Robert Lui Incident/Contract Thread

Look at the Raiders, they gave into the NRL and public opion and sacked Carney and didnt that come back to bite them. Their is no point in showing him the door only to see another club swoop on him and of course when your down the best place to be is with your mates. He needs to be around strong role models like Farah Marshall Payten and Rhino.

If he felt for family reasons he wanted to head north well than thats a different matter. Anyway lets wait and see what happens in court before jumping to conclusions and lets hope it dose not drag on like Stewart's case.

Carney felt he had the Raider's Bluff that's why he didn't toe the line and cave into the Raider's management demands, it took the realisation that he had blown it when he was de-registered and then refused a visa to go and play in the UK, which was his escape clause before it all finally sunk in.
In the lead up to the GF we all read the stories about how hard poor Todd did it in Atherton, how some of the locals belted the crap out of him etc etc, I never thought I'd say this but perhaps Carney should have a quiet talk to talk with Robert about the consequences if you throw it all away.
Carney didn't have all the extra baggage that Robert has, Robert has a partner and a child on the way, if he can see the error of his ways then he too will be on the path to redemption, another thing I think the reason that Robert wasn't sacked because he had been out on the piss with the rest of his team mates in a sanctioned booze up.

Im sure he is very regretful of what happened after a night drinking.

I agree it isnt right for WT to simply allow him to move directly to another club. He is part of the WT family and we shouldnt dump him or on him for a mistake.

Melb wasnt gonna dump Inglis

I wonder how many people would be on here calling for the player to be sacked (or shot) if it was Fitzy or Beau?!

I hope everything works out for Lui, his family and the club.

Horrible article in the weekend paper, saying that Lui has been stood down from all WT training and events and is looking good for a move to NQ. Pity if true, he was starting to look good at 7.

doesnt matter how good a player is look what happened to monaghan with canberra and what he did wasnt even bad compared to Lui's offence and they punted him.

* ALLEGED offence!!!!!!

If the ALLEGED offence is proven true he dosn't deserve a 2nd chance , no one deserves a second chance for what he ALLEGEDLY did.

I've merged the "lui 2010" contract thread with the main "lui incident" thread because they are so closely linked.

Please keep all lui discussion in this thread only

lol at taking a forum so serious

Did you want to handle a law suit from Robert Lui or the Wests Tigers and are you happy for this forum to turn to a gutter forum like LU?

yea i get that

it just seems funny to me how you guys are so serious and made an official statement

Just seems like the post was made not because you are worried about a possible law suit and more about its been a long time since you have used your authority

could have just closed the thread down if you were really worried

were you ever on the old grandstand forums, back when it was the biggest RL forum on the internet? Back before someone carelessly posted something which resulted in the site being sued by a large sydney radio station.

Players and officials do actually read and post on this forum and would not hesitate in sounding an alarm if careless stuff was posted here, especially since the media have built stories from what gets posted (plus users being quoted). Considering the circumstances of the case and the fact that it is being heard in a Court then yes, this forum is definitely taking it seriously.

who are the players using the forum?

Again, that's not open for discussion here. Users have a right to anonymity.

who does Rob LUI train with ?
who monitors his fitness and ensures he is doing the same regime all the other players are doing ?
.
would appear to be it is a case of you look after yourself, and if it all works out, hopefully you are fit enough to play first grade.

WEST Tigers halfback Robert Lui is back together with his pregnant girlfriend - who he is accused of assaulting, robbing and trying to choke in the hours after his team was knocked out of the NRL finals.
>
Lui has successfully applied for a variation to his bail conditions so that he can contact Taleah Rae Backo, who is five months pregnant with their child, and return to their home in Abbotsford, in Sydney's Inner West.
>
Ms Backo, 21, sat quietly during the application in Burwood Local Court yesterday. The court was told she did not oppose his application.
>
Lui, 20, sat on the opposite side of the courtroom and the couple left in separate cars.
>
He has been charged with nine offences, including two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, three of common assault, one of malicious damage, one of choking with intent to commit an indictable offence, one of detaining for advantage and one of aggravated robbery.
\
\
Lui, who was stood down by the club after being charged, went to Campsie police station in the early hours of September 26, after the Tigers lost their preliminary final 13-12 to St George Illawarra.
>
After being charged by police, Lui was granted bail of $6000 on the condition he did not contact Ms Backo and that he reside at an address at Chiswick.
>
Lui has vowed to vigorously defend the charges, but did not comment to media as he left the court yesterday.
>
Under his revised bail conditions, Lui must continue to comply with an interim apprehended violence order, including that he not assault, intimidate or harass Ms Backo. The matter was adjourned to December 20.
