Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

There are several posters on this forum that agree Farah should go, and for good reason.
I'm clearly one.
I've just been reading random media BS about "fans rally behind Farah" etc etc. There is no mention that the "rally" consisted of 30 people with mysteriously supplied professionally made banners, as well as cut and tape efforts straight from the local primary school.
We need to support West Tigers Management with a fgff Farah rally. Preferably while he's still swanning it in Bali. Give his manager something to think about. I **could get a rally of 1 going here** but seriously doubt it would make the media. Any takers in the big smoke?

Suggest you have it on a Tuesday morning - you might get 5 people turn up

Question-

If releasing Galloway/Blair etc from their contract reduces the cap impact-

If the Tigers fully pay out Robbie Farah's remaining 2 years, would that remove his contract value from the cap?

I understand that if another team picks him up that the Tigers pay the difference between the contract values, but if the Tigers fully pay out Farah's contract- doesn't that make his contract null & void?

Wouldn't that clear the value of his contract off the salary cap?

Not sure on that one….but I read somewhere that Liam Fulton was still under our cap this year even after retiring from the game. Not sure if that is gospil

Surely that can't be true- a player retires & they count against the cap??

I can't see how they could hold the value of a fully paid out contract against the club, if releasing a player to another club lowers your salary cap hit (not sure if that made sense).

You would have to think that a contract, if fully paid out to it's value, has fulfilled it's obligation by the club & should therefore not count against the cap.

It comes out of the cap, regardless when and how we make the payment.

Robbie Farah has left Australia for a break and this thread deteriorates. Maybe the thread needs a hiatus until at least he returns to Oz.

More like a hiatus hernia! Time to put this thread out of its misery and shut it down.

If he doesn't find another club, which chances are he won't, this will last the full off season. There won't ever be a dull moment.

Will probably run longer than Days of Our Lives

Lol Flip… That soapie, has been going on...on...on and on. Forever it seems 😱pen_mouth:
**Hope you don't watch that rubbish Flip. Or do you...**

Perish the thought!

From a contractual perspective, Robbie would be a free agent except for any termination clauses.

But the Salary Cap is a separate tool used by the NRL, and as this is technically a Player Payment, it should be included in the Salary Cap. The only way I can interpret a payment of this type not being included in our cap is if Farah retired.

Up here, I could have it any day of the week and the best I could count on is a crowd of one. I'd have a really nice banner though.

On Fulton we applied for Cap relief when he retired mid season and it wasn't granted…He was not in the Cap for 2015..there was an article I'll try and dig it up....as he retired 2014...same as Justin Hodges is retirering with a year to run on his contract with the Broncos wont be in their Cap next season........

Paying out Farah would make him a free agent and clear the Cap space...

Thanks Geo…was not sure..thanks for clarifying it

If that is the case (and it might be- I'm just asking), does releasing players like Blair, Galloway etc over the years not reduce the cap hit for that year?

When Liam Fulton went to the UK, didn't that reduce the salary cap hit? Wouldn't that work the same for other players, including releasing Farah?

I was reading the article that Ayoub was threatening to "air some dirty laundry",I came away thinking…ok he wants to embarrass the club and some of the people within the club, not only will this probably open a can of worms regarding Admin or board etc etc...but my final thoughts were, will this clear up the damage already done ? Will it change the decision already made ? Will it change how people view Robbie re the dramas involving previous coaches etc etc....

My final thought was, Ayoub is not really a respectable person to start with and this will make his reputation stained even further from the publics perspective ...so why not try and move on,get RF to another club and forget about being a spiteful piece of crap,in the end Ayoub is making RF look bad and if it boils down Ayoub knew a fair while ago about Robbie moving on and didn't tell him...his own fault this has blown up in his face......

An old quote....."Live by the Sword,Die by the Sword"....and as far as Ayoub goes, couldn't happen to a worse bloke.... :imp:

Yeah TT but to be fair that article has overblown what Ayoub actually said. The transcript has been sensationalised greatly. Listen to the actual interview and it is not nearly as bad as the article.

I see releasing is somewhat different to your scenario. When we release a player, we technically dont pay them anymore [except the surplus value owning on the contract from the new club, and any back loaded percentages].

In your scenario, we are effectively paying Farah 3 years of his salary which should count towards the cap.

In the same way that comments towards Farah regarding playing reserve grade have been sensationalised?

Possibly, in fact that was my initial thought when those particular revelations were made. Time will tell.

Robbie Farah's emotional interview

Fri 18th September, 10:00AM

An emotional Robbie Farah says winning the 2015 True Blue Award is up there with one of the proudest achievements in his career.

The incumbent NSW VB Blues hooker was presented with the True Blue Award for displaying qualities upon which the team culture is built.

Despite missing the third and deciding game with a broken hand, the hooker played a key role during the course of the campaign.

Farah, whose career remains in limbo following the announcement that he was no longer required at the Wests Tigers, thanked a number of family members, friends and colleagues in an exclusive, heartwarming interview with NSWRL TV.

Laurie Daley to WT….Royce assistant...

This puts massive pressure on the board and Taylor. It shows how much deserved support Robbie has within the Rugby League community in general.

To sum it up, Robbie is an award winning State of Origin player, but he isn't suitable to play for the team that ran second last! Ridiculous.

Makes bugger all sense to me too, the coach is making a huge mistake on this, and one that might end his career as well as put the club under enormous undue and uneeded pressure.

Robbie loves his State of Origin coach a lot…is what I got out of it

A few weeks back went all this started didn't Daley just about say that Farah was a shoe-in for the next Origin series which is 8 months away?

All I heard was - me, me, me, me… And me...
About 8000 times.

Haven't heard him talking about his team mates and the coaching staff at wt's like that - well... Ever!!

Maybe if he showed that much that much passion for our jumper and respect to the Tigers staff he would still have his spot...
