LIVE GAME Round 17v Manly

Live Game Discussion
Has anyone ever at training since U7's come off a 2 step run up? There is something amiss here, I'm willing to bet that what is being practiced isn't ebing executed; but why?
It has to be what is practiced @Jolls as it’s happened for too long not to be. Surely Benji can see this style is not working. It gives our halves no time & space and no depth in attack.

This is a really bad moment for our club...

The results haven't been there but we've hidden behind close score lines. In reality, our play is declining this year, attack still lacking and players like TDS, Galvin (before he left and Samuela (promising young players) are all declining.

The thing that gets me about our play is our hesitancy and indecisiveness, especially in the forwards. Players seem in two minds all the time about where to be and what to do, out players take hit ups really deep and flat footed and it's almost like they don't expect it.

Then there are our incredibly slow play the balls where our players stop and have a chat with a referee before actually playing it.

Then there's all the tampering and switching by Benji giving them even less sense of trust.

We look like the worst team in the comp. Slow, weak and dumb. Plenty of good players look poor. I don't like to blame coaches, but they have a responsibility to get us better or walk away.

Last year I saw a 'training' session and it was random and half hearted beside API and Sullivan. Lots of standing around, lots of choppy stop start transitions and very little that looked like it linked together.

That was diabolical.
Terrell is great but [This word has been automatically removed] me watching him get up and play the ball while yapping to the ref for 10 seconds irks me to no end. Mate just get on with it you play for the Tigers anyways you won't get a set restart. Just [This word has been automatically removed]s up our attack even more

Exactly. May and Pole in particular were easily outplayed by their opposites. Once again I bring it back to coaching. Earn the right to ball play by winning the middle first. It just never happened tonight. They were too busy fluffing around instead of charging through the middle and then getting up for quick play the balls.
May thinks he is a 5/8. loves passing the ball .Thats why he cannot be in origin team. Front rowers job is simple but hard. Run hardv and straight. Make metres and quick play the ball.

From what I heard here during the offseason was much of the same 'training' you're talking about

We are the worst team in the comp mate...

I think one of the most embarrassing things I hear quite often is how all the players talk about how Benji 'jumps in' with them at training. No other head coach would do that shit. It's childish and reeks of an inexperienced coach, he can be their mate but he also has to be their boss. Doing set plays among them just carving them up isn't helping anybody and honestly makes them view him as one of the boys/players instead of their coach.
Well sign him up and put a jumper on him, maybe he’d be more use on the field than off. This type of coaching indicates a doer not a teacher and that’s not what you need !

No he was considered maybe he did an interview but they decided to go Mal with Gardiner joining him as an assistant. Des is done as a coach you can’t have the likes of Tino, Fifita, AKP, Brimson, Campbell as well as other talented players they have and be dead last. It might not be a premiership winning team it’s sure not a bottom 4 team on paper for them. Brad is the only one available that we can make a claim for for a new coach, otherwise Benji most likely gets the job for next year.
Or Richo does his best to get Lee Briers back to Australia. He was Broncos assistant coach in ‘23 responsible for attack. Had that team humming that year. Left to go back to UK for personal reasons.

This is the issue. Samuela does it too. They don't know their role, they're not given structure. Samuela fields a bomb and 10 out from our line hesitates in his runs looking to pass. He gets turned a little and play the ball is slow. He wasn't going to make a line break or anything but with no hesitation and a clear focus he pushes through the tackle and could create a quick play the ball. As it was, everything was slowed down and it was another poor attacking set.

It's all improvisation, players getting in each other's way, props ball playing for props, hookers passing to no one, players moving too late, no sense of constructing a set of six, working as a collective, thinking about the next play the ball. It's just dumb disorganised football.

And then to see us lift briefly at 16-4 was the biggest indictment of them all. I seriously found that more annoying than the previous part of the game, because it highlighted that they can actually play with energy, they just weren't.

Im sick of them only aiming up when the game is beyond us, it is amateur.

Tonight showed the majority of our top 30 players are NOT NRL standard….we need to acknowledge that and move on those players who will not make it and those who need further development, such as Luke, mason etc…should not see FG until they learn and develop in the lower grades

Haven’t watched it yet but I know what he usually says.
So do I, but tonight is a complete break from anything remotely real.

Like he was coaching another side, maybe in another sport…

I was expecting Richo to put his palm up to the camera lense and call it off!

Benj needs help, the delusion is complete.

We’ve finally driven him over the edge!

Ohhhh and worst of all bloody smug cronk and not funny Voss to talk us through the game. Yes Voss, bring up the bbq again, that is hilarious. And tell us again how bad the game is, because everyone's here to entertain you, and they're all just out there to setup one liners for you so you can go off on tangents rather than watching the game...boy, and I was going on about how the tigers have declined in play...Vossy, you are the worst!
