Potter v Walters Right call ??

Do you still believe we made the right call ??

Should we have chosen Walters instead of Potter or will this be the right call long term ??

If Royce was always going to be the defensive coach , maybe with Walters attacking flair he may of been a better call and would of had better structures in attack for us to work with .

I dont think the players respect Potter…or at least thats how it looks from the outside in...walters would not have been any better...we need to get rid of Royce, Georgallis and the whole medical/conditioning team....they are failures

Do you really think we wouldn't be in the same position with Walters? Its still Sheens' crap squad. None of this is Potters fault, I just hope he knows how to fix it.

If's, but's and maybe's. Not sure how well any coach would go with the amount of injuries we have had this season TBH.
People whinging about this team being Sheens' fault need to get over it, every player has 2 arms and 2 legs so with a little bit of courage and commitment they should be able to defend in the middle of the field a hell of a lot better than what we served up against the Rabbits and Dogs.
Sheens transformed this club into a successful one after inheriting the mess that Terry Lamb helped create so if Potter is any sort of a decent coach he should be able to do the same in his time here. Time will tell.

The rot set in last year with Sheens now we are seeing the full effect.
Potters hands are tied on many fronts.
A crippling injury toll.
A boys club mentality he is trying to break.
A diss functional board.
Support staff which need to go.
A second tier cap which we have exhausted .
And take it from Benchy does not like Potter because he does not baby him like Sheenoius did.
Only time will tell but we need to give him two years at least.

It might not be Sheens fault, but the assembled first grade side was his. Blair, Anasta, Reddy, Pettybourne, Thompson. Your right about the defence, it was nothing short of disgusting through the middle. Poor old Woodsy has even caught it now. A huge injury toll i'm sure is not what Potter envisaged would happen this year, but these are the cards he has been dealt. When did Sheens take over…2003? My God there were some floggings in that period between then and 2005 including back to back 50 pointers against the Roosters and Dragons. I wonder if Potter will be given 3 years as Sheens was ?

It wouldnt of mattered… The players arent following his instructions, so why would they listen to Walters?

You guys love to use the theory "it starts at the top" when it comes time for change and sacking admins/coaches, so why aren't you guys questioning the brains-trust out on the field?

Putting in doesn't mean they are doing whats best/right for the TEAM!

Because he was under the impression that he would be the coach this season.

So what? Blair was here last year under his coaching and was as useless then as he is now. You can't coach heart into players.

Maybe not all players, but player do respond. Benji probably put in more effort last night than he has all year.

The problem for Potter is that it is hard to discipline players with the injury toll he has, to send someone back to reserve grade you need to be able to bring someone up and it isn't as simple bringing up juniors, too many of them in your team effects the confidence of the whole team.

Regardless of all the junior talent we have, we were playing better earlier in the year without them. We are getting worse and a lot of that is due to confidence (and injuries). Potter needs the whole team on deck, only then can he work his magic, at the moment all he can do is try to prevent the juniors getting used to a culture of losing. I actually think tonight will help, the team will be really embarrassed by their effort and may turn it around. I just hope there's some money in the coffers for Potter to recruit some meaner forwards for 2014.

What is a concern it seems Potter has little motivational skill by what happened with the player attitude last night, many seemed totally disinterested.

As i said last night, i always thought whoever came in to replace Sheens was always going to have to be a sacrificial lamb just from cleaning the crap he left behind on and off the field.

* The recruitment/retention
* The powder puff mentality of the squad
* The ego's/cliques/boys club mentality of the whole club

All those things exist, the guy isn't a miracle worker who can come in and wave a magic wand (yes i can see the irony) and make everything disappear. He needs time. The only thing up for debate imo is just how much time he needs

Mick Potter needs total autonomy over football operations if he is to be judged. He has been lumped with a clearly inept football department.

Hopefully he is given the power to make changes and bring in his own team. The fact that most o he support stuff as kept there jobs is laughable

All I can say is Good luck Mick!

We can argue all day but it wont make a difference now.
If we had won 7 in a row we would have said we made the right choice.

Tide will change, hang in there. We will learn how to win again. But in the mean time we cant change the past. We sure hope Potter can at least safe us from the spoon

100% Agree

He is in contact with his Bulldog buddies still, and maybe he still has a few contacts out in Dragon land?

#1 Priority for Mick is to get Steve Folkes back as our defensive coach, and #2 is to get Brett Kimmorley/Mick Hagan as our attacking coach.

From there, we need an improvement in the Medical Team… New Science or Technics etc to get players back on the paddock quicker. We are the slowest by a country mile getting players back!

Its off the field we need a bigger budget!
