Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Personally I think JT's timing was perfect. He finally got a good game out of Farah this year and managed to avoid the spoon at the same time. One more game and then the media hype will die down and the Tigers can focus on next year.

I'm amazed at how passionate people are about this. Robbie has been great for the club but obviously his time is done whether it's his fault or not. By this time next year, we won't be talking about Robbie and he'll be doing OK wherever he is. Anyone here ever lost their job at a company they were loyal to? He'll be paid what he is owed by the club (which is the point of the contract by the way) so loyalty doesn't really need to come in to it.

I'm hoping that the changes might bring UA back in to the winners circle. If we're not willing to go with changes, then we shouldn't expect anything different from the team.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

I can assure all that a hug part of the supporter base actually supports the club on this issue

i stand corrected. 40% of voters on the SMH poll said club did the right thing by getting rid of robbie.

, It will be Farah or the coach and I believe if there is a compromise Taylor will walk That will make you all happy Farah Rids 2 coaches in 2 yrs then it can really hit the fan!

you haven't read my other posts to be throwing out that i'll be happy if taylor walks

The die has been cast. Having Farah on next year will result in a power struggle between the two and everyone will suffer as a result. He won't relinquish the captaincy without a fight.

The club has shown it's hand, they have to play it out now. It didn't come to the media the way they wanted it to, but that is beside the point. Farah's camp leaked it to maximise support and it's worked a treat. If they don't follow this through, they will look impotent and inept.

Taylor and whoever made the decision regarding Farah will lose enormous professional faith if a compromise is made. A coach is there to make decisions and the club has to stand by him. A compromise will only make the animosity between the coach and captain. When the same animosity occurred between Farah and Potter it was Potter who walked away when the club management did not support him. If Taylor walks away who would want to step into the cauldron that obviously would still exist if Farah does not get 100% his way?

I thought I read in one of the many articles written over the past week that's what he said he may do. Hand over the captaincy next year, play in 2016 and seek an opportunity to play SL from 2017.

But who knows how this will pan out.

I reckon this ^ is going to be how it will pan out.
It's a happy medium.

I have major concerns that JT is a good coach. Think he doesn't have the game plan or man management skills to win regularly at NRL level. If Robbie goes next year, It will be a massive call made by JT and the board.

I really hope JT proves me wrong but I doubt he will. If by mid season next year we are in the bottom two, the media will be all over the board for letting Robbie go. The board will say it was JTs decision, it didn't work and your fired. I really doubt by the end of next year that JT will be lining up for a third year as coach unless the club wants average attendances of 2,000 per week and no members.

Again I would love for JT to prove me wrong but my 30 years plus of watching the game you tend to know a good coach from a dud and JT is a dud coach.

I find it hilarious that recent reports claim JT wants to sack Robbie because of the way he deals with losses. He hates losing and is filthy after a loss.

Apparently that isn't acceptable at a club such as the Wests Tigers.

JT probably wants to replace him with someone who can fit in with the new, current philosophy of the club - Wins don't matter as long as we continue to learn. Losses are more then acceptable and players shouldn't be upset and angry at continually losing football matches.

What a joke..

Well that rules out ever getting Bellamy, Hasler, Toovey, and Maguire as coaches.

There's your problem.

I still think the best thing to do for all parties concerned is keep Robbie next year and as suggested previously maybe not as captain, come to an agreement that he moves on at the end of next season. Gives him time to say his farewells and have one last crack at origin. Its a compromise that sees WT gain and Robbie potentially gain. Lets face it he has little chance of finding a new club thats going to be able to accomodate him even at 3ook. Our cap is already stuffed next year beyond repair and moving Robbie on at a saving of 150-200 k is not going to offer a great deal of relief.
It will save some face for Robbie, the fans and WT

What does winning the PR battle even mean?

We have one more game, the papers will drop this story quickly enough when the finals are on and Tigers are in post-season.

We might not have a resolution by the end of the year, but the story will run out of puff soon enough.

the ramifications are massive.

the fans think robbie is hard done by from the media, the ex tigers players, robbie's well connected sources- everyone's taken robbie's side.

the club doesn't need negative publicity like this. what it does is puts even more pressure (as if this isn't enought) on our already young and inexperienced spine. we lose a high number of supporters which we cant afford and lose corporate sponsorship. short term pain for long term gain? POSSIBLY.

i agree with OP- i think a bit of compromise from both parties will go a long way to helping both.

I can assure all that a hug part of the supporter base actually supports the club on this issue ..and the well connected sources please this is why no other club wants anything to do with him and it is not the money! There will be no compromise the line has been drawn and that is the way it should be , It will be Farah or the coach and I believe if there is a compromise Taylor will walk That will make you all happy Farah Rids 2 coaches in 2 yrs then it can really hit the fan!

I wasn't at the game on Sunday , but friends that still live in Sydney were, and from what they say , and from what I saw on TV. There was no doubt on who the supporters there were massively behind, the general public in the press polls were running at 0ver 2 to 1 for Farahand the players were right behind him during the game and after wards. Including the ones that spoke out in the later part of the week.
The young guys seemed like they were glad to have him there and both Moses and brooks made a point of walking back from one of the tries both with an arm on his shoulders.
Not the looks of kids who didn't get on well with him( as floated in the press.)

Numbers here seem pretty evenly split, but as said before, we are only a small cross section of supporters . None of this means anything , as the board will not take our ideas into consideration, they will make whatever decisions that they want to, for their reasons
The compromise that has been mentioned before was (as far as I could see from printed articles on Saturday) agreed to by the club. But was refused by Taylor. I don't know definitely that that was correct, but none of us do , or don't
I think it would be ideal and would end a lot of the bickering here and elsewhere
All this will mean nothing in the the long run as its only a few people can change anything.

But if we aren't going to save any money . Then we have to get the use of him in games, if not the NSW cup games are going to be a lot more interesting

This may well happen, FWIW the ABC radio news just reported along the lines of the following "Wests Tigers management hope that Robbie and Taylor can find some common ground…"

I wasn't quick enough to make a note of the exact report, but that's the gist of it, as though they are trying to work out their differences.

There's your problem.

mate from everything you've written to your comments under what other people express, then claiming people like myself are trolls…...
it actually seems like you are the Troll here on this forum.

You have zero knowledge of how a football business is run, the same can be said about your understandings of basic employment laws in this country and yet you seem to send out these comments implying that everyone else who has a differing opinion from yours is an idiot.

we may be fans. we may share differing opinions, but mate, some of us here on this forum are educated. We understand whats legal illegal within the context of this discussion and we certainly understand what is media fluff and what is "our own opinion on what we have seen thus far"
