Probably another reason I really enjoyed the game. No senile old Rabs talking over the genuine footy brains.

Unlike Richie who was still composed in his later years, Rabs has lost it completely. It annoys the bejesus out of me listening to him mispronounce names, get players mixed up or argue with other commentators.

It takes him 5 minutes to pick up whats happening. Someone will drop the ball, the whistle will blow for a strip, and he's still calling the knock on.

I also think Warren has had his time and I didn't miss the constant Gus/Warren drivel. They are as bad as each other. I also wouldn't mind Fittler and Johns to go either. They think they're comedians. They are both morons. Fittler more so

The way Johns giggles like a pre-teen girl is embarrassing. Taking nothing away from their football brains, but neither of them are cut to be on television, especially Johns. Talks out of his nose, and has the worst elocution i've ever seen. The only person i know who comes close to matching it is his brother. But Matt has a personality, so that somewhat makes up for it. Joey doesn't.

Yeah and Joey was a footballer and the other dope was loser hanging on to his brothers ability.

Didn't Foxtel have a system where you could turn off just the commentators, who are all pains in the neck? You still get the effects mikes, the hits & crowd noise as well as the ref and players.
I would like to see this as an option for every televised game. & while I'm at it how about The Nine Network televise games on the HD channel (GEM). its noticeably better on even a small (32inch) 1080p full HD panel.

Im in shock that a lot of people DONT like Ray Warren.

IMO he is the voice of NRL, will be a sad loss when he no longer calls the games.

On the other hand i MUTE the TV when Ray Hadley is calling the game

Its not about liking or disliking. I don't dislike him, but he's fallen off the map as far as commentators go. Warren ''as a result'' Smith is the no 1 caller in the game now. I'm surprised 9 haven't made a play for him. They probably will after Rabs retires.

Rabs is like your crazy grandfather rambling at the dinner table. You don't hate him, but you wish he'd shut up and go away.

How right you are ! , RAY WARREN rambles on like a drunken sailor & waxes lyrical about yesteryear, then talks about the game coming up on sunday , all the while the game in front of him is ignored , then he sucks up to whoever is with him in the box . He probably means well , BUT, It was terrific to have a night without him .join me in retirement Ray , your time is up !

Agree with you Shane. Warren is so annoying with his sudden shouting (for no apparent reason), overly verbose, long winded drivel while Johns and Fittler (especially) are inarticulate, badly spoken wastes of space who add nothing to the call what so ever. Gasnier has appalling English skills too while Sterlo, Smith and Brandy are head and shoulders above the others in terms of acumen and fluency.

I don't mind listening to Ray Hadley calling football. He has always been a brilliant Rugby League caller and before he got success as a talkback host he was enjoyable there to. Around the time he was understudy to John Laws on 2UE. Ratings unfortunately has gone to his head and is an absolute punish to listen to weekdays. The continuous call team including Hadley would have to be the worst entertainment on radio.
Warren Smith is great and I didn't mind the caller last night also.

Matt Russell is great too, though I think they shipped him off to NZ to call alongside Halligan (who I also can't stand). The sooner the broom goes through the better, but that won't happen until the NRL stand up for their product and listen to the fans.

You are being a bit hard on Rabs. Unlike Cricket with Richie(legend I know) Rugby League is called at a much quicker pace so combine that with a vintage age and of course the cricket commentator is gonna look more composed. Also whilst Phil Gould has a good footy brain I do think most arguments are Phils fault as opposed to Rabs.

He has my respect.
Even though he carries on like my 70 year old grand dad he still makes the hair stand up and get me pumped for big games.

I'd kill to have a TV/Radio voice like that.. Actually i wont kill but it would be dam handy

Love the rabs I'm sure most of you wont be working at his age give me rabs over all the rest

He has been synonymous with rugby league for many years but he needs to refocus on his calling approach and concentrate on the game itself, too much time now is spent trying to have a conversation instead of calling the actual game or even worse plugging some other show that is coming up on nine. This later point makes me think it may not all be his choice but that of the program director or whoever telling him what to say and how to say it, if that is the case then they need to refocus.

He was rested for Origin on Wednesday night.
Plenty more comms I like better. Smith. Voss. The gut The other night was good.
Not many worse than rabs but Tim Gilbert just don't cut it…he's terrible

I agree,i enjoy his calls and the banter with Gould but i have noticed he's starting to make mistakes, must be close to calling it a day.

He's no champion…he's just a commentator.
Speaking of respect...you should respect others right to voice an opinion
