I think I got thrown off by you switching up Ava and Grant.

Yeah, I thought Ava's at the age he should be starting and Grant faded (after injury) towards the end of last season. Grant coming off the bench at the start of the season should freshen him up to start when Woods is off for SOO duties.

would like to throw a Smokey into the team, I think he may be better than jj felise. his name is TATOLA I think he may be one out of the box, takes the ball up hard and is a good if not a great defender yet, has a good motor. think if he gets a chance he may well take it with both hands. what do u all think?

No harm in putting him into the 21 man squad, and if things go pear shaped, throw him in.

Would love to see a big tall fast winger who was very solid in the air, sadly I do think we have one on our books. Maybe Suli will fit the bill but one thing for certain Souths and every other team will bomb the crap out of our wingers with Nofo being the no1 target

Moses Suli isn't small at 189cm actually he is the biggest winger we have,
Rankin 183cm, Nofo 180cm, Kev 179cm.

When push come to shove the 17 that run onto ANZ to play Souths will basically be the same side as last year with possibly Suli as the only 1st gamer. Of course with the exception of Idris. History tells me coaches very seldom take to many risks and I guess the salary cap also restricts second tier signings this early in the season

I do not think that Sue has the agility and one on one defence to play as an edge back rower. I would play ET there to start, with Sue at lock defending in the middle. After 20 mins Aloiai can come on for Sue, play on the edge with ET moving to the middle.

Agreed on Sue. I feel he is a tight forward as he wont get as much footwork thrown at him.

On the other suggestions, I really hate how we make so many changes to defensive structure throughout a match. Granted some variations are required as its not possible to interchange like-for-like, but limiting the change in structure will go along way in seeing greater consistency in defense.

Its probably 'old school' thinking, but having the guy inside and outside you on a more regular basis is vital to interpreting adjustments/behaviour.

I love K-Naq, and he looks to have gotten RIPPED over summer, however if Suli Lives up to potential, an MCK takes the chance, I think it's a strong side. - I agree with many others on here in saying MCK is a better all round player, and will be a closer fit to replacing Simona.

In my team Idris will go the full 80 as well. :smiley:
