Richards a liability

I notice how nobody actually tries to retort my comments on him and why I think his flaws out weigh his pros. In general it's basically 'you suck.' I have said many, many times that his boot is a massive weapon and I wouldn't swap his goal kicking for anyone's.

When he had a shocker against souths nobody came in to justify his poor showing, because it was indefensible.

The reason he had to resort to the 'kick and hope' was because he isn't fast, or strong enough to get over the line in a tight space. Put nofo, kevvie or the guy who we let go instead of him on the left wing and they don't need to kick it, they score themselves, that's my point. If you're happy for him to have to kick infield because he isn't good enough to score that's fine, but by far the majority of the time you'll see the result of the one earlier in the second half where he kicked it straight to an eels player then the miskick that bobbed up off the shin for teddy

I notice how you never notice his positives.
It must be personal. Did he refuse you an autograph…LOL

This thread gets a bump every week!

You need to be careful bumping this thread as a certain forum member will neg you for it.

Neg me (again) if I'm wrong, but haven't two out of three wins been attributable to Richards this season? :roll

Yep, definitely a liability! :unamused:

In the Melbourne game NZW bombed to Koro's wing in the first five minutes and he dropped it. It was obvious part of their game plan.

I dunno if anyone remembers but there used to be this punter called Tigger, never quite dealt with the JV and was always deathriding us.

Wrote this epic post about how we would come last.

Year was 2005.

It got bumped a hell of a lot.

The bloke pretty much dissapeared!

CB I think he has every right to. This thread gets bumped to give it to Fergie with Pats' good moments, so why shouldn't he respond with Pats negative moments to add the correct balance to the argument. If others want to dig him out with only one side then he can reply with only the opposite side IMO. What's fair for them is fair for him

I can't really give the bloke too much stick for being slow or overrunning the passes when he is still breaking the game open, albeit via unorthodox means.

One thing I will say is that I admire Fergie having the guts to state his opinion, be it contrary to the general consensus and stick by it. People will only continue to give it to him whilever Pat is scoring or setting up tries. However, I'm sure when Pat lets us down, there'll be people ready to jump in and readily agree with Fergie also when his deficiencies contribute to losses, just as they will sing his praises when he heavily contributes to wins.

I do agree Patty has deficiencies to his game, but they haven't really been found out and tested yet, and if they continue not to be exposed we have no good reason to get up him.

I just heard his named mention by Ginane and Sterlo as a possible Origin winger…Good on him.....

Ahh it was only ginnane and Andrew johns laughed at him

Seriously the try for teddy looked spectacular but it was a miskick and a quicker winger would have scored themselves

Other points:

Unable to out jump Chris Sandow one on one contesting a bomb

Gets put away down the sideline and kicks it 30m infield to 3 parra players

Reguarly gets pushed back bringing the ball from our end

Has a 5m start on David gower and gets run down within 20ms

Are you seriously trying to point out the negative moments of his game after he produced what he did today.

Wow!

Is he wrong in pointing out facts?

How about pointing out some positives as well…. :unamused:

Yeah it was LU…...he was loving life till about half way through the season. And then when we got on that roll,he posted less and less and everyone kept bumping it.

It pretty much killed him off and was never seen again and they archived it as the unltimate fail thread!

I just hope Pattycakes continues being a massive liability every week

By the way , when did they start giving MOTM awards to liabilities ??

Nicely put Happy. Pat was massive against the Eels. Such a humble man. All class. Totally deserved MOM. Didn't he put on a show for his 100th game…
Some on here loved the win ...but are criticising the player that helped us win...go figure :crazy

And again, koro would have scored 3 tries if he was out left winger today

On current form perhaps, but at the Tigers his positioning was all over the shop, his defensive reads were appalling, he couldn't catch a high ball if you lowered it to him on a string and he was missing more tackles a game than brooks. It's not like Koro wasn't given opportunities in the top grade. He was dropped fair and square after a shocker against the Saints in round 1 2014

Now I've been a big fan of Marika since his second first grade game when he scored 4 tries in what was basically a touch footy game against Parra. I was always frustrated he couldn't get his game sorted under Potter. As it was we had a servicable pair of wingers in Nofo and Richards while Koro was getting paid top 25 money to play park footy in NSW cup. Wests Tigers couldn't afford to burn cap money on potential, which the storm apparently could.

I remember watching Koro's first game against us for the storm (which we lost big time) and what stuck with me was how much Billy Slater babysat Koro. He was doing the work for two covering fullback and wing in defence, I think he even got pinged collaring a kick chaser from behind rather than risk Koro contesting it.

I wish Marika all the best at the Storm. He's a hell of a proposition to stop once he's moving the right way holding onto the ball but I don't believe he'd be playing first grade for the Tigers today had he stayed. He needed a side that could carry a prospect, and he probably needed Craig Bellamy's guidance and structure to get himself sorted.

Agree with all of that . Good post CZ.

Plenty of kids want to be just like Pat Richards.

Not a bad thing WD. Pat seems very humble, always respectful and a wonderful family man  kids can do worse than aspire to be like him

can someone please kill this thread - all it will do is make fergiefurr look like a fool as the season progresses - it's just an honest mistake he done - typing w/o thinking - let him off the hook this time

I really think pats spot in the team needs to be in question. There's no doubt that his goal kicking and place kicks are an absolute weapon for us, however is that enough? For a guy his size he is fairly soft. He doesn't offer good dummy half runs/kick returns, his finishing is very poor (I'm sick of him kicking it infield instead if taking on a guy one on one) and he drops a lot more ball then he should. His defence is always questionable, particularly his decision making.

If we were a top 4 side we could carry him for his kicking, however a team like ours already has weak links, we can't afford another glaring one on the wing.

In an encouraging weekend of 9s, Pat was very disappointing yesterday. I know it's only the 9s but naquimas defensive reads were top class and he would hit and stick everytime. Hoeter should also come into consideration as he is good from dummy half and great under the high ball.

I have no doubt that Richards will start the year in first grade but if this form continues (and another guy is performing in the lower grades) I really hope Taylor has the balls to drop him.

Humble Pie.
