Robbie - Gone as an attacking threat?

What has happened to him as an attacking threat in the NRL?

Obviously he is no spring chicken anymore. However his game never really relied on pace. As well I'm watching guys like Ennis and Wallace look more menacing out of dummy half. Guys Like Granville, Friend look on a completely different level.

I don't doubt his passion, his toughness and his will to win. He tackles everything that moves and is a great competitor. However I hate to say it but out of dummy half he has become a plodder. Originally I thought it was just Taylor sturcutred game plan but now I'm not so sure.

From 2005 to 2012 he was an electric footballer out of dummy half. He was a Top 5 player in the competition in some of these years he was so dominant. He ran Thurston to 1 point in the Dally Ms twice. He was a guy who set up line breaks and tries for fun. He would set up 20 tries a year, now I'm watching guys like Ennis, who I thought had a fraction of his ability do it in 2016.

The ironic thing is spent those years killing it in the NRL watching Ennis, Buderus and co play Origin. Now Daley is so loyal to Farah despite the fact he look like a total plodder out of dummy half these days.

He just looks like a shadow of his former self to be honest.

For me I reckon it could be simple

Stop playing for penalties that you haven't got since Moses was a boy and just try and get in behind the defence

But the thing that makes me wonder is the lack of support players now

Is he going off his own back an no one knows or they just realize its a waste of time and energy

Hes going OK….but his best is behind him

Thing is he is habitual, there was a moment yesterday where he took a quick tap and still ran into a opposition player with his back turned, I mean,...wtf? Dumb play....when you want him to be making as many metres as possible he does that.
He catches guys offside at marker....and doesnt try to suck them in...he sucks himself in, runs into them but refs now are sick of it and have ''interpretations'' of the rules...he hasnt really grown with the game, hasnt evolved with it.

Maybe teams have worked out his pet plays. Maybe injuries have slowed him down.

I have been a huge fan over the years.

I just wonder why a guy like Ennis all of a sudden looks like a world beater and Farah looks a plodder. When for years and years Robbie looked to have 100 times more ability.

Tigers fans argued he was a better player then Cameron Smith over the 2005 - 2012 period and at times he played these unbelievable games.

Honesty Eddie , I wouldn't have a problem if we threw 800 k at Granville seriously , even throw all of Robbie's money at him

I know many are worried about the halves but I reckon hooker is the bigger issue in the future for us

I would like to see some stats on his production over the years.

Farah had some unbelievable years.

This year I can't remember him setting up a line break or a try in 5 games???

Hookers are regularly setting up line breaks and tries these days. Or making these kazikaze runs which get the momenttum going.

Its not like he is a fullback or a winger and his age means less pace and production.

I never thought he relied on pace, however he does look as slow as a wet week now.

At least him going off alone we are not losing the ball in silliness, not that we are winning games with it but I know which I prefer.

I thought he did a fine job on the weekend. Went from dummy half and took it straight up the middle. Hard to complain about 130 odd metres with the ball. Better yardage than Friend, C Smith, Ennis, Granville etc. by a long way.

On the other hand, he didn't ball play much, but that would be coach's orders.

Probably our best on weekend.

How much would we have lost by if he wasn't there.

I wanna know what Moses was doing standing next to him at dummy half numerous times in 2nd half.
Can't blame him for anything yesterday. Outplayed Smith let the halves control attack but they stuffed it.

He's a long way from where he was, but he's not helped by the way we're playing at the moment. So much one out stuff from the forwards, and the halves (and Teddy) are very rarely loitering in and around the ruck waiting for second phase ball.

He was awesome on the weekend as a dummy half cum prop. He makes great metres. Maybe he should actually become a lock when Ballin returns.

The issue with Farah is that he can't pass off the ground fluently anymore. He does't engage the markers and create space for the forwards and halves like he used to.

After watching some of the games since his return I believe our halves struggle with the slow service. He is still our best number 9 but I feel we have to change. I think he would be smart to sign a 4 year deal and finish in England as the game has passed him by at elite NRL level.

Compare him to Jake Granville or Josh Hodgson from Canberra and the is miles behind the best hookers.

Your right Vlad, he had the little turn of foot which got him through.

In fact he looks really quick in some of those clips.

Just seems like ages since we have seen anything like it.

Its gone now clearly.

He looks him a shadow of his former self.

Like someone said, a Hindmarsh late in his career. A plooder that tackles everything but has lost all spark.

It's sad seeing our 2 greatest players (Farah and Marshall) over the last 10 years falter like they have… Even sadder that they don't acknowledge it

That's assuming Ballin, now aged 32, is going to be any better coming off an ACL reco.
