Hi everyone
Been thinking about joining the forum for a very long time as I’ve been lurking now for many years. I have very strong opinions on this subject and I may be a little biased as I live in the Macarthur area and have Been a Magpies supporter since 1992 but am now a diehard Wests Tigers supporter. We really need to take advantage of the growing area out here. We have two great Junior leagues and a stadium that is next to a train station and minutes from the Hume Highway and M7.
I’m not trying to have a go at anyone but people who say if we move to Campbelltown I’ll hand back my membership are being quite offensive. Should my father and I have handed back our membership every time we have had games moved away from Campbelltown? We love the club and I would personally follow the side no matter where we played. I travel all over Sydney each year to watch us play and quite enjoy the 45 mins to an hour it takes to get to each ground in Sydney, it’s all part of the match day experience in my opinion Anyway I look forward to being involved with the forum.
Go Wests Tigers!!!

welcome to the forum mate.

Like you I travel, I like Cambo. I'll be happy if there are a couple, even a few, games at Leichhardt as ive watched football there with 3 generations of my family and thats special

My first trip to Leichhardt was in 1999 to watch Wests play Balmain and have enjoyed going there ever since. I hope we continue to play some games there for many years to come as it’s an important part of our history. A lot of good memories and some not so good but that’s all part of being a fan

spot on.

I believe sharing Liverpool with the Bulldogs would be a disaster for us. I went to High School there and it wasn’t much of a Rugby League town then and doubt much has changed since then. I also believe that ground sharing doesn’t help with our lack of identity that many commentators accuse us of

If the governments both State and Federal would throw the money in to build a Parramatta style stadium for the South West I would be happy to see 75% of the games there and a few at Leichhardt for our joint venture purpose.

Campbelltown in its current incarnation with a simple building of a new grandstand would not be in my opinion good enough. The South West is a growth area and needs a stadium of their own and we could be playing out of it.

Unless Homebush was reconfigured to a rectangular stadium as was originally proposed it is not a great ground to watch the football from, with the only benefit of it being able to hold the large crowds that we may get on Easter Sunday or God forbid a home final.

I want us to have a home and if it is Campbelltown then I will support it.

A GOOD redevelopment of CSS would serve two purposes for the Macarthur Area It would be used year round with the A league Macarthur Bulls and WTS making good use of it plus throw in some outdoor events and would make the whole deal worth it

1 team 1 home ground no matter were it is. and respect the elder's once a year each with a home game at the heritage grounds

I really enjoyed watching the junior footy at the parkcin camden. Spent the day in Campbelltown and was the first time realised how much development is going on down there. I am a fan of being based in Campbelltown and not Liverpool. Although not the biggest fan of Campbelltown stadium, would probably need a new stadium.

I'd be happy enough to base junior and reserve grade games there.

When the parra and homebush stadium deal expires we will have to make a decision soon enough so will be interesting. My feeling is we will play more games at Campbelltown and LO which I'd be happy with

I like Campbelltown as a ground. It has a good mix of seating, hill, and family area. The train station, parking around the area and club next door make it convenient in a lot of ways. However it is the furthest ground for me to get to nowadays which makes things tricky to attend regularly.

The club has shown that if they win games Campbelltown can get big crowds it’s just a matter of whether that is enough to sustain the club through the good and bad times financially.

The original article feels like Lee was putting the feelers out to see what the reaction was. Sounds like we’ll know either way by the end of this season.

I played all my junior footy around the Inner West as did most of my mates that go to games at LO. If all games were moved to Campbelltown most wouldn’t go to any games there. They’d still watch on Kayo or at a pub in Balmain or Ryde areas. Maybe they would be replaced with new fans from the South West region but maybe not. It will be a big call by the club.

Footy as we knew it is only now available on YouTube really it's changed like everything else.

So the way things are better to keep the club without a spiritual home so we can all see what we wish in it depending on our point of view and past experiences lest it brings out the demons in people.

Good point think from a majority of fans perspective would prefer Leichhardt Oval.

Leichhardt Oval being a small ground has unbelievable atmosphere even when the crowd is small say around 5k.
Traffic us a huge problem post game, is there a way of really boosting free ferry transport maybe.
It's been ages since my family has been there so I don't know the current situation, what I do remember though was how bad the traffic was. ?
For memory, one major western stand and better facilities is all that's needed isn't it???

Wests Tigers fans stretch far and wide and as a Central Coast resident basically my entire life I know for a fact we have a lot of Tigers fans. Whilst Campbelltown Stadium in theory seems like a great option for an upgrade it will do little to apeal to fans from north of the city.

Leichhardt Oval is basically the perfect central location for so many fans. Close for anyone in the Sydney area and close enough for those from North and South of the city as well. Parking and traffic are still an issue however I never drive to a game there knowing that. Very easily accessible via train and lightrail though. The atmosphere at a packed Leichhardt is unlike any other. With modern facilites it would truely be one of the great grounds of the country.

I've personally only ever been to one match at CTown and have no real desire to attend another. Found the experience pretty underwhelming and we won as well that day. Was a sunny Sat arvo and less than 5k people there. If that same game had been played at Leichhardt it would have been a sell out or close to.

This must not be allowed to happen for the same reasons Campbelltown must not be the sole home ground.

Otherwise, some like me will be awakened by spirits and demand Lidcombe oval with Roy as coach. Been watching too many old games on YouTube as it is, can almost smell the programs, burned grass and dencorub and hear the kids banging on the advertising hoardings.

Funny, I remember threads like this in 05.

So we all feel at home we must be homeless.

By 2036 the Macarthur region will have a projected population of around 600 000 with another 100 000 people in Wollondilly. Both these areas are OUR Junior catchments. We cannot continue to neglect these areas or the smarter clubs like Souffs, the Roosters and even the Bulldogs will continue to gain ground. Not To mention Bradfield that will be home to some 1.5 million people. Are we going to just let Say the Panthers take that whole junior area for themselves. Our Future is the South West and if we continue to treat the area like we have been since 2005 I’m sure we will lose it

We must’ve been at the same crowd then, when I went all I heard was Wests till I die and people carrying on about both the sides, other then that a lot of drongos drinking piss till they fell to the ground or having punch ups.

Glad I'm not making the decision for a home ground because whatever you do you are going to alienate around two thirds of the fan base for the simple reason that we have had at least 3+ home grounds for ever and a day.

The fact is that this has just gone on way too long and I'm pretty sure if they had of done the rectangular rebuild of ANZ, it would have been the ideal ground because the location makes pretty good sense and even if everyone wasn't in favour of it, it still would have been the best compromise to satisfy the majority of people.

Bottom line is someone has to make a decision one way or the other and do it soon and start rebuilding a fan base to make up for the numbers of people that say they will walk away from where ever we end up making our home ground.
