Round 1 2017

Iam still hopeful we are going to pull off another decent signing, maybe a good quality winger or maybe a good quality backrower.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us nab someone depending on Naiqama and Sirro, but "good quality" might be a stretch.

On the other hand, we might save our pennies to see who pops up cheap like ET did.

I'd rather switch Kev to the left centre and push Simona to the wing and give that a try first but if Kev is off to England then this is probably our best option. Wish Addo Carr didn't leave

Good team Marzie and probably close to the best we can field first up, with no other signings on the horizon. I'd put Justin Hunt on the wing in place of Rankin though.

I would agree with this but i still have massive doubts about Ballin being available for more than a few games. I feel Liddle will probably be thrown into being our starting hooker earlier than we would hope for even though he is long term 9

1\. James Tedesco - Had an excellent 2016, until the injury saw his season end.
2\. David Nofoaluma -Started slow, was part of the RHS defence problems. Finish the season strong.
3\. Jamal Idris - positive signing, unknown how he will go in 2017.
4\. Tim Simona - Solid in 2016
5\. ??? Kevin -Attacking weapon, defensive liability. defence in 2017 is paramount, so Kev may go.
6\. Mitchell Moses - Stepped up in 2016\. Should continue to improve in 2017.
7\. Luke Brooks - Overshadowed by Moses. Defence improved in 2016, didn't standout as a leader
8\. Aaron Woods ©- great in middle defence. Ave 150 meters in attack. Our best forward.
9\. ??? Matt Ballin- Fitness unknown. will most likely play the first 20mins and come back on late in the game
10\. Tim Grant- Started 2016 strong, wasn't the same after a bad knock in Round18\. maybe Ava to start.
11\. Elijah Taylor - Big defensive year in 2017\. ET to strengthen the RHS defence, with Moses & Idris
12\. Chris Lawrence - went well in the 2nd row. however shouldn't play 80mins. shouldn't play all 24 games.
13\. Sauaso Sue - By having Sue at Lock and two props on, we will have more muscle on the paddock.

14\. Josh Aloiai- did well in 2016 for a 20yr old, however we need more out of a second rower.
15\. JJ Felise- looking forward to seeing more of this guy in 2017
16\. Ava Seumanufagai - Ava to step up as a starting prop during 2017.
17\. Jacob Liddle. comes on after 20 mins

18th Man- Youngsters looking Making the Leap: Esan Marsters, Bayley Sironen, Junior Tatola and Ryland Jacobs

If we could somewhow nab **Vince Vaughan**, that would be massive ! Also hopefully Paseka gets to make his debut sometime next season and replicate what he's been doing in NYC. He is a real x-factor forward we could really use in our top 8 push.

I don't know Tony, Vince Vaughan seems a little chubby and unfit to me

We could use a bit of size in our pack…

We should buy Sam Thiaday then.
Him and the cow that he ate recently , should make up for the weight deficit in no time.

We do not agree on many thing Steve,

I suppose you get it wrong a lot but at least you've got it right on Kev. One concern is that Idris can be an issue defensively as well. Yes he is big and can hit but he can be stood up as well.

That's why I can't understand why some think that he'l improve our defence,
He's always had problems in getting to anyone who doesn't just run straight at him, and I can't see him being any better in this incarnation.
In attack, he may be an asset,(but it depends which Idris turns up on the day,) but in defence, unless there has been a massive improvement, he is more likely to cost us points , especially near the line.and we already have enough problems there.

I think your on the money here marzie.

I personally would go with a Utility on the bench for Round 1 i would go with Michael Chee Cam.

We are really strong though up the middle. Woods is one of the top props in the game and we won't lose much if anything when Ava and Felise come on.

If that's the case, why do we get easily rolled in the middle by any large pack?

The first point is that this statement isn't true. We handled the Cowboys and Warriors just fine last season. They have big packs.

We do get rolled sometimes but I think that was primarily against Canberra and maybe Penrith. I think we were rolled out wide just as much as up the middle. One area we lack is a prop/lock forward that has some impact. Players like Taupau and Shannon Boyd can get a team rolling up the middle and then it's hard to stop.

Still we just have to work with what we have which is an awesome combination of middle forwards. I think playing ET on the right edge may help as well. Hopefully that way he could play 80 minutes as he'd have less involvement and we can use all our middle forwards to belt it up hopefully relatively fresh throughout the game.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about - You ramble on and on and on….

If we're as strong up the middle as you say - Why did we rank 15th for metres made this season.
And in the top 5 for long range tries.

Please stop talking your ill thought out garbage.... PLEASE!!
- You're giving me cancer....

We get rolled by the big boppers on a regular basis , and have done so for years.
Occasionally we will stand up to a bigger team, but it never lasts for long before we are back to our marshmallow defence.
It seems like it's endemic in this club, as no one has been able to toughen our team up
For an extended length of time.
Teams are used to strolling through our line defence, almost whenever they want to.
Some of the tries against us are an embarrassment for a first grade team.
It's been sald before by a lot of people, we are soft
What is worse is that we don't seem to know what to do about it

I haven't really been a fan of moving ET into the backrow, but i just can't see us competing in the forwards with Lawrence and Aloiai. I'd go Sue to lock, ET into the backrow and Ava into the starting side.

I think ET would provide much better value playing out wider.Played mostly 2nd row for the warriors, runs decent lines, good offload and can score the odd try, would tighten up the defence out wider as well,on the other hand playing him as lock and using him basically as a tackling machine in the middle limits his game and also takes pressure off other players to make tackles or make the extra effort.

Yep but i think still limits his attacking side of the game,we are in need of a better than average 2nd row forward and ET could fill it.
