Hate that Madge had a go at senior players in his press conference then kept brooks in the team and dropped two rookies

What the hell did Stefano do wrong to be dropped? He's been excellent this year

Why the hell would you swap Mbye and Doueihi?

Madden on the bench doesn't make sense to me either. He's an out and out halfback, what use is he on the bench? He's not a hooker and taking brooks off 60 minutes into a game would be stupid too

Ridiculous list. Would love to hear an explanation from Madge about it

Brooks will be hooked if he don’t step up . That’s why he’s chosen Madden and that’s why he’s temporarily put Doueihi back into the centre’s.
If Brooks somehow performs a miracle there’s no need to play Madden at all .
Just means Liddle will have to go for 80

What if both mbye and Brooks play poorly like expected?

Problem is swapping halfbacks mid game is really silly. Halfbacks need to slowly get their way into a game and figure out what the opposition is doing in defence and all that, throwing a new one out there just disrupts your attack completely I reckon.

Madden gets a go but is then under pressure being brought on mid game ,IMO thats rubbish and not a good way to bring in a rookie at 7 poor form coach .

Doueihi tries his guts out and almost drags us back in Sunday's game, meanwhile brooks and Mbye were rubbish and brooks keeps his spot, Mbye gets essentially promoted and Doueihi shifted form his preferred position

Maguire stated in his post game press conference “that’s leadership. What’s being said behind the try line. Owning it. All those things that need to happen whilst you’re behind the try line. our older guys need to take control. All those sorts of things need to go on to fix up those areas of the game”


So he drops a 19 year old 3 gamer, a 20 year old two game and a 20 year old 11gamer.

Bearing in mind he has signed most of the top 30 barring Packer & Mbye - and yet the team has the second worst defence in the comp despite his reputation as a defensive minded coach. Given all this, his coaching tenure has seen his team keep the opposition to below 20 points only ONCE in close to 20 consecutive matches.

His squad has slid down the ladder since his arrival and proudly for the friends and family of Jason Taylor; Maguire now has a worse coaching record than him at WT.

From memory his most recent coaching record is

20 wins from 53 coached at WT

18 wins from his last 51 coached at Souths.

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire has made several changes to his side to take on the Newcastle Knights for their Round 10 clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Moses Mbye has been named at five-eighth for the second time this season — with Adam Doueihi swapping places to centre — while Tommy Talau’s return from suspension sees him take the place of Zac Cini, who drops out of the 21-man squad.

Jacob Liddle has been named to start at hooker for the 50th game of his career, while interchange forward Thomas Mikaele will also bring up the half century of games — all of which have been played in Wests Tigers colours.

Young halfback Jock Madden will become Wests Tigers Player #244 after being named alongside Mikaele on the bench with Shawn Blore set to play his first NRL game of the year.

Blore’s inclusion sees Stefano Utoikamanu drop back to the reserves, alongside Michael Chee Kam, Jake Simpkin and Tom Amone.

Wests Tigers and Newcastle will once again play for the Allan McMahon Shield — named in memory of the former Balmain player and inaugural Knights Coach — with Wests Tigers holding a slender four-point lead following their win over Newcastle in Round 3.
