LIVE GAME Round 11 vs. Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
Proud of the effort
Disappointed in the game plan. 4 Hitups and a kick all day. Surely we can throw 1 backline move in a set at least
Or an offload. What's the point of busting your gut if your not achieving your goals. Like they were playing with one arm behind their back.

Yeah I know but it's week 11 surely after that plus two months of preseason we can do something with the ball.

Like to hear from the coach and see how Tim justifies getting into a grind with the best attacking team with no thought on how to actually score points. Didn't see one thing where they looked like scoring.

Wakeham is a big problem for me in the team.

I'm okay with Wakeham right now. I think he is our best option unless Sheens can pull something out of the bag but I don't know with the squad we have.

I'm not sure how much is coaching but we don't seem to be trying to attack and if we continue grinding every win is going to be tough.

Did you listen to the coaching conference this week ? Sheens stated we need to attack because you can't beat the good teams without attacking but we came up with nothing. I'd like to hear details about what he is doing to create a better attack without giving away tactics for each game.

Bateman can create points. I think IP can make a bust as well. I'd like to see them use those edges more. I'd also like to see Tupou and To'a getting some more chances.

Am I the only one who thinks stuffs any ball playing? He doesn't like getting tackled so he always passes early and 2-3 metres before the line. The defence just moves out.

Absolute crazy that he's here for the rest of the year.

If Tommy talau plays next week that would be a good win for the cowboys
Talau did a couple of good things tonight.
Surprisingly.

I'm not a fan at all though.
He's like MCK but slower and less threatening.

Thankfully we didn't rush out and extend him.
Farewell.

It was a tough effort from us .against probaly best side in comp
Not blaming anyone
I just want us to Click in attack
3 games now with the same old 4 up .then sideways .plus a kick .
Unsure what sheens plans are nxt .
Think most of us should be happy with our defence for 70 mins

Yet another loss directly attributed to the Tigers coaching egos by deciding to field a NRL team in 2023 with zero halves talent. Thanks Sheens and Bunji, you muppets. First class forward pack Top 5 with any other half back. Benji's wasnt exactly known for having the best IQ in his playing days, now directly see it translated into his coaching.

Talent. We just don’t have the backs to trouble teams . It’s lack of ability not lack of effort

This is what I reckon as well. At the same time we do need to attack more. We appear to be playing with tactics designed to keep us in the game. When we had to score To'a who was good threw a poor pass and I think Souths scored soon after that.

Bula's shown flashes of brilliance and is obviously an immense talent but there's still going to be work for him to do to become a top fullback, especially in the ball-playing department and when to inject himself into attacking zones. Our halves are pretty poor - Brooks is Brooks and Wakeham is a guy who's a min wager who's not really a first grader or a fringe one at best.

We however have an exceptional pack and backs who are specialists at making metres. Our game is going to be grinding footy whether we like it or not until we improve our halves and Bula has another season under his belt. I was pretty sceptical about our coaching staff but I've got a lot more confidence in them over the last few weeks because I think they're starting to realise that the issue is our halves and if we can build a system that is able to dominate field position, the final piece of the puzzle will be inserting those halves who can create points. It's also why they're after veterans rather than young guys for the halves - proven performers who we know can create points will put this team in the top 8.

Consistently winning the field position battle is a proven formula for success. Penrith have barely lost in the past few years by suffocating teams. Plus it's something which is consistent from game to game. Relying on star playmakers always leaves you vulnerable when they have a shocker - we should know this well - Benji and Farah were awesome in their primes but we didn't have long-term success because Benji was never the most consistent and our forwards rarely won the battle up the middle with the exception of 2010 and 11. Of course we won games we had no right winning because of them, but from game to game and season to season, you'll find the team that wins the field position will win more games and have more successful seasons.

Funny because abc Radio gave wakeham 2 points in their 3,2,1s
Wakeham would of been bottom two.

He does not like getting tackled. Serious. You re-watch when he gets the ball he passes as quick as he can and he passes before the line so early there would be no possibility of a overlap.

Almost comical.

I was rather proud of the boys today , they stuck to there task, against a side that scores for fun .
That said we are terrible in attack , I just don’t get it any a-grade coach can see what’s going wrong , so how the hell can sheens and co not see the problem

Yes we defended very well “ forwards matched the Bunnies easy , but once we get down to teams red zones we can’t score points , it’s every game , We need a Ben Hunt at Half , Brooks at 5/8 and a strike centre to improve

Good post but I think you are letting the coaching staff off a little bit. They have to get us playing some attacking footy as well.

I think we need some gun halves but we also need players like Bula, To'a, Tupou to develop into consistent quality first graders.
