That's what I thought, they were better the previous 3 years in finals. Manly opened them up easy and gifted the game to them and South's got loose toward the end.
But following unlucky Wests sides 78, 80, 91 and WT 2010, 11, think Balmain 88, 89 even 85 helps to be lucky.
The way South's are going Melbourne may put in a shocker next week like they did against Easts a couple of years ago.

I thought Taafe to half was the move hence not re-signing reynolds

Looks safe as houses at fullback but you can tell he’s a natural halfback

He is a natural Fullback.

The ones to replace Reynolds are Dargon, Hawkins or Illias.

Absolutely! Only moved to KOE half way through the season. A real find for them. Watch the Bulldogs go for him to replace Duffy (in 23)

As much as I love Benji, the problem wasn't if he's good enough IMO. We already had Douehi, Mbye and Reynolds whose best positions were 5/8.

Benji was in our top 5 best players in 2020 but we had too many 5/8 in the team and simply didn't make sense to buy another one.

That's what I think anyway, who knows the real reasons?

I think Benji went alright with us last year and that actually gave him the platform to get another year. His career was probably over if we did not bring him back from reserve grade at Brisbane where he was not being utilised at all.

Pleased for Taafe but when he played against us in JF did absolutely nothing and was poor.

Clearly getting promoted to KOE helped - pity we didn’t get the memo and stuck with older players. Not being disrespectful and to KOE who were winning games but some of the Flegg players were just as good if not better. I think Dillon got one game? Ridiculous.

In future, we need to be more proactive in getting the younger players a go earlier in KOE if we want long term success.

With the loss of many players, and most importantly Bennett, I feel it is unlikely that Souths will continue to feature in the big dance...Still a much greater chance that we'll have (at least for a few more years). As for Benji, he gave us his best but lately, more rocks than diamonds I feel, in the way that he was being used at the WT.

Demitriou is no slouche and by all reports has been very important to the team this year.

But I do agree, losing Renno is huge.
Taaf, Ilias and the 9 Muzoulias? Sorry, can't spell.. look very promising. Don't rate Hawkins though.

Surely C Walker won't be a gun forever either.
