Why are some people reluctant to accept Simmons as a capable new assistant coach? I certainly have no doubts on his ability and welcome his selection.

Royce is an absolute failure of a coach.

How could you possibly have no doubts on his ability?

Wooden spoon at Penrith
In charge of our defense for years when it was abysmal
Sacked from St Helens

Explain to me what ability he has as a coach??

One thing I have learnt from this forum is that there are so many people prepared to knock coaches when they themselves failures because they never had the courage to try coaching.

Yeah Royce is dead wood and a failure in the coaching arena….time to sell cars along the Great Western Hwy Roycie

So because some of us have never coached we can't comment on Royce's abysmal coaching record? You're kidding. Might as well shut this forum down FFS.

Explain to me how you have "no doubts" on his ability when Royce has been a colossal failure in every coaching job he's ever held in his career? He is a failure of a coach and that is a fact.

Penrith and St Helens were failures. Tigers were a lot better when Folkes was here than all those years with Royce (this could be coincidence as there are numerous factors involved but they sure looked fitter and more committed in defence with Folkes)

refresh my memory, but apart from some dudes on here, has the DT or SMH anyone ever linked us to roycie?

Remember him as a player with absolutely zero negativity to his CV…no scandals, no booze, no media rubbish, no poor sportsmanship...always seemed extremely nice

thats great to hear.
staying on at bradford also seemed to show that he was a good bloke (although i dont know much about it).

i am genuinely excited.
bloke who had a good career, was a leader at captain/fullback and has good experience as a coach.
also wants to prove himself back in Aust after being overseas.

not a bad situation to be in.

No thanks to roycie! Need a clean slate so no more jobs for the old boys please!!

We cant afford a decent head coach let alone a clean out. If we manage to sign someone of Potter's reputation it will be a miracle on the club's part and also a decent gesture from Potter who could command a lot more. As long as Potter is calling the shots, I have no problems with Roycie being at the club. At the end of the day he answers to whoever the head coach is.

Exactly, and if Royce and Georgallis are under contract there's no point paying out an extra $300k or so.

Just read this article in the Sun Newspaper UK.
They believe today it will be announced.

Tigers think coach Potter looks hotter
MICK POTTER will today be named coach at Aussie NRL side Wests Tigers.

Potter, 47, will be the NRL’s lowest-paid coach on £157,500 a season.

But it is certainly better than at Bradford Bulls, where he has worked for NOTHING since July after being made redundant by the administrator.

Potter has beaten off ex-Catalan coach Kevin Walters and Matt Parish, who was at Salford last season.

How can you be a failure at something you have never tried?

You can be a failure by commenting on something you have never tried, and therefore know very little about, and denigrating the person who has honestly tried at the venture. Is that too deep?

Sorry to wake you up to the real world but the only way that can be achieved is by every fan holding chook raffles and donating the money to the Wests Tigers who will create the "New Super Assistant Coach Fund". West Tigers don't appear to have the money for such a cause at the moment.

Sounds like a real world solution.

If roycie isn't yet signed then a non-issue…

So the only people who can comment on coaches abysmal records are coaches themselves?

OK.

:wtf

Sounds like you're describing Wayne Pearce. Hopefully he is a better coach…

He did win a SOO as NSW coach and his record at Balmain and then Wests Tigers wasn't that bad.

I also have the right to form and express an opinion…an intelligent one at that that is based on clear facts......to answer the last part of your question...not at all....why do you ask?...or are you being......

Unbelievable theyve dragged this out yet another week
amateur amateur amateur

I agree 100%, I know we all want to know and that training doesn't start for a couple of weeks but it seems to be taking an eternity!

What's worse is the club gives out no info whatsoever - even just an update that interviews are going well and an announcement will come soon would be nice.

We are now less than two weeks from the start of pre-season training and are the only club without a coach.
