Richards a liability

How would an accountant handle this particular set of books??…..

Liability far outweighs our assets ...and we are still winning.....??

Creative accounting I reckon, this is one liability I would love to keep on my books for all of 2015......

The thing about patty is that he just has a winning thing around him.

Whenever he goes, he seems to win.

He seems to be one of those players where the bounce of the ball always favours him, the intercept twice in two years against parra, the fluky kick inside.

He has a boot that will be the main attraction in the national sports museum for sure but as fergie said, as a winger I don't think he's much better than naiqama or noffa. Grubbers and pace are his biggest weakness.

Other points:

Unable to out jump Chris Sandow one on one contesting a bomb

Gets put away down the sideline and kicks it 30m infield to 3 parra players

Reguarly gets pushed back bringing the ball from our end

**Has a 5m start on David gower and gets run down within 20ms**

Sorry Fergie but after watching the highlights package I have to take you to task on this last point too.

Gower actually had the start on Pat. Gower threw the wayward pass while facing back toward his own line, and was actually starting to hoof it in defence before Pat even grabbed the ball (3mins 30sec). When Pat did get the possession, Gower actually has about a 5m start and is already running.

So Pat did pretty good to almost get around him and a good kick away…

Time for a bump. If we win this guy is alright but against a quality team he is pretty ordinary. There was one chance when he had a heap of space up against Aubusenn and he couldn't do a thing.

Add to that an ordinary kicking game and its hard to see why he is so highly rated.

He can win us games when its close by his kicking game but that is where it ends. When he gets half a chance in general play he will fail I think pretty much every time.

I'm not trying to be a cliche. We need better players. Players that can blow teams off the park.

That was a pathetic performance by Richards and his all round play as a winger is below second rate.

For the life of me I can't find the thread where I argued Pats goal kicking is overrated and Moses should be our kicker, so i guess this thread will have to do….what's he kicking at 68%?? I said it at the start of the year the high looping kickers are inconsistent. Sure if u need a miracle 60 metre kick to win you want Richards out there, but generally speaking his style is not suited to week in week out goal kicking.

I thought his overall game was ok though tonight and god knows we lack size out wide so I think he keeps his spot. But I still maintain that he isn't our best option as a goal kicker. Moses would kick at 80%.

Taking his kicking off the table, Richards is a poor winger. I'm hoping to see new blood on the left wing in 2016

standard game from pat.

put on the outside of his winger but has to come infield due to lack of pace

a bomb goes up and he…i dont know what he did...didnt he kind of run away from it? no one ended up contesting it, was laughable

his ''invaluable kick offs'' we've retrieved what, one all year?

as mentioned his goal kicking is below 70%

he wasnt the worst on the field last night and he certainly didnt cost us the game, but again was shown for the poor player that he is.

if the reports about a new two year contract are true then i give up.

And yet… when we win next week a different group of posters will come on this thread and bag you Chicken Littles out. Just stop.

Just to clarify this. He was put outside of Aubusson. It wasn't a quick player that he was put on the outside of. It was a slow player.

I rate Richards kicking game, his defence isn't bad and he makes some tough metres for us. The problem is that he is a poor attacking winger. Its that simple.

I don't get this at all. Yes his kicking game is pretty good. The problem is that when he gets put into half a gap outside of being 1-2 metres from the try line he struggles.

The question becomes can we carry him because of his kicking game. Maybe the thread title is wrong. He is a liability in some facets of the game however in others he is an asset.

My personal opinion is that we would be a much better team with Koro out there. Failing getting Koro there we should be looking for a fast elusive winger and replacing Richards because we need to be looking to win games via scoring tries. Maybe this isn't going to happen this year but it would be great if the club had a plan on an obvious area where we need to improve.

Watch the tries scored by the respective players. Richards has run a collective 7ms for his 7 tries.
