Great point. As fans, it feels like we’re screaming into the abyss. Mak and Sak have enormous attacking potential provided we actually have halves capable of creating the opportunities but what’s the value if they’re giving away twice as many tries as they score? That’s a negative return, plain and simple.
They need to learn the basics of defence. Being bigger, stronger and more athletic than everyone in the junior grades can make you look unstoppable in attack, but it can also hide massive deficiencies in your game. If you’ve never had to properly develop defensive technique, positioning and decision-making because your physical advantages were enough to dominate, this is the end result. Raw talent isn’t enough at NRL level.
