They have a Kool nick name too.I have been drinking them since I was a kid. Was able to have a beer with the old man on Sunday evening over dinner from when I was 13. Switched between Silver Bullets and DA until the old man changed over to the old KB Kegs. Which, by the way, I have found both on tap and in cans over the last ten to fifteen years in limited runs. They started doing limited runs of DA a couple of years back - but you need to have your finger on the pulse as they get snapped up pretty quickly.
When Tooths was purchased by CUB they continued to make bullets but changed the recipe (probably just the hops) and they, along with Reschs on Tap, went downhill. Fortunatley us Reschs guys revolted (or are revolting) and lobbied to get it back. We were successful and eventually some guys in Sydney started up the Reschs Appreciation Society. As a member I get discounts on Reschs in plenty of pubs up and down the coast.
Silver Bullets are also one of the few beers that taste better out of a tin than they do in stubby (in my opinion at least). I brew my own beer and primarily drink that; but always have a stack of Bullets in the fridge for watching the footy, and because Resch's Pilsner is one beer I have not been able to find a decent clone recipe for.
I do make a lot of older style beers - my go to is Tooths White Horse Ale from the 1930's. If is the first keg to go no matter who is over!
Sorry for the interlude on game day; back to the footy!
