LIVE GAME Round 11 vs. Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
Our approach of simple, low risk football leads to 90% completion and a high possession rate but it doesn't lead to points. It's time to loosen the reins and be more creative but again, I ask the question, is the problem the halves or the coaching? My view is it's both.

We are plodding along when we need to play attacking footy and Sheens has stated that is the only way to win games over the course of the season. It's not just the halves either. Bula and Api didn't create anything. If you look at Souths a lot of their plays come off players other than the halves. Graham and Latrell play big roles in Souths scoring.

We need some class in our backline desperately. To'a was great today. AJ looked good when he came on. Nofo worked hard. We just lack that spark.

Don't get me wrong if we could get Hynes and Cleary as our halves we'd win a lot more games.

Won against Panther in the rain. Should of lost last week if Dragons didn't screw it up.

South's are good but that doesn't mean you don't the most you can to win. Good defence and completions should be standard.

If they don't have the talent to do a backline move then why are they in the team?

And replace them with who? …

This is the problem … the backs at the club to put it bluntly suck…

You can’t make chicken salad out of chicken s**t…

It's all we have mate. I agree with your point. You are spot on. It's just what can you do.

To be fair to the club as well we have Tupou, To'a, Bula, Kepaoa and Talau who are all starting their careers and some of them may turn into very handy players.

Minus a couple of late Bunnies tries we stayed well in a game most gave us absolutely no hope of winning. We don't have any match winners like Mitchell but we hung in there and did a lot better than anyone thought we would, or could! Very proud of the boys effort despite the loss.

Yeah I thought Brooks was ok.

Talau is too slow at centre. Twice he had space and barely ran at all.

Not a fan of Wakeham. Never runs the ball at all and passes 3 m before the line.

Bula, Nofa, Toa and Tupou I'm good with.

It's mainly the tactics that annoyed me.
The players never had a chance to win if that was what the coaching staff wanted in attack.
I agree, I have been wanting Wakeham to get a run but he really disappointed me today .. you would think that he would take this opportunity with both hands and show us what he has got .. but he seems to want to just play a structure and let someone else do it all .. sad because he has all the skill amd can can really run when he sets his mind to it .. today he look d like he was not interested and didn’t want to take a hit .. weird

Shame Staines is out, we may have bagged a try if he was there today.

Offa running as hard as a plastic bag blowing the wind today!
He must've been close to making negative total metres today the amount of times he got driven back.

I was rather proud of the boys today , they stuck to there task, against a side that scores for fun .
That said we are terrible in attack , I just don’t get it any a-grade coach can see what’s going wrong , so how the hell can sheens and co not see the problem

Some people seem to be expecting them to throw the ball around like the 2005 team..

I don’t see Benjis, Scott Prince or Hodgsons in this backline ..:
I don't expect that either but I also haven't seen any of that attacking flair Sheens was talking
about before the comp started.

Yeah I know but it's week 11 surely after that plus two months of preseason we can do something with the ball.

Like to hear from the coach and see how Tim justifies getting into a grind with the best attacking team with no thought on how to actually score points. Didn't see one thing where they looked like scoring.

Wakeham is a big problem for me in the team.

There must be a permanent rain cloud above the CoE and all we practise is wet weather footy

I honestly think they’ve broken it down right back to basics. As much as I don’t want to admit, he’s achieved more than what Madge tried to do on a consistent basis. (Helps with a much better forward pack and a very capable 1) The team looks very solid except for attacking in the 20. If we keep along this path we’ll see more expansive play late in the season with improvement next year.

I really don't think we played that badly. Souths didn't give us an inch and the ref did all he can to keep them on top while preventing us from building any momentum. Every single 50/50 went Souths' way, he didn't call a forward pass of theirs and gave them pretty soft penalties.

Brooks and Wakeham played as well as you could expect a halves pairing to do in a game where we scored 0. Brooks had his characteristic few clangers, but both kicked well and structured our sets pretty well. We moved up and down the field well but lacked the final product. I do think if we played this way against the majority of teams we'd have walked away with a win.

Beats me either. Get to the 70th minute and realise hang on we can't do 4 hits ups and kick to the corner? What do we do?

What are the coaches doing up there?
