If we miss the eight, especially after how we started, it is just as bad as JT missing the eight a couple of years back. Ivan still has his team, they were matching it with the best at the start of the year and they have fallen off a cliff. Persistence with Lolohea who is simply not up to it at fullback and no one readily available to replace an underperforming Benji (Reynolds perma-injured and Gamble yet to prove himself,) and continued issues with the hooking position (yes he has signed Farah, but the dash was left a little late,) has sent the season off the rails.

Top eight is an absolute minimum now. We've been in every game this year, some game management in those games we dropped by two points or less could have seen us sitting in a very different position on the ladder.

How will missing the 8 this year set us up to succeed long term...the roster won't change that greatly in 2019..numpty's can only be replaced by numpty's...for all of Ivan's great work..high quality players won't come here unless we can show playing finals is possible...petering out at 9th 10th or 11th wont cut it...even Taylor got a mob with arguably a worse roster to 9th and he was the anti-christ..

We almost came 8th two years ago and will almost come 8th this year. I cant see the improvement. Different names, different faces but the same crap being served up and there isnt much coming next year either.

If you or others cannot remember it it cannot be significant can it? My point is that coming 8th is a great improvement but not the end if the team finishes 9th or 10th. As Cleary has stated we are building up this season. The next season or two will see us prosper further due to the work that has been put in this season.

We dont have to accept mediocrity but we also have to be realistic about our roster compared to the other teams ahead of us.
Our three biggest signings Packer, Matulino, and Reynolds are not playing well enough to make a significant difference to our position on the table - yet they were the best we could attract even with money to spend.
We are well short of the talent required to mix it with the top teams and our roster is makeshift at best.
Mybe and Farahs inclusion should be an improvement but still need to see how they gel.

I cant remember who came 2nd on the ladder last year, but I would have liked it to be us.

I hope youre right about next year but weve heard all before from Potter,Taylor,Cleary. Always next year.

I dont see any improvement in the squad this year. A few individuals have, but not the team.

Probably can’t remember who came 8th, but you remember the finals series. A long time since we featured and if that is acceptable, it will be a while before that changes

The season to be a complete failure if we don't make the finals is a delusional comment to make…we had an ordinary roster and most predicted at the beginning of the season we wouldn't go further than 10/12th....now we are a failure because your expectations were way to high...that equals disappointment...
Our culture and attitude on field have improved no end,we are gaining much needed stability and we have a very good coach..To me that means we have had a successful year on and off the field...we are competitive...

All teams aim for finals football, even rubbish teams without a chance set these goals.
Running 9th is the minor premiership of the losers.

Unrealistic comment re every teams goal is to make the finals,we know that every club wants to play finals football otherwise don't be in the NRL….realistic clubs know that to play finals you need a very competitive and hardened squad of NRL standard players..Its the affordability to purchase those type of players that becomes a hurdle on the way to finals football..as we have proven over again as other clubs have...
If the team was star studded and full of Cronks,Slaters etc and didn't make the finals,you would have to be bitterly disappointed,we don't have them and we have held our own for most games...finishing just outside the 8 and seeing the change in this team defensively and attitude wise,is not a failure for me..

Enjoy mediocrity then. Doesnt affect me.
I want success and finishing 9th doesn't equate to that.

It must affect you…if the team isn't to your expectations with what we could afford,then maybe different colours to follow may suit you better,if we play finals footy that would be great if we don't then it won't matter to me,I'm used to my team and how they play...

You're just a random internet identity with an opinion.
If you enjoy missing the finals year in year out then thats on you. For me i need finals football as a measure for success.
