Great point. As fans, it feels like we’re screaming into the abyss. Mak and Sak have enormous attacking potential provided we actually have halves capable of creating the opportunities but what’s the value if they’re giving away twice as many tries as they score? That’s a negative return, plain and simple.

They need to learn the basics of defence. Being bigger, stronger and more athletic than everyone in the junior grades can make you look unstoppable in attack, but it can also hide massive deficiencies in your game. If you’ve never had to properly develop defensive technique, positioning and decision-making because your physical advantages were enough to dominate, this is the end result. Raw talent isn’t enough at NRL level.

So we have to win games 60 - 58 every week

On another note, I think you are a bit harsh on Saukuru. He definitely needs to work hard on his defence, but most young outside backs do. I think he has shown great promise in his 3 games

The issue is that he shouldn’t be playing in the NRL. He is not ready and has cost us dearly with his poor D. He’s not the only one. WTF was Mason doing, from the moment he came on he made one dumb move after another - the guy is so out of his league.
Too many weak links resulting from poor depth. With so many of our first choice players out the replacements are completely not at the standard required.
Tonight we got absolutely hammered by the ref and bunker - they did everything possible to keep us out of the game.
For the most part we played well tonight and tried hard.

Mak can tackle, he just makes poor decisions. A lot of poor decisions. And he's only 18.
Sak can't tackle at all and makes poor decisions. I think he might be a chicken.

I think Mak can be fixed. Sak, I doubt it.

The turning point for me was when they went the short side and Herbert tried a quick pass onto Junior who dropped it …

Junior had a good game otherwise …but they never really were in it after that ..

He’s got to mention the running the catcher off penalty that we copped. Not a minute later we have the same thing happen to us and they give try. Blatant inconsistency. 11 penalties against us. Nothing stopping him asking why it doesn’t go both ways.
