Of course it will be the class clown to take over the captaincy. Fitting that someone with Woods personality would be the one to lead us as it reflects the clowns in the front office. There's no one more deserving in the entire team to take over than Lawrence in regards to how he carries himself on and off the field. But I guess you have to appease the folk who see Woods and say "that Woodsy is a knockabout bloke with his wild hair and bushy beard"

To clarify, I'm not upset that Woods was given the nod as much as I am disappointed for Lawrence being overlooked. The guy has paid his dues. He was the next in line till he was nearly crippled. He's sacrificed a lot for this club and really turned a corner this yr form wise, not to mention is a professional in every sense of the word. Very disappointing.

I agree GNR, but the captaincy may eliminate that 'class clown' attitude out of him. Either way, Farah not being captain Is s good move.

I agree with the second part. As for the first, we'll see, I'd like to hope so. Not sure how much respect he'd command from referees with his current personality. To sum it up, appointIng Woods is a PR move, nothing more imo. The evidence of that was when he was appointed captain for a Leichhardt game due to his "2041" rap. But the next week when they were at ANZ, Halatau was given the nod.

True. Dene would be s good choice too. Will be interesting who gets it.

It is not often that we agree but in the case Chris Lawrence would make a great captain of the NRL side, speaks so well and has overcome major injuries to make it back (things our younger players can look up to). Again I too could live with Woods being captain.

Without doubt now Robbie will leave the club with the signing of Ballin. The club already has a much young hooker in waiting in Cherrington, now Ballin, so why would Robbie stay. He still is the incumbent NSW number 9 so he can demand top dollar for his services, and more than likely will get it. There are club still with an abundance of money to spend aka Manly signing Taupau, how .. ?? I know I ask the same question.

Surely the Balf eagles must have given us a motza of cash to allow the the club to release him .. ?? And if Robbie goes yes albeit more than likely we are going to have to pay him out for the next couple of years. Maybe that's why the club released Taupau, so that the money the Bald eagles gave with help off set what we have to pay Robbie out with .. ?? ok now I see the picture .. !!

Still incredibly disappointed with Marty leaving we gave him a chance a starting position and he then leaves us (shakes head)

However that's the professional world of Rugby League these days and we all must move on. Onwards and upwards I say, after all I still bleed black n' gold .. !!!

Let's go Tigers … !!! :sign:

May well be a sign Chris wont be around in 2017.

If this were true then there would have been clubs fighting for him months ago. So if clubs do have money like you say, why have they sat back? Manly had Foran's money don't forget, plus money they had left over from the other half a dozen players they let go. Whichever team picks up Farah's bill would have to pay in excess of 500k as is the rule apparently signing rep players. You have to pay a significant amount of the bill yourself, which is a good rule if true because otherwise you're paying a rep player second tier money. Either way, Farah staying in the NRL looks bleak if he's forced out. ESL looks his best bet atm.

He's already said that he'll stay and fight for his place.
The clubs said it will be picked on form. , surely they wouldn't lie ….....would they ????
The club is Gonna look even more stupid if the third level hooker in the club is picked for NSW ahead of a physically suspect , average player like Ballin.
It's just another little game by Taylor to get his way. Pity he doesn't put an equal effort into coaching as he does with his vendetta against Farah. The way he's going at the moment, he's likely to hang himself

Robbie Farah quit as Wests Tigers captain ahead of a damning report into the state of player welfare at the club that puts further pressure on coach Jason Taylor’s shaky position.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal an independent report commissioned by the NRL Players Association has found alarming evidence of the abuse of players’ rights and conditions. Explosive allegations in the soon-to-be-released document will reveal 85% of the players interviewed complained of unacceptable conditions at the club. Sydney barrister Julieanne Levick has been handling the investigation on behalf of the players union. “It doesn’t look too favourably for the club in terms of their treatment of the players from a welfare perspective,” Levick said. “There is some horrible stuff going on out there".

Lets pretend for a moment that this welfare stuff is all legitimate and the characters involved in the story are all honest and have no hidden agendas.

I have one question (and then some extras).
Why is all this falling on Taylors head and why is he footing the 100% blame for this stuff from some on this forum and in news reports?

Does Robbie Farah, as long standing club captain not have a role to play in this? Why has he completely escaped all blame? Am I expected to believe Robbie Farah has tried to do what he can for everyone in terms of welfare as the club captain? If the club was so bad why did Farah 'single handedly' (as the credit buffoons claim) keep James Tedesco at the club? If the club is so bad, why is he hanging on with every thread of his being to stay? If the club is so bad, why hasn't he broken this story himself maybe 6 months ago, 12 months ago or 2 or 3 years ago?

I'm not saying it's Farah's fault or Taylors fault or the boards fault because the truth is I have no idea what goes on in the background, if in fact anything is going on in terms of welfare.

IF (and thats a big IF) there is blame to be apportioned, lets apportion it correctly.

Or is it another case of EVERYTHING was fine until the day Taylor turned up just on 12 months ago?

Settle down, No need to get personally offensive. I wont go down to your level.

I'm pointing out that all the problems, perceived or real, are being left at the feet of the 12 month old coach and CEO's and others that have been here even shorter. Pretty much the one person who has been here the whole time seems to be escaping much of the drama and is being painted as the victim in everything.

The funny thing about this article is that it doesn't actually say anything! What abuse? 85% of what players interviewed…under 20's players, roosters players! And 85% of how many players interviewed, 5, 10, 100?

Why publish an article that doesn't actually provide any information other than portray the club in a negative light......I wonder why someone would want to do that...

and yet not only are players signing on, but players are re-signing…....................weird........

April this year Robbie stated in a SMH article that he had no regrets in helping to convince Teddy to stay either......sure a lot has happened since then, but clearly any "abuse of players rights and conditions" must have happened after.

Also weird that this comes up during the crapfest of "what to do with Robbie"..........and that this comes after speculation we've signed Matt Ballin.......

Tinfoil hats on standby?

\
Look, in previous years I've seen the Tigers play with no enthusiasm, like they just didn't want to be there. This year, I rarely saw that or felt that that was the case. If this article had come up say in 2008-2009 or 2012............then maybe.
