Apparently Farah's manager asked for an immediate release and his final two years paid out in FULL…...I think both Farah and his manager are dreaming if they think this is going to happen.

The Tigers need to get something for him......you cannot pay someone nearly a $1M a year to play at a rival club. He can then then stay at the Tigers and play NSW Cup.....no chance of him playing SOO from NSW Cup, especially if he is on the reserves bench of NSW Cup.

I don't mind Farah being shown some goodwill here but asking for payment in full and an immediate release....well thats just RUDE and if its an example of how Farah has dealt with the Tigers over the past few years.....I can understand why they asked him to find another club to go to.

Very disappointing.

It's an example of a good manager. His job is to look after his client against a club tha rpt has already shown that a contract means nothing to them.

Farah is asking for $2 million, the club should pay him $1 million end of story. If Robbie is ruining the joint then surely it makes sense as against keeping him for 2 more years and paying $2million dollars + Ballins wage.. $1 million is a good investment as against the alternative.. What would you do? "Na mate keep the $2 mil because I'm a good bloke"?

I am sure you know what a contract is - just in case.

It is an agreement between two parties - the first party saying they will pay X amount to the second party and the second party saying they will provide services to the first party for that payment - they agree to do this for so many years.

This was what happened between Farah and WT.

Farah is entitled to his full payment whether he plays NRL or Z grade over the next two years. If he plays for another team then they have to pay part of that agreed salary.

There is no I won't make you pay for the second year etc. Do you think he is an idiot?

I agree.. Of course Rob is entitled to the $2 mill, I think they will meet half way and Rob will go, it's the club Wests Tigers who are trying to weasel their way out of the commercials for this business decision. Naturally both parties are vying for maximum gains..

Hard to understand anyone sticking up for Taylor over Farah in all of this.
Taylor has done, and is unlikely to do, anything for this club.
He has had no real success as a coach in the past yet there are plenty who are prepared to give him a free rein to do as he pleases, regardless of the cost or the results - including his poorly executed and inept handling of getting rid of one of our true champions (and life member).
As for me , ever since I was a kid I have supported the team and its players - be they champion teams or those running near the bottom, or champion players or those who don't quite make it.
Can't ever remember following the team because of the coach or cheering for one as he ran on the field.

Not sure I agree ck, I have tried to keep a very opened mind on this and I always come back to the fact that there must be someone really negative with him behind the scenes for WT to let him walk and give up so many $$$ to let him go. Then take a step back and look how it has played out…Houston at the knights, Ballin at the Sea Eagles, Lawrence...they have all been in a similar position and have handled it differently. In Lawrence's case he has been successful in renegotiating his contract and staying.

And this is where I see the problem as being. Robbie would much rather play this out in the press. He has been around long enough to know how it works, how to play the media, and he is doing it well. I dont think the current timing is a coincidence either.

He is one player and he is not worth the figure he is being paid. He could have tried to renegotiate it over three years, tried to renegotiate one yer and then take a lucrative offer in the UK, but he didn't as he preferred to play it out in the media. Maybe that is a measure of the man?

Why should he renogotiate anything. He signed on and has fulfilled his obligations.
He owes this train wreck of a club nothing.
He will get what his contract, and possibly something that's not possible here, a Premiership
Good luck to him

Well that depends on whether this is about wanting his money or finishing his career at the Tigers. The club don't want him yet he wanted to stay…so he either negotiates his position, leaves or plays under a coach that doesn't want him. He gets his cash no matter where he is but I would have thought enjoying what you do and feeling wanted by your employer are significant factors.

Our squad of course is overflowing with the best talent in the NRL, so minibus has decided we can do with out the SOO hooker.

"Sooky" has asked for a release.

"Minibus" (At least a capital please) as you call him suggested he was to be the hooker for round 1.

"Sooky" decided to go for more CASH, $$$$$$$ signs in the eyes I am afraid.

Does that mean when he goes all of "Sookies" supporters will go home and have a cry as well before not renewing their memberships.

Get off your "High Horse" mate he is going - that is it.

We do not need you putting crap on Taylor with every post you make.

IT IS BORING!!!!!!!

Are you busy passing the cap around to the remainder of the rent a groupies to stump up the cash for Robbie's payout? 2 million to watch him play for another team sounds like a plan.

At least he'l have more than one good forward around him, and there's a rumour that the roosters are looking for another fullback soon too.

I guess the bickering over money starts now.

"ROBBIE Farah’s contract saga with Wests Tigers has taken another bizarre development with the battling club now deciding to deny the NSW Origin hooker a release.

Farah’s management emailed the Tigers on Friday night requesting an immediate release from the joint venture club

With six clubs lined-up to sign Farah, the Tigers have attempted to block Farah’s departure at the 11th hour after a last-minute backflip from the struggling club."

And the six clubs are ??

3 in the NSW Cup and 3 in the QLD cup.

U are dead set dreaming….

Some0ne will get him for 150k and we will foot the bill.

Haha, unlikely. The club are playing the game now and are not releasing him for what they don't believe is adequate remuneration from another club. They'd all but committed to having him on in 2016 so they'll hang on to him unless someone is prepared to pay a large part of the fare.

This is the worst move Farah could have made.

You've got to be kidding, Farah can't lose in this, no matter where he goes he will still be getting his money and his Soo spot, as well as a good chance of a premiership, if he goes to the Roosters

Actually, he won't be going anywhere unless they work out a reasonable separation figure.

He still doesn't loose

Robbie should get his full 2 million. If he goes, say, to the Roosters, most likely they will kick in around $300-400k a season and we'll be up for the rest. Given his current Origin status the NRL won't let the Chooks put him on their roster for peanuts

I just hope this ends in us picking up a genuine first grader as a result of Robbie leaving. It won't be a superstar but as long as it's someone who is a walk up start to our top 17 just to add a bit of strength.

Exactly what I have been hoping for out of all this. Brenton Lawrence would be ideal IMO.

Can you please name a few of these clubs that always honour their contracts unlike the Tigers? :unamused:

It's a business it works both ways. We have been a beneficiary on a few occasions where players have been released early to join Tigers e.g. Todd Payten, Scott Prince which certainly helped for the 2005 title

Yep…I guess in the end it's all about Farah...

Yep you're right, after all he's the person that the club is trying to shaft, and it's up to them to ( along with the club that's signs him) to make sure he gets the money that is owed to him,
I seem to remember you saying often that he will get his money,
Now that he may actually go, we may see how ethical they really are.

Would it be fair to say that since the problem child has asked for a release? That Brooks and Moses will activate there Contracts for 2017 and will tell the Club to disregard the extension to June that they asked for.

To many coincidences of late.

Farah's Career will kick on as for Taylor? Everything will be answered next year.

Its a sad day in my view. We have just pushed out a club legend and some of our fans are backing the judgement of a hapless board and Jason Faylor. I said from day one if you could release Farah and save his contract value then even as a fan he had to go. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

It looks like we will have cap money to spend in 2017 so we need to make the same hard decision next year with Taylor. We need a coach that can attract players. With Farah gone so go the excuses its sink or swim for Jason next year. If we are not competitive he is gone by round 6.

That is crap and you know it TYGA!

Round 6 my foot. You think we have gone through all this rubbish, had players get rid of Potter and then Farah trying to get rid of Taylor and then the club sacks the coach after round 6.

You are dreaming my friend - he is there for the best part of this season, at least.

Personally, I would hope for the whole year and unless the backside fell out of the team - he would be there for 2017 as well.
I would like him to stay for two reasons - **he is contracted until then and 2017** is what the club and coach have been working towards. **After having done the hard yards - I would at least like to see him reap some of the rewards.**

You could same the same about Farah, except continually espousing your blind trust in a second rate coach and board.

From the Roosters he will get at least 400k a season plus some very handy TPA's.

Yeh it's a hard one. His age and injury issue is a worry. Fully fit he is certainly a player we need. Do we take the risk? I guess it comes down to who else is a possibility. Hiku is younger, fitter and also strengthens a position we are weak in, but is he an option? McQueen is ok and signing him would allow Sue to soley focus on the front row. Is Mcqueen better than Siro or Chris Lawrence though? Maybe if the the Interchange drops to 6 McQueens value to a team may rise significantly. Jack De Belin may be an option that provides us with a good bench forward.

Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Minibus and co wanted him gone, it's time to pay out the contract of $2m. I am sure Mr Ayoub can negotiate a new contract with the clubs chasing him independent of the $2m the club owes him.

To be honest I'm absolutely stoked for Robbie that he has come to this decision.
Yeah the haters are going to say there was no Clubs wanting his services cause he would of been gone by now…..surprise surprise!!!!
Robbie loves this Club and I respect him for trying to stand up and fight for what he loves and believes in. Signing Ballin was maybe the final evidence he needed, that his lover has finally said we are not getting back together and she's moving on without him having no chance to reconcile.

Jason Taylor will have no excuses next year and his time will come, but him being all class I'm sure he will move on if he gets sacked next year forfeiting his salary for 2017.

Good luck Robbie, enjoy playing semi final footy next year. Thanks for the memories.

Absolutely agree FT - Robbie isnt going to lose anything in this. As a fan I selfishly wanted him to see out his contract, but the actions of Taylor, rightly or wrongly have made that impossible. St George or the Roosters wherever he ends up are going to get a quality player, and we will have to find a new scapegoat.
