Wests Tigers won't let their 64-point embarrassment at the hands of Melbourne define their season, with coach Benji Marshall saying the team is more switched on now after the wake-up call.
The Tigers mentor didn't shy away from their poor performance in round 10, but maintained the 64-0 drubbing hadn't impacted the mood on the training paddock.
The former Tigers star even suggested the Melbourne mauling could improve the attitude of his team, saying he's noticed much-needed lifts in the week's preparations.
"If anything, it (the loss) has probably switched us on a little bit more," Marshall said on Friday.

"I've seen improvements in the intensity at training, guys individually doing a bit more.
"So probably what we needed, didn't really want it but sometimes you need those things to see where you're at."
Marshall insists what happened in Melbourne can't be seen as a one-off, instead must learn the lessons quickly and be determined not to embarrass themselves again.
The 10th-placed Tigers enter their clash with 11th-placed South Sydney on Sunday with an even five-and-five record.
Marshall is confident there's a lot more upside to come.
"You can't just push it to the side and pretend it didn't happen, otherwise you don't learn from it," the former playmaker added.
"So for us it's learn the things that we need to be better at and be embarrassed by it, hurt from it, but then use that to what you do for the next week.
"I remember playing the way you want to come out the next week and I've seen some good things in training off the back of it."
Star fullback Jahream Bula agreed, saying his team needed to feel the disappointment of the loss but not let it sour the preparations before facing a resurgent Rabbitohs.

"Benji said after the game we should be disappointed but don't dwell on it," Bula said on Friday.
"There were a lot of lessons in that game defensively and in our attack, but we're pretty confident going into this week."
Bula's opposite number at the Rabbitohs, Latrell Mitchell, is coming off a starring role in his team's win over Brisbane and the Tigers fullback says stopping Mitchell early is the key to weakening his influence.
"When we give Latrell a lot of space he can do pretty big things for his team and once he gets into that mode it's hard to stop him," Bula said.
"So just try and get into him early, I guess."
Bula is happy to say he models parts of his game on the Rabbitohs talisman and is most impressed by Mitchell's ability to impact the game defensively.
"I think last week he (Mitchell) saved two big tries that could have won the Broncos the game, so that's something I definitely try to model."

Nice. Sendai, Yamagata and Tokyo myself from mid 80s to the 90s.
Currently just east of Mt Tsurugi, doing the Super Rindo Forest Road tomorrow to end up in Okawa, north of Kochi. All up 3 weeks in Shikoku n Kyushu
Have driven 439 a few times in the WRX back in the day, some crazy corners and scenery thru there also the ramen joints. Wed better smash the slime on Sunday and make your trip more fun leading into the bye.

Reading the tea leaves of Benji's presser & team selections (NRL & Cup), I will anticipate ...

Naden a late out (2 weeks off will help his recovery from any lingering knee issue)
Hope to come in

Lovodua is listed as 18th man in NSW Cup so would replace Hope on bench there. He can play hooker if TDS needs a rest & lock so provides versatility for the Magpies.

Can't tell if they'll bounce back or just roll over on Sunday. Sounds like the lineup will be a little different too

TDS being dropped to get more match fitness makes sense, and it's actually good coaching. He's still a developing player and the minutes in cup will do him good

Just been through the Rabbitohs forum, apparently rabbits are doing some pretty intense training and looking to target Galvin just like storm did. Lots of trell mit cut outs to AJ for tries and them practicing goal line defense yelling out korisau, korisau! So obviously working on that. Anyone here go to tigers training to see if the boys are digging in?

439 is amazing. Would recommend it to anyone just for its scenery let alone the road itself.
Great time on the Super forest road but just b4 Okawa got a flat.
Luckily the Diahatsu dealer fixed it pronto. What surprised me though is there are zero bike mechanics here in the countryside.
