Yeah that blows. He is one of few non-tigers players I enjoy watching

Liddle brought the forward on to the ball much better, he is a step above Simpkin but the kid is good, just raw. Liddle has got his body right, he will be the starter for sure and certain.

Simpkin needs a little bit more composure which he will find with some footy under his belt.

The play he got tackled on the line after dummying wasnt on him, Fitzgibbon just gave up on the play and walked back into line, leaving Jake with no option but go himself.

Thats my view from the sideline right in front of it. It was all on Fitzgibbon. Very amateurish and disappointing from him. But thats what theyve told us about his attitude so no surprise.

I would have Jake Simpkin on the bench after re;watching the trial, I would be close to having Simpkins as well.

Liddles experience shone thru in the trial

Didnt overplay his hand, just did his job with crisp passes and dh run

On the otherhand simpkims was also good but tried to do that little extra to impress madge....

The vibe I got, was that that is what experience looks like. Liddle knows what he has to do in an NRL game, get the pigs rolling etc whereas without that experience Jake is still "look at me! Im Harry 2.0 dammit". (Im exaggerating to make the point, Simpkin did nothing wrong).

yes exactly. Simpkin just wants a run and showed it. It was good to see, now we see how quickly he adapts. All up he was impressive, just needs to pick his time better. after the covid season, it was a good outing from him. Good skill set

I think Madge direction is go straight down the middle. Tuki and Jake definitely played that way which sure the coach would be happy with. Those two boys had a nice little combo for the short time they Were on.

I watched a few trials and there were some others doing that as well. It seems that is where coaches see an opportunity with the rule changes as fatigue sets in or fast play the balls happen.

IMO its simplistic t call late 80's Balmain boring. Sure they werent flashy but they belted teams into submission, and thats fun to watch (Brisbane were our lap dogs back then because of it)

Look I don’t think a reserve grade trial is going to have a lot of team structure going, it’s more than likely madge told them to treat it as a game of back yard footy because I did not see a clear game plan out there

What was clear to me was he was a level above the opposition & he’s only 19 years old
