Potter Gone - Contract Not renewed! Official!

I just hope the new bloke gets a bit more of a fair go than Pottsy did.

However with certain personalities still remaining in their positions, I cant see too much changing

Potter had nothing going for him last year. Not his team. Not his staff. 10 rounds into this year and everything turned the corner. What happened then???

If WT was a racehorse the stewards would now be putting up the screens and loading the .303 -surely we as busted as a club can possibly be without going under. Meanwhile the useless, incompetent clowns running our club are sitting up high on the mountain, happily watching the carnage unfold in the valley below. No point having a coach who the players supposedly don't want to play for (Potter) I guess. Who are the players gonna be pointing the finger at and shifting the blame to next season if they play as gutless and pathetic as this year?

If we were a racehorse with untapped potential we would be looking for another trainer? And the "useless incompetent clowns" are not sitting up high "happily watching the carnage unfold". They are trying to stop the carnage and have the club move forward. Mayer, whilst timing was subjective, implemeneted an independent review. A new board was implemented to over see the strategic change for the club and has taken time to meet with Potter and of course seek advice from the CEO regarding the coach (and you would suspect other issues). They would understand cultural issues/fit, leadership and strategic direction and match against what Potter brings to the table.

Whether he can coach or not there is too much baggage in keeping him on. To quote from the movie "We are Marshall" where the coach addresses his team after a loss:

"Now I’m proud of you. But I will not accept losing with you. Because there’s only one thing they judge us on. There’s only one thing people remember. And it ain’t how we play the game."

In the end, nice guy or not, injuries or not, we didn't win enough games.

Mayer will be judge accordingly by his new masters when they have time to see him implement their strategies and the targets they will set him.

Great for Player recruitment…

WT...Would you be interested in coming to the Tigers

Player X...Who's the Coach

WT...Ummmm

When does Robbie select the new coach?

_Posted using RoarFEED V.4_

Give it a break!!!!!
A new start with a new board and a new coach is what was needed.
Are we going to have put up with the same old garbage on here all over again for the next few seasons . There's just the odd chance that the board will select the new coach on the recommendation of Mayer, that's what really scares me. Then we really will have something to whinge about

AAh Robbie welcome back. The only time you comment on our forum is in your defence.Whilst getting tiresome your "lone wolf" antics are one your family members but not many else would be very proud of.

As I said before . just because you have this nice cuddly Bromance going on with Mayer , doesn't mean that anyone that disagrees with you is a friend/ relation of Farah . Despite the fact that you have made yourself a spokesman for the "World" , quite a few on here DO disagree with you on a quite a few things. Then again as most of the things you say are not backed up with any facts. I shouldn't be surprised if you want to go on with your usual crap of assuming you know everything So to again spoil your day , I am still not a relation of Farah , just a member of this forum that sees more value for Wests Tigers in one of our best players than I do in a know all like yourself , who knows no more than most to the other posters on here, My love to Grant.

Mayer has already proven himself at Manly.Robbie whilst a very talented footballer has hardly proven himself in the right ways recently off the field.FACT.

As has been said a million times before, he simply had to go. There would be too much ongoing speculation every week as long as Potter was still around.

Does he have the support of Mayer?
Of Farah?
Of the playing group?
Of the board?

This would have been asked every week that Potter was our coach, even more if we were losing.

Regardless of his performance, which hasn't been great, he was never going to stay. The team lacked motivation, organisation, and discipline something that other clubs with just as many injuries as us managed to handle without too many problems.

He's a nice guy, gave his all, did fairly well, but in the end he has limitations and isn't the person to take this club to the next level. And so we all move on.

Great post. Time to move on and for God's sake let's all get behind the new coach ( whoever he may be ) and the new CEO.

What a load! As if Potter had any chance of making a similar quote "Now I’m proud of you. But I will not accept losing with you" with the situation he inherited. He had no choice in the player roster, had no choice in his assistants, was undermined from above. Complete BS.

Magpiecol, that's true. Very few, If any of us, have the attributes to be either Head Coach or CEO of a NRL club so let's get behind the professionals given the jobs before we ourselves are the future wreckers of this club.

NTtiger, have to agree, really the thing is Potter never had a chance from the start, the undermining started early on and never stopped, how the hell can you coach an NRL side when you have your hands tied and a roster you didn't pick and the assistants you didn't pick and they were the ones sticking the knives in because they wanted the top job….Mick deserved a hell of a lot better than what he copped, the inner sanctum should hang their heads in shame, new board or not,it will take a long time for the stench to clear....a very long time

After reading most of the postings on this subject we have a lot of very, very, crappy supporters.

Let's move on. Potter is gone, full stop. Let's support the new coach and his staff until at least, say, the second training session.

One more thing Potter lovers, tactically he was hopeless. In other words, he was not, I repeat NOT a very good coach.

I'm just really disappointed in the club and it's probably the most disheartened I've been with it. I feel sorry that Potter will struggle to get a coaching gig somewhere wise because of what's happened here. He has class and that's not common with our club.

Newtown, granted most of us don't have the credentials to be head coach or c.e.o.,but having said that over the past few seasons the ones that do have don't seem to be able to use their credentials either..Head coaches being sacked mid season or early in the contracts ..CEO leaving before their contracts are fulfilled,it all seems to me that the internals of a any particular club do what they want, when they want….what the hell is a contract or superior credentials if you get pole axed if the board don't like you or what your doing...I suppose it has to suit them even if they don't have the said credentials.............

@Magpiecol,that is only your opinion on Potter,I think he did a great job with what he had to put up with….as for moving on yes lets, but I will not support a coach that Mayer recommends,as I said before the new board took his recommendations on Potter,I think he has his own agendas, only my opinion as a forum member......

Rubbish … When we beat souths/ manly / dogs .. Their were no tactics ??? Or was that just a fluke ?
Injuries and white anything finished off Potter .
As for us crappy supporters , they'll be less crappy supporters next year IMO !

Did not Tim Sheens get pole axed even though (i) he had another couple of years to go on his existing contract and (ii) had some years earlier coached the side to a premiership. Compare this to Potter who didn't even have a contract when the Board decided not to renew it. Also compare Sheens winning percentage in his last two year of coaching WT to Potter's two years with WT. If you play or support rugby league you have to follow the referee's decision. As Hobbo2803 said, "let's move on. Potter is gone, full stop. Let's support the new coach and his staff." Or move on.

Despite you totally not agreeing with his post I actually think you are both right.Potter never really had a chance with all the injuries and whiteanting. However whether you like it or not he did have a lot of baggage going into next year and with a new board and now a new coach(aswell as new coaching assistants and new S and C team)we really will be able to have a fresh start next year.A lot of people on here have been jumping up and down for over 5 years demanding structural change at the top with the Wests Tigers and thats exactly what Mayer has implemented with his much maligned independent review(despite this being exactly what the club needed)He is prepared to make tough unpopular decisions as he knows and is proven in what it takes to succeed.

Disappointing but to be expected unfortunately

If we end up with Parish as coach now , that will do me

It will prove the club has hit rock bottom and we are well and truly completely FUBARed

I wonder who else Mayer has the knives out for ??
