Agree with Gunners. Take out the emotion. He's on the wrong side of thirty, we're not getting value for money and he's looking to be more focused on Origin.

He's served the club well. Carried us on a rooted back from 06-09, but he's not looking interested and the club is suffering also. Let him finish up with a sweetheart deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to England and buys a season ticket to Anfield.

You can't take the emotion out of decisions like this. Sports teams are run on emotion - they rely on the emotion that fans put in, on people becoming completely emotionally immersed into a club. That's essentially how they make their money. This is indicative of a puerile culture that has come into the club since the new board took over - you don't treat your club legends like this: END OF STORY.

Rubbish.
It's business and happens all the time as has pointed out already

You're seriously telling me sporting clubs aren't run on emotion? The fact it happens all the time doesn't make it right, in fact its indicative of how poor sports clubs are run.

I loved Robbie. Stuck solid for years but now its as simple.as

1 mil for.the next 2 seasons.

Good luck to him at a club that can afford that salary

This is an awful decision by the club.
My opinion is that this is going to have a negative butterfly effect on the team.
Besides that, shameful way to treat a club legend.

Good luck Robbie, you and Benji will always be the Wests Tigers.

What can the WT's possibly think that this call will actually do at this stage ??

No club in the NRL could afford his full salary now

He will want to stay to continue playing NRL because of SOO

The only possible way this could have worked was making this call June /July

We will end up paying half his contract at another club until 2017

And Cherrington isn't ready yet defensively

i've seen a lot of penrith examples- may i just say that there biggest accomplishment so far after 5 years is one spot in the finals? they're at the bottom like us.

honesty, im gonna sit on the fence on this one. idk what's right. i understand the emotional situation in this. imagine how many no.9 jumpers we have sold over the years. how many lebanese kids (sorry for the stereotype) have followed the tigers coz of robbie. leichardt wanderers juniors and parents who've idolised robbie. hoenstly speaking, robbie has been the WESTS TIGERS for a number of years.

i can obviously see the other side as well- it relieves so much cap pressure, allows us to go into the marker again, puts more responsibility on the young spine- possibly gets us a year closer to success.

however, those who say there will be no emotional ramifications are kidding themselves. it's not "rubbish"- it's a fact. the reason you still go to games, the reason you come over here to discuss this crap is coz you're emotional about it. you're emotional about WT, many are emotional about robbie. you don't just lose fans, sponsors and players' loyalty, you also lose whatever identity WT have built over the last 10 years.. it's back to '02/'03.

very ignorant of you to say that it's just a business. every business is run a lot on emotion. coles runs because customers like seeing the same staff, they like seeing the same things at the same spot, they like the same old routine every time they go.

Rubbish news
Telling me he's the blues vc and one of the first picked for his state
Yet not good enough for the tigers

The guy who convinced our best young talent in Tedesco to stay for less money speaks volumes in itself

He's spent the past season plagued by injury

Remember Form is temporary.

Farahs bad games are usually a result of trying too hard….hah what a flaw

The worst part of all this sends a very poor message to our young talent basically saying ...
"Give your all for the club and we will chew you up and spit you out when we are done"

The good clubs...they don't treat club legends like this...they signed him to that contract now honour it

Today is an embarrassing day for the club!

where do the dollars and cents come from?

Why are people freaking out? He doesnt have to leave. He can stay right where is and continue on. Sure, people are going to say, "why stay somewhere you're not wanted?" On the surface, they've opened the door for him to leave because of cap pressure. It's not like he's done something wrong or his contract wont be renewed. The club is just looking at it's options to relieve the cap pressure. They are obligated to fulfill their end of the agreement bounded by their mutual contract.

This is a perfect example of why the salary cap needs to exclude players from the cap who have come through their junior ranks and allow them to be one club players. Irrespective that it's Robbie Farah, I think that the NRL should try and save the "One Club Player" breed because the way they're going, that breed will be non existent for our kids and their kids to see.

agreed. it's pathetic.

im quite sure pokies are designed to take $, not give it back.

10,000 $65 memberships do make a slight difference.

anyway, why did ch9 pay a billion$ for tv rights? im sure gyngell doesn't love roosters that much.

So its a business decision. A good business decision is all about timing. We are currently running last, and have not replaced Mayer, so effectively we are rudderless. We have one home game left this Sunday and one of our greatest players, if not the best in our clubs history has been shown the door. Great send off. Why - to free up money to presumably attract players to our club. The media will have a field day with this and will rip us to shreds and all the weaknesses of our organisation will be made public once again - whether they are true or not. Our current players will be questioning the treatment of Robbie and will no doubt be looking at their allegiance to the club. If we put in a good performance this week it will be a miracle. Any current players that are of interest to other clubs will no doubt be approached to see if they are feeling disgruntled and are also looking to get out. Business decision it maybe, if it is a good decision remains to be seen.

It's very poor timing , I agree …

Whether you agree with the decision or not the poorest aspect is the fact they have made it public.
Surely they could have kept it under wraps and let him look for another opportunity before splattering it all over the media.
We remain the most poorly run club in the competition (even Parra make money)
Please buy us Harry.
