Referees and commentators

Seems a case of horses for courses, as there has been no issue in matches this evening. When the spoiler sides played last night it was a different story and they were rightly penalised.

The coaches are training there players to spoil the opposition at ever opportunity…. there certainly is a percentage of penalties that could be seen as excessive but watching these game I have no problem with the refs blowing the whistle as they are warranted .
This leads to games being a bit stop start but the coaches or clubs should not be complaining to the NRL they themselves should clean THERE act up .

Even if the players adapt and the refs don't have to blow the pea out of it anymore, do we want what that game looks like?
I know I don't. I'm pretty sure if most thought about it they won't either.

I do.

Some people are so gullible

Watch the games closely… I guarantee this won't change a thing come seasons end

Not sure i know what you mean ink. I'm just sick of the watering down of the rules of the game. Playing the ball correctly, back chat and other basic stuff is easily fixed. I don't understand the push back. I hope they go further and make scrums competitive again and also put down a scrum when the player kicking for touch steps over the mark. Bring it on. It's not hard to get the basics right.

I'm beginning to think this is all nothing more than a PR stunt.
People are buying it…. I don't think much will have changed by seasons end

Hey INK ,you watched the SAINTS v KNIGHTS game today…the ref was awesome,he let the game flow and only blew the whistle when there was a blatent penalty to be given ...he deserves kudos for the job he done today....and there were about 20 penalties less than other games this round..this style of refereeing will bring the crowds back...there was a great crowd at WIN stadium today and never left until the game was over...

They ref fed well today… They ignored the edict from Greenberg otherwise all those indiscretions I saw but they let go would've been penalised, it was a good game with some good try's and passages of play and plenty of ball in play

So when Parra score a try after an illegal play the ball or they defend their line against us because they are offside all 6 tackles will we still be happy that the ref ‘let the game flow’?

Happy with the refs today, the game flowed well when two teams concentrated on playing footy and they still pinged both teams fairly.

Just had the misfortune of listening to Rothfield on both 360 and the 7.30 show. This man should not be given airspace. He is arguing strongly that the refs crackdown must stop, that it is ruining the game. Coincidentally, the crackdown effects his team (sharks) more than most. He is always agenda driven and couldn’t lie straight in bed!

Totally agree. Rothfield is a fool. Both he and that idiot who wears the red bandana are absolute oxygen thieves. I change channels as soon as i see either of them on TV.

Well Luke Lewis was asked today his thoughts on the situation. He said that the stop start nature of a high penalty game was a positive for his team as it turned the game into a grind which is exactly what they like. But I agree with you that Buzz is a complete idiot.

The guy is a Tool - but we all know that.

Obviously the Telecrap is braindead as well for letting him pretend to write for them.

The funniest thing about the commentators blowing up about the penalties and saying they are speaking for the fans is that if you look aound most places on the internet including comments made by the public directed at said commentators the public is divided on the issue. These guys are speaking for themselves under the pretense of speaking for the fans.

Interesting to see the Sunday footy show Matt Checchin asking his VR for 'numbers' , 'how's it looking' , 'should I keep doing what I'm doing' ?

This proves they are going into games with preconceived ideas… As. If we didn't know

They should just judge what they see.

I noticed Masters and Kaylen Pongia both not binned for pro fouls... Normal programming resuming
