Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

"Laurie Daley has already declared he’s not afraid to pick Farah in the NSW Origin side should he spend the year playing reserve grade but the pressure is on for Farah to perform." - Are not coaches supposed to pick players based on their current form. I am not sure that every other NSW qualified hooker would have been enthused with Daley after this silly statement.

He never said that he'd pick him no matter what his form was, he was simply saying that being in the reserves would not stop him from picking him.
Dalys aware that form may have nothing to do with him being in reserve grade( if it happens)
Anyway it's been done before.

Byron bay fan…..seems your survey of Wests Tigers fans across the northern rivers has been less than rigorous. I can't wait to see the back of robbie..,.he has got our last two coaches sacked which has contributed to our slide down the table. He is yesterday's man and a very poor leader imo.

My point exactly….

All I hear in his defence is "He is a Club Legend"
- I never hear... He is one of the best hookers in the game!!

Because he is the Origin hooker, People assume he is 2nd best behind Smith.
They must forget the other QLD hookers: Ballin, McCollough, Friend... Even that Granville the Cows pulled from Q Cup this year is a better rake than Robbie...

Say I have something against him all you like, It's simply not true....
What is true, Is his stats for a 9 for the last few years are amongst the lowest in the comp.
And he's the NSW "vice captain".

People need to stop sniffing fairy dust, Forget his name and what tattoo he has on his bicep and actually watch him play - Base assessments on this alone.
Then tell me how much you love him....

All a matter of opinion Batboy. Rated number 11 in the top 50 players in the NRL for the last two years
http://www.nrl.com/nrlcoms-top-50-for-2015-the-full-list/…/default.aspx

That poll must be done on money earnt…
He was lucky to be in our top 11 last year - and we come equal last!!

HI Larry, there are three sides to this story. The usual two, was Robbie forced to play Taylorball that ruined his attacking flair up the middle? If so but he still tackled his heart out then he is innocent. The second side is he has gone stale, sore and sorry with injuries and rep football that the Tigers had little chance.

I leaned towards Farah when I read page 77(?) of this thread (now up to 103) how Potter had came out in support of Farah - this from the guy whom Farah had supposedly stabbed in the back.

The third side is the proverbial ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM , and I am only guessing, is Robbis disliked by some because he is of Lebo descent?

Hindmarsh at Parra was a hero for matching Robbie in tackle counts - but that does not seem to count here amongst some so it gives me suspicions.

Why do people keep comparing Farah to Hindmarsh the tackling machine….
Hindmarsh wasn't the Ball distributor (or captain for most of his career)
They play in totally different positions.... Hooker and second row aren't even remotely similar.

Well we know in SOO last year that they deliberately ran at Robbie knowing that if he got injured that NSW had no back up, so presumably he had to make those tackles. Why does he make so many in grade games? Is it others somehow letting them through? Are they deliberately running at Robbie? Is Robbie robbing the spotlight?

Well forumers I have been absent for awhile due to some personal issues..however I have had the opportunity to read this particular topic within the last week..It does seem to go on and on,having said that,in my own opinion and purely from my view I think that the last couple of years Robbie has been all for Robbie,SOO Robbie,WTs Legend Robbie,Captain Robbie..Has anyone really considered other than speculation, that coach Taylor has been given the job of coaching some very green, young talented NRL prospects and that in it self is a rigorous proposition…people have said that Taylorball is a joke, has anyone tried to coach a group of kids to excell at NRL level and how hard it is to get them to adapt to the grind at that level, probably not,my view on Taylorball was to teach the younger ones how structures, gameplans and most of all defense works at that high level compared to NYC or park footy..I don't know if Robbie did intervene and decided not to follow JTs plans, but if he did he would not be a good captain as he should encourage the coaches plans..As Wayne Bennett once said.." We have a simple gameplan and structures, the players follow those instructions to the letter and it's simple,we don't deviate from those plans, that's why the Broncos were successful"..Now obviously I will have a fair share of critics, however what WB said was pretty spot on and he is the COACH..I don't know where this particular saga will end,but what has to be considered even if you don't like him..JT is the paid coach in charge of a youthful, talented squad, his decisions are what the players and management have to take into consideration if WT are to be competitive and successful in the coming seasons..

We also know in the last state of Origin Robbie poofed a Match Winning play at the death in game one… Possibly lost us the series.
I'd be very surprised if he is picked again next year on that alone....

I can't remember so I cannot dispute and if does get dropped from SOO it may be better for WT. But that did not answer the WT problem, why is he making so many tackles?

It seems you want the Blues to win the SOO series and so of course we choose the players whom we consider best, if it happens to be WT players then some WR fans complain he is not playing for us??? He can't make everybody happy or they are playing silly buggers. I can recall other teams suffering a lot more than WT due to SOO commitments so we should not whinge too much unless we want SOO to become an irrelevant B grade outfit.

Because we almost won/shared the Spoon I don't respect Jason's coaching abilities. Robbie is only one player and at least he tackled his heart out so don't pick on him too much. I can understand the gripes because Farah is Capt and the Spoon was almost ours but he is only one person.

You missed my point
- It being: Well Paid, Big Name, Rep footy Playing club legends and leaders come up with the right plays when it's all on the line…
That's what they're capable of and that's why they stand where they do.

Apart from kicking a game winning field goal once every blue moon, Farah has never, ever been able to do this... Warriors final anyone? How bout the Dragons final? - All the time in the world to get 1 point - but no....

He simply isn't the player most of the fans think he is...
And for that reason alone, I'm not fussed if he stays or goes. His attitude certainly needs adjusting - Not that it will happen.
I'm happy for him to prove me wrong - He hasn't in the last 4+ seasons... Can't see how he will now.

batboy, I take your point. But I always thought the legend word was overused. I thought Wayne Pearce was way over rated plus Blocker and Sirro. They were just good consistent players always doing their job. What Farah has achieved re Big Name, rep and income is about on par with them. I can't recall them performing miracles either. I guess they all finished their playing life at the Club.

As we know they can be crippled tomorrow (or even die) and them being workers I don't begrudge them what they earn but not sending the Club broke. The financial posi of the Club could be because of Balmain-area gentrification - they don't flog the pokies like they used to and soccer inroads. Also due to some funny set up the teams that use the big stadiums get millions for doing so.

Management may have stuffed it up with excessively long and generous contracts but at least he doesn't have wobbly knees yet and still tackles his heart out so I still respect him. I can't follow the game intensively, I am genuinely interested why he makes so many tackles? Are others letting the team down and getting away with it?

He makes a lot of tackles because he's a hooker. Hookers defend in the middle.
Simple as that - you'll find most teams will have a hooker as their leading tackler.

….. I wonder what it would be like to play three quarters of a State of Origin game with one shoulder?

I notice Fletch and Hindy have rated Farah the 12th best hooker in the game.

Can't say I can argue against there analysis. Robbie has had one MOM performance in the last few years for the Tigers and that was only after he was told to look around.

Hahahaha, Defiant thanks for the laugh. It made my day. Fletch and Hindy…

Fletch and Hindy - seriously??

Now there's two serious football analysts .

The worst thing about the Farah/Taylor rift is the forummers who think the best way to support their man is to bag the other. It's tiresome. Neither Taylor nor Farah are half as bad as claimed in this thread.

He also kicked the club cat on at least two occasions !!!
And he owes the canteen for a pie after the last game. No wonder he's unpopular :rant

Now that we don't have Fultz, he's the only one who wants to get dirty and do the work in most games
