The competition really is starved of quality halves. Can't see this changing anytime soon with with very few good prospects coming through. Penrith and Melbourne set for years of domination.

Interesting, I think it was Phil Gould who commented on this. Apparently it's something that begins in the juniors - with the smaller, more nimble players often making up the halves positions. Once they get a little older, a lot of them are monstered by some of the kids developing in size more quickly, and they often give up the game. Feasible judgement and I'm sure a situation he would see happen many times in his line of work.

I think it’s to do with the structures they were all taught as well . It was all about high percentage football , at an elite junior level all the way through , now with the sudden rule changes , the best players are the ones who’ve adapted to the ab lib stuff better and quicker .

Why the hell would you swap Mbye and Doueihi?

Madden on the bench doesn't make sense to me either. He's an out and out halfback, what use is he on the bench? He's not a hooker and taking brooks off 60 minutes into a game would be stupid too

Ridiculous list. Would love to hear an explanation from Madge about it
