Richards a liability

Halatau and Richards were two of the best out there today. Experience comes to the fore in tight games.

Thankfully the forum doesnt pick the team because even now people still pick teams without these guys.

Teddy was very good too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ahh it was only ginnane and Andrew johns laughed at him

Seriously the try for teddy looked spectacular but it was a miskick and a quicker winger would have scored themselves

Other points:

Unable to out jump Chris Sandow one on one contesting a bomb

Gets put away down the sideline and kicks it 30m infield to 3 parra players

Reguarly gets pushed back bringing the ball from our end

Has a 5m start on David gower and gets run down within 20ms

Is he wrong in pointing out facts?

How about pointing out some positives as well…. :unamused:

I notice how nobody actually tries to retort my comments on him and why I think his flaws out weigh his pros. In general it's basically 'you suck.' I have said many, many times that his boot is a massive weapon and I wouldn't swap his goal kicking for anyone's.

When he had a shocker against souths nobody came in to justify his poor showing, because it was indefensible.

The reason he had to resort to the 'kick and hope' was because he isn't fast, or strong enough to get over the line in a tight space. Put nofo, kevvie or the guy who we let go instead of him on the left wing and they don't need to kick it, they score themselves, that's my point. If you're happy for him to have to kick infield because he isn't good enough to score that's fine, but by far the majority of the time you'll see the result of the one earlier in the second half where he kicked it straight to an eels player then the miskick that bobbed up off the shin for teddy

Next time you call someone a liability, try not to pick a guy who heavily contributes to games the club has won.

Would you at least back peddle a bit and agree he isn't the liability you originally made him out to be? We can all be wrong, admitting mistakes doesn't hurt.

If you read my initial post you will see that I have said I don't think he can be sustained in a poor team, because his deficiencies would be magnified and cost us. We are currently playing like a fairly good team, so the assets Pat bring to the team can be amplified and his deficiencies hidden. It's why a team like souths can have utter garbage like reddy, Goodwin and Millard in a team yet still win games. The all round strength of the team can cover them. Remember we won a grand final with Daniel fitzhenry in the team…

Calling Pat a liability was probably the wrong way wording, however I stand by all the points that I made about where he lets us down, I don't believe he has improved any of these and In my opinion what he brings to our team doesn't make up for them.

Again it's a shame that his supporters generally have just read the thread title and assumed I've simply said 'Pat suck' as their common line in this thread seems to be 'hahhaaa your a d*ck Pat is awesome' instead of trying to constructively build his case.

You are definitely fighting a losing battle on this ATM fergiefurr!

No one plays the perfect game, and you simply can't state with certainty that any other winger would have done better than he did with the opportunities yesterday. They may have dropped the ball, over-run the pass, or got an ankle tap etc.

Pat made the most of his opportunities yesterday, his defence is much better in the current system and he does have talent. Plus, he plays with full commitment.

He ain't the fastest, he ain't the flashiest and he ain't perfect but I want him in my team this year!

I'm still astounded by the revelation that a player will look good in a team playing well and will look worse in a team playing badly.

Its moments like this that the Internet was created for.

Totally agree and like benji he will remain a legend of this club… Scored the flick pass try with a damaged strapped up ankle... Total heart, and mire importantly a game breaker with his kicking....

I never comment without reading posts Fergie.
My apologies for not mentioning the one positive you mentioned in your post. Pats great kicking game.

I'm surprised nobody has picked up on it, 'fergiefurr' is Pat Richards, lapping up all the adulation on a weekly basis, and deservedly so.

His strength and commitment to get the ball down over the try-line, is one of reasons he is always up there in the top point scorers columns. Even when he get whacked in the head doing so. Fergiefurr he's not "soft".

I think I saw the mental giants at Soundwave years ago.

You can't make generalized statements that could apply to basically any player in the league and claim victory. The guy is not a liability, many of your points don't make any huge important distinction that directly relates specifically to Richards.

The guy played a big part in winning us games last year and has started off doing the same this year.

I will bite…..the bloke is not even close to a liability.

He is a huge asset.

He is nearly impossible to stop anyhere close to the line due to his size, strength and he is quite light on his feet as well....

He does some dirty hit ups when we are under the pump in our own territory and makes good metres, and is very safe under the high ball.

He kicks goals at 90%.

Kicks drop outs further than anyone else. Can pop a pressure FG from almost anywhere.

Has the most offensively dangerous kicks in the comp by FAR,no one even comes close. HIs kick offs and torpedoes are a nightmare and we often get the ball back.

I cant believe with all this overwhelming evidence, and how good he is going that anyone would still believe he is anything but a real matchwinner and a cool head......yes please!!

I see what you see Simon  Pat's one of a kind..so very glad he's in our team :sign:
