Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Look, I understand the attachment the fans have to Farah. I cannot overlook his achievements for us either. He carried us from 06-09, he's bled for us and he has been the ultimate competitor. He helped us to 2005\. He'll have a place in our history, as does Marshall, Hodgson and the others that went before what we felt was their time.

That said, it does not give you the rails run on how the place runs. He's now considered a hindrance and the club has decided that we will be better off without him. Things have been awful for years, and if they feel moving him on is best, I support it. We've moved on coaches and players in the years preceding this and we're still getting what we've always got. Maybe Farah is the last piece of the puzzle.

We shall see next year. If things turn around next year I dare say many, if not all, of us will be saying "Robbie who?"

Yep a lot feel the same way, yet are labelled "haters" by some, when they are simply WT lovers. Players come and go every season, the club and it's current lineup are where loyalties lay.

Not everybody who agrees with the decision is a hater and can offer reasons to validate their opinion - but there's plenty on here who are getting stuck right into him, and getting some form of perverse pleasure, without knowing anything at all.
I am amazed by how many posters know, personally, how this or that player doesn't get on with him, how he got Potter sacked, how it's all his fault we're losing and his relationship with Taylor.
All this without ever being to a training session, in the locker room or the boardroom, or actually knowing anyone involved.
Amazing.

I have heard some strong information, from a very close source, However I won't give away the exact specifics, as it narrows it down too fine.

However what I can tell you:
-Farah has blaintly disregarding the coaches instructions in certain games.
-instructions were sent out in a game, and he relayed to the trainer '[automatically edited] off im not doing that'.
- he was then asked to leave the field by the coach, which he declined.
- one of those games was the penrith game, where Lovett got slaughtered in the centres. And was related to the defensive structure of the team. The coach did attempt to fix the problem, however the captain didn't comply.

I never once heard JT bring this up publicly, he has kept everything behind closed doors.

But as you can see if you have watched Paul Kent or even Fatty last night. They have heardsimilar things

It's not all about money, it's about the team, and if you have a player, who won't listen to you, and is undermining you, what would you do?

I guess this is going to depend on who is telling the story and where their allegiances at the club are.

What i have been told is not nearly as critical of Farah however like yours is from a reliable source and both versions are dancing around the same kind of circumstances.

The whole thing is fall out between Farah and coach.

Sounds like a board leak to push the blame on to Farah, certainly wouldn't have been leaked from Robbie or his manager. I thought we'd plugged the leaks from the board ,the ships got holes again
Can't believe a word from Taylor or the board,

to me the issue is not the letting go of farah but who we are going to replace him with.at this stage we have only about 20 contracted players for next year and about 12 unsigned.so if we have no money in our cap who is going to be cherringtons back- up if he gets injured.in the unsigned list only big ava is worth keeping, the rest I wouldn't keep so how on earth can we have a squad competitive with the other teams.we are on a hiding to nothing.

In all seriousness, I am genuinely curious . Put aside the what's going on with the young players for a moment.
If he was captain coach, would it ease the salary cap issue ?

not at all.
As a player, he is still registered and therefore his wage is a part of the cap and it has to be market / contract value.

if he were to be coach too, the club could potentially save money on his coaching wage but the coaches wage has zero impact or association to the salary cap.

But it would mean that all we'd be paying no more out than we are, and we would be rid of our Faux coach

Thanks for clearing that up.
It's a damn shame that all this has been aired in public.
It look like it's doing a lot of **damage to wests-tigers reputation**.
Which may take quite some time to recover from. :unamused:

We don't have a reputation , well not a good one anyway
:crazy

Conversely, I am amazed by how many who believe that his being moved on is completely unwarranted. I take no pleasure in watching him go. It hurts him, the club and us as fans.

All I have said is that the decision would have been carefully considered due to the catastrophic fallout it would cause. I believe the board are making a gutsy decision. The decision would not have been made without a catalyst either.

Maybe…just maybe, Ayoub leaked it to the media before the club was ready.
Whichever way it was handled, people would find fault...there is no "right" way to do it, sometimes you gotta be cruel to be kind

That said I think the timing is very poor .
Or maybe enough was enough and its obviously reached boiling point .

Pretty much… Someone in power has backed this decision.

That same someone has probably been around the club a long time.

Was it the Godfather?

mate, this is taylors doing.
im quite sure everyone involved will admit that.
taylor himself has come out and said robbie does not fit in with the plans.

if it were a case of warning etc - im quite confident most work place guidelines re warnings and or terminations would also come into play.
the letter sent out by the CEO this afternoon confirming he has not been sacked and that his wage will be paid in full is also confirmation that there are no formal behavioral issues.
this is merely a case of - "with him gone, the young guys will have to listen to me"

There is no way in hell everyone around Taylor would let him make that decision alone. Especially if people thought it was a bad one. Taylor might have started the discussion, but he wouldn't have been the sole decision maker.

They aren't going to terminate a contract on behavior either, that would create a far worse mess than there is currently.

Taylor isn't alone in this, I would put money on it. He would have needed almost complete backing from the key staff and for that to happen, there must be a very good reason.

I hope that the younger guys are mature enough to see it, that's what worries me. It's hard to put your mates aside and look at it from a big picture, especially in an emotionally charged business like this.[/quote

Taylor is as desperate as Hell to deflect attention from his miserable year with the team, so the best scapegoat is Farah , using the excuse of Money, disputes with the coach, bad influence on team etc Farah may be a lot of things, but he's not stupid, after all the mainly
Unproven whinges about Farah last year, he would have been more than careful to not
Give Taylor excuses this year. So far it's worked for Taylor, but if Farah stays then Taylor may not last the year

HT ?!

Haters u are!!!
Should be ashamed of yourselfs, disgusting.
U pick potter the half wit over farah!
The guy won us a premiership! What did potter really do for the weststigers to deserve this unbridled loyalty???????
I think generally its whats wrong with the club, yes its people like you!!!! Haters
Another word I have for u farah haters, pathetic
Again, apparently farah and brooks, Moses went to the coach a few weeks ago because they wanted to play more expansive play, should have taken farah out the back and shot him then.
I find it funny how five weeks ago, every supporter on here was bagging Taylor for the excellent play strategy of taking the ball one out for 5 tackles, then a midfield bomb.
And then u turn on farah and co for speaking up… What would you do haters...

Again if potter is so good, why hasn't anyone snapped him up?? Where is he now, can't even get a gig coaching group 6

you guys do know that the board you are talking about have only been in place for a short period of time.
you do know that those on the board have very very limited understand of football.
you do know they have put all their trust in what the coach says dont you ?

The people that make up a board are usually from the business sector.
they are not ex footballers and they do not and are not responsible for the day to day running of the team.

thats the coachs job.

Not just the board who would have made the decision, both the Assistant coaches and the Football manager. Who all do have a very good understanding of football. Including Kidwell who has been there for a while now. All these guys would have been consulted and I'm sure there must have been almost a unanimous decision.

Do you really think that the assistant coaches are going to buck the head coach , the person who says who keeps or loses their jobs as far as coaching goes, Pleeeaaassse.
Sorry posted on the wrong line, apologies

The wests guys on the board too would have provided a good sounding board for the decision from a football perspective.

I know you are painting taylor as the problem here, but there is no way he acted alone.

Taken the pressure of the spoon posts that's for sure….wait

Oh and the last and only game for 5 tackles and a BOMB was the Cows game but yeah whatever...

Actually it's Phil Moss Director of Football Operations and Acting CEO to liaise with the Board on football related maters…the same guy who was at the Pamfers when Lewis Jennings and Gorden were moved on by them...but carry on...

thats correct.
However, Phil is briefed by Taylor.
his communication forward is based on his communication with the coach.

Two way street Moss was briefed with fixing the salary cap on his appointment…

I repeat,
if Farah stays , how is this affecting the Cap in the slightest. Even if he goes , because of the great timing by our astute board, we still will be up for the majority of his contract.
They can't con us with that one. It doesn't make the slightest sense.

Well depending on whom you believe, according to the club you can blame Robbies agent for the timing.
Maybe because there is no other NRL club interested atm, Ayoub felt the need to call try and pressure the club….but Oh that right Ayoubs on Robbies side, of course

Only thing I do believe is that, if wests tigers don't get their on field performances correct in next two weeks, and win at least one game, then t**he dreaded wooden spoon will be heading wests-tigers way.**

Wouldn't surprise me it the whole team lifts for Robbie and wins the last two, then watch the scarecrow rush to take the credit. Hope they really go for it.
