In my opinion Faatape showed an occasional trend last year of defending (especially positioning) poorly early and being able to adjust during a game. This was equal parts worrying and encouraging, hoping that with a bit more experience now that he doesn't panic against Best.

Sharpe has me more worried than Ponga and Best. Although maybe that's expected given he ripped us a new one last year.

My memory of that game was that they beat us by 50. In actual fact it was 34 - 18 and they played great footy while we were average. Bizarrely seeing that they beat us comfortably rather than flogged us gives me more hope! Tigers fan damage.

The team sure is due a win against newy.
Can't recall the team's last win against them..
The centre pairing for the Tigers is a real issue but no other options due to injury.
Containing Ponga will be a focus of the game plan hopefully.

I asked recently who would be our goal kicker (Doueihi not on the radar then) for round 1.
Was advised on this forum Luai can kick goals.
Don’t think he’ll be doing that for a while, if at all. Hope AD kicks like he did last week and JL can focus on doing what he’s been brought here to do.

I think attack has to be our focus in this game. Galvin and Luai causing havoc, getting the ball spread hard and fast.

Defensively, we aim at their weak halves pairing and keep pushing them back.

I think this is a winnable game and we need to start the year strong, making a statement.
not a chance attack is our focus. if we try and get in a shootout Newcastle will tear us to shreds.

we need to come prepared for a dogfight. the only way we can beat them is thru the middle and with Galvin and Luai kicking them to death.

So one of AD or Faataape against Bradman Best who tore Naden a new one last time. Going to need to immense Turuva jamming me think to shut Best down.
our entire right edge is a mismatch for their left. Sharpe has the speed and instinct to get outside of Seyfarth with ease, Galvin will struggle to contain Lucas, Best on Faataape is already giving me nightmares and the less said about Turuva on Marzhew, the better.

the only way we win this game is limit their momentum via contact and linespeed and continually turn their forwards around.

Getting tested with depth early. Not a great sign when you’re starting centre Faatape is a development player. Man he’s played some games just for a development contract.

There is no chance we can go around them out wide, looks like we have to try and beat them through the middle, hope our forwards are up for a dogfight and turn on the power game.
