Potter Appreciation

What a great man, what else could have been thrown on his plate this year? He'll have a head of grey hairs like Gus by season end but can hold that silver head up proud.

I can't wait to see how he goes as a coach when 100% of his time is spent on a team of injury free talented players who actually want to play for him.

Well done Potts!

He's definitely made some ballsy decisions. And to be doing that in first year he is making his intentions very clear - I think we've picked a winner by recruiting Potter.

100% agree!! He was done a great job this year and I feel we have a long term coach in place… He is removing the deadwood and I am very excited about 2014 onwards..

Too many people think leadership is easy

Thanks Mick for your hard work so far and especially for the decisions you are making that do not hit the media.

I look forward to seeing you have an off season with your team and I certainly hope you are given the opportunity to see your vision for the club eventuate with a 2 year extension in due course.

The funny thing is Benji knocked back reportedly close to a million a year for the next two years while Potter is getting paid loose change and has the axe hanging over his head 24/7.

The bloke being paid peanuts is busting his guts out to turn the place around while the other bloke is only worried about his wallet and not his football. I just hope the bloke being paid peanuts gets some luck in 2014 and starts winning plenty of games. I also hope the board, sponsors and fan base give him a little slack,I think his judgement year should not before 2015 unless we have a complete wipe out in 2014\. I see a lot of Bellamy in Potter, hard but fair

I agree Potter seems to be doing well wasn't there rumours the board was going to punt him next year?
Perhaps that was part of the Benji spin doctors I'd like to see how he goes with backing and that's not next season that's 2015 when he gets to go into the market for the first time.

It wouldnt surprise me if a lot of rumours over the years came from that camp

Doing a great job making all the tough calls. A club can not advance without leadership and a club can not advance with a persona like Benji Marshall ( they should rename the town where he comes from alla-bout-mee )

Great Coach took on the toughest gig in regards to the mess that was handed to him and done a top job.Now all we need is Folkes back and we might instil some true grit and steel to this club and players.I hope he comes back now that he knows the koala bears are gone.

The jury is out for mine. The team has massively underperformed this season. Injuries were not used as a reason for poor performance last season so lets not use that as a reason now Potter is coach.

If Potter is coach next season, I expect nothing less than Top 8\. Anything less than that and he should go.

Top coach and knows what he is doing, he has done what most people wanted…got rid of Moltzen, Pettybourne, Ayshford and Benji.

Last year was 10 years in the making. What makes you think next year should be nothing less than a top eight finish. In a rebuilding period and you can't wait, listen to yourself.

well, i think your being a bit harsh here. at one stage we could name a 13 man line up who were injured.

tedesco
lote
ayshford
lawrence
utai
anasta
forget who was here
galloway
farah/iosefa
bell
etc etc.

you get the drift.

potter has done extremely well. not even bennett could have performed miracles with the injury toll we had this year.

Yeh right with all the younger players that will be introduced to first grade that's a big call but I am expecting some improvement in 2014 with a big year in 2015.

Extremely happy with Potter as our coach and it will only get better as the years roll on. I believe he will be up there with the likes of Bellamy, Hasler and Maguire within the next 2-3 years.

Really feel for Potter , coming from the dramas in England straight into more of the same here .
Has stood up once again to show great leadership and in trying circumstances I believe the team has shown a lot of improvement from the start of the season .
As has been said ,cant wait till he has a near full squad to choose from and what he can do with them.

I have never been a massive Potter fan, but one thing he does have is courage.

Came here for massive unders, horrible injury toll and now has to cop the whole Benji soap opera for daring to drop the pampered child for 20 mins. He changed the culture the moment he did that.

Took a lot of courage for a rookie NRL coach who could have easily just played the "be mates with benji and Moltz and I will never be sacked" card.

Credit where it is due.

He's making changes like he was employed to do. Hopefully he's given an opportunity to justify those changes and not moved on early.
