Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

JT spoke as well, basically just paraphrased last night's press release. No further explanation. Pretty pathetic to be honest, and I'm one that supports the decision.

That is utterly disgraceful. This club is an absolute joke. So much for showing Farah "utmost respect."

Not pathetic at all. The club said it would treat Farah with respect and no further comment would be made till his future was decided. Taylor made no further comment as he should. He is employed by the club. We all have bosses.

If he's not going to answer questions about Farah, he shouldn't be fronting the media at all. So in that sense, I'm not blaming him - he shouldn't have been put in that position.
That was an absolute joke and a PR disaster.

On the other hand, Farah spoke terrifically. A lot of class.

Wow, the JT presser was an absolute trainwreck. Completely farcical.

Imagine it'll be up on the foxsports website (and elsewhere) soon.

Have you seen a presser by JT yet that wasn't farcical? I haven't.

Fair enough. I'm looking forward to the transcript.

The reserve grade talk is BS. As if they'd have a player on that salary playing lower grades. The club is just calling his bluff on that one.

WOW. Robbie Farah has just confirmed he was told he would play reserve grade next year if he stays @WestsTigers

If he's not performing he gets dropped. Fair enough. Hopefully that goes for the rest now. He;s not really performed all year so this is it. Dropped for next season bring the new guy in. Perfect decision - for once.

Yeah sure. As if the club would pay someone his wage to play reserve grade. I thought he was a poker player. Must not be much of a player if he's taken this bluff.

Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah has been told he will play reserve grade if he stays at the club.

Farah, a life member of the Tigers who was part of their 2005 premiership win expressed his disappointment at a media call on Wednesday morning after being told by the club he can leave at the end of this season.

"I've been told if I stay I will be playing reserve grade," Farah said. "Yeah it's hard to hear, it's not nice. Whether they mean it or not, I'm not too sure.

"Whether it's to just get me to go [I'm not sure] but if I stay I guess we'll find out."

"I've been here for the biggest part of my life it's tough to deal with. I have to move forward. I kind of had an inkling for a few weeks.

"I love this club I've given blood, sweat and tears for this club."

South Sydney have emerged as the frontrunners for Farah's signature although he said it was too early to speculate where he'd end up.

Former teammate Bryce Gibbs, who was forced out of the club at the end of 2011 before finishing his career at Cronulla, tweeted a message for Farah.

This is precisely what people have said,if they dont perform then they should get dropped…..Robbie is no exception....

We will have a million dollar reggie....great foresight by previous management... :crazy

WOW
50% surprised and 50% expecting it to be honest.
im sorry to say this to Tigers fans but this was always going to happen.
no one here has seemingly mentioned the COACH in all of this.
Before the season even started the COACH asked the captain to forgo his Australian jersey !
what a way to start your tenor.
The COACH then removed all other club legends. Some of these guys have served the club tremendously over their time playing and then in support roles.
Some of those guys have kids playing in the NRL, some even in this team !!!
wow again…. what was the coach thinking to P off club legends, their kids, their kids mates - who also play in the team, the captain and nearly everyone else who has been part of the inner sanctum at the tigers for decades.
you have young footballers with massive potential being lead and instructed by someone who has very little respect from any one at the club.
his game plans certainly arnt working.
When the season went to rabble he "allowed them to free up" and surprise surprise - they looked great again.
Say what you may about Robbie, but lets be honest here, the coach delivers his verdict to the board before any decisions are even contemplated.
No one will openly admit it or discuss it but their is a very serious issue at the club and these are all coming from or around the COACH.
The young guns dont believe anything the coach says or his direction. THAT IS FACT.
The people they look up to dont have any "good" things to say about the coach either.
That speaks volumes.
To then make a decision like this - use the salary cap as the excuse but knowing, the club will still pay a very large portion of his contract or if robbie takes the legal avenue like time sheens did - will force the clubs hand.
What a absolute mess.
Robbie may not be playing that well at the moment, agreed. But again, if the chatter is close to the mark - hes seen the writing on the wall as much as hes witnessed the fascicle game plans and instructions to the young guns by the coach for some time now.
I actually thought id be reading another David Fa'alogo type story before the season wound up - to be honest.

Wow am I really seeing calls now that Lawrence needs to stay and Farah should go? How times change. I wonder who we will want to praise / throw under the bus next season.

Did you say the same thing about the previous administration of the club that has led to this situation?

This club has been brought to the brink of a complete wipeout by the previous mob and a lot of people are blaming Go and company!

Crazy.

ps. Good decision to get rid of Farah.

Yep. It's madness, but I applaud this decision. Must be one of the toughest decisions to make but it's been made. If it's Taylors decision, then good on him. Enough of mediocrity already!

I would like to make a couple of points.

Obviously Robbie has been stymied by the last two coaches, under Sheens he attacked like a champ, since the last two blokes he has gotten subbed and is obviously being shackled, hence his stats have gone down.

I understand he is being paid a motza….but gee its ordinary to brush yer capt cos ur paying him too much.......its a sad sad day when a one club man and legend of the club gets the boot cos they mucked up the contract!

And finally.....a real shame we dont have a game at Leichhardt for him....I wold love to see him play there one last time and show my appreciation for all his amazing efforts over the years. We know he loves the place. And he even mentioned it in his interview....if this had been done a little earlier we could have sent him out like the champ he is.

I understand the rationale behind this....but I am very sad for Robbie.

Welcome bobo. "Facts" Do you have any quotes? What are your sources? It only speaks volumes if it is true. Otherwise it is just more misinformation and rumour.

Man I really feel sorry for Robbie after that press conference. He doesn't deserve to be threatened with reserve grade if he chooses to stay. That's very disappointing to hear
