TEAM LIST Round 12 vs. Cowboys

Team List
Tigers line up trimmed to 19. No major news with Matamua, Laurie and James cut from the extended bench. For Cowboys Luciano appears to be confirmed on the extended bench.

The forum seems to be writing off Laurie ? I always thought he had signs of being creative could run into a gap etc .
Now I remember Peachy last year was mocked and derided and spent most of the year in ressies or bench but now he's a regular starting center with Penrith who aren't a bad side by the way and he seems to be revered there. Jock nearly pulled off a couple of big plays with the Broncos last night although the key word here is "nearly"
What is it with Tigers players who have made a mark elsewhere come here and time and time again its a bust !
We fail to sign the Munsters and Johnsons and I think our reputation as a laughing stock as Hooper called us this week is amplified by all of the above

One thing I'd state is that it's hard to have an unbiased assessment of players performances. I've watched Peachy a little and he hasn't been very good. Madden hasn't done much. Hastings who was the golden child and I loved doesn't look that good.

I think the idea that we are a laughing stock is 100% true but I think it's more to do with poor recruitment and retention decisions consistently over time which has led to us being this bad. I think a real turning point though was putting Jason Taylor and Ivan Cleary in charge of our team. I think they screwed us so bad it's taken years to get back to where we are at now which isn't good.

I think Madge didn't screw us over at all.

We are only a laughing stock on this forum. Only in the eyes of our so called supporters. Our team is very well liked otherwise.

Oh no we are definitely a laughing stock. “Well liked” in a pitiful sense perhaps, but a laughing stock nonetheless

Madge signed the worst Wests Tiger of all time (Robert Jennings). Other than that, he recruited okay.
Agree to disagree, our ex-coach was happy to do nothing and keep acquiring mediocre players, same-old same-old, and then rinse and repeat.
Under him, our defence which was solid under Cleary, became the worst ever, while he kept rotating the same hopeless players without trying anything new. And he was doing it for three years. The team looked uninspired, bitten even before the start of the game.
IMHO, that was more than enough reason to get Sheens, who immediately started the transformation, he strengthened the foundation and "invented" Bole, Tupou, Pole, James, Matamoa, Kepaoa and suddenly To'a found his mojo. Arguably, the job is not finished, and our halves are obvious weaknesses, but there is a reason to be an optimist for a change.

St.George [Illawarra] could be desperate enough if they have any spots left.
They've got better options already available.

I think Sloane could be a star - seems solid, good person.

Ramsay might come back? Not sure.

Then they've got Sullivan who they've seemed to bulked up to play 9... but yeah, I can't see em taking Laurie.. or any club for that matter.

I don't dislike him, I just don't think he has it.

I agree with you everything you said. I dunno what you're disagreeing with me about. Surely you agree that Robert Jennings is the worst player to ever play for us.

Maybe We have bought to many players that have not been mentally strong enough to stay at the high level they were at when We purchased them, and certainly weren't able to inspire their teammates.
Instead, they have gone down to the level of some of the players around them.
