !!!!! I just explained to you the actual facts. This is what I’m talking about . Virtue signalling rubbish devoid of any facts . Just “Straya is racist” . Cool ! Great! How do we fix it ? .......
“straya is racist, we should condemn racism “

In America they have the 8s . 8 things to bring about change , that are actually what is required to bring about change . This is what is being promoted and they want to change . I can go through them if you like ?
What are the changes that are being proposed here ? That haven’t been brought into policy already ??

I never said that’s what the protests are about. I said the protests are against racism and he said ‘why only now’ and I said they’ve been protesting against racism and for indigenous rights for years now... which is true. Don’t tell me what I do and don’t know, I know exactly why these protests are happening and what they’re about.

Again I’m not going to argue politics on here especially on a forum full of boomers who can’t accept change.

If you think being against racism, EVEN if people are jumping on a Trend is bad, then you’re an idiot. Being against racism no Matter how you do it is good. There’s plenty of changes the indigenous people want here, do some research and you’ll find them.

Once again virtue signalling nonsense , that is grandiose and devoid of any real substance. You’re the idiot . I state again what is the point ? We acknowledged racism 15 years ago was bad officially ? They call it reconciliation day . I know you think The world began when you turned 18 , but in Actuality this stuff has been going for years. There’s 100s of policies in place to help , educate , and bridge the gap.
So what specifically do they want to change ?
Eg. In the US - checks and balances put in place to have external reviews conducted on police shootings
- the removal of military equipment from the police force . Brought about by defence contractors having surplus stock and thus re selling to police forces
- no knock home invasions . Police can just bang down your house with very minimal probable cause .
All aimed at black people .
NONE OF THAT EXISTS HERE .zero ! Nada ! Zip!
So what are you protesting ??? Racism ? Great! To what ends ? How do you fix it ? What are you proposing ? WhT issue do you want to change ?

Yep sorry my bad . I just get irritated by this stuff. Everybody is happy to throw naps at each other . But there’s very rarely any offers of solutions . It drives me crazy. I want racism to end and us to move forward and focus on things like , the environment , space exploration etc . So much better things for our human minds to focus on . But show me a solution! Otherwise STFU !
