Not really, we had a halfback capable of directing the team this week, and absence of one last week.
This is a problem for the backs to fight out. People are underestimating the potential impact of this move on our pack. We are swapping Pole for Douhei, then moving our most inform forward Twal from #13 to #10.
How does that impact our go forward? Douhei doesnt hit the ball up like Pole or Twal. For the first 50 minutes, it isnt a good move.
How does the move impact Twals game? He is in the best form of his life. I wouldnt change a thing. #13 is his. He owns that jersey.
Would Douhei have the stamina to attack and defend at #13 for 80 minutes, whilst having the same sort of impact he had tonight? I doubt it.
We need to find a way to make it work with the bench. That might mean carrying Latu and Douhei on the bench.
I dont remember the last time we had a problem like this😂😂

For years, those last 5-10 before halftime have been our undoing…not so this year.
Been the opposite.
Terrific defense and resilience shown tonight.
And the confidence snd composure to go on with it.
Exemplified by Madden, through his control and kicking game.
That deft kick on the third tackle, 10mins into the 2nd half was a perfect illustration. Sublime.

In response, I don’t see why playing in the prop rotation should affect Twal’s current game too much. He can still run hard, offload and defend in the middle. AD should add more to the 13 in a ball player role. IMO Pole has better impact off the bench than when starting.
I am trying to squeeze Madden, Latu, AD and Luai into the 17 and can see them all playing minutes at some point in a game. Api playing less minutes providing time and space for them too.

I didn't expect my first post here to be so negative after the big win, but Madden's defence was not good.
You don't pick halves for defence, you coach structures and teach them to make good decisions so they don't have to make many one-on-one tackles. He was exposed brutally in defence in times, partly just because it was a new combination and he was targeted. If he's going to be there for a while it'll improve.
Nevertheless, excellent job at what he was selected for.

Top effort with a makeshift backline, little possession and a complete peanut refereeing. Everything set up for a big Warriors win but everyone stood up. Early doors but could be a season defining game.

Madden had a decent game, Doueihi had a massive bounceback game.
Luai is #6 if he is fit.
I don't think you can crown Madden the #7 after one decent performance. And the middle forwards match up too well to start moving them around.
The only place you shift Doueihi at this point is to centre. But I'm of the belief you just don't shift him at all. Let him play #7. Madden is a solid depth piece that finally makes us feel less horrified if someone has the sniffles.

It's not perfect but he's generally one of the best halves defenders. Last year he was great one on one. For me it's more about playing direct and less sideways. Having a left foot locker is needed as well.need T may back though.

I saw Douhie later in 2nd half out the back looking like we stuffed it. He came out of the back looking fully fit and making line breaks that leeds to trys. Benji ball 102

Our forwards won this game for us. I don't think I've seen better first contact technique across 80 minutes from a WT side. Well maybe 70 minutes lol. Tackling was superb, and you can see the side is also in excellent physical condition, because we really grew into that match as it went on.
Bench rotation has changed 2 games for us in a row now. Benji and the coaching team deserve credit for finally getting a tune out of Royce Hunt. (its like a new signing) Alex Twal is also going beyond being 'the new Skando.' He was superb.
Jock Madden did a great job, but he's gotta do more to enter the conversation as a starting half. He did his job, solid kicking game but not superior to AD. AD tho, goodness me what a natural footy player he is. I think the decision to drop Skelton was the right one too.

Jerome who....Well well all the expert pre game analysis on this forum!!! haha and the Tigers smoke the Warriors in there backyard.Man some people where really putting the boot in giving us zero chance, how good does it feel to be so wrong....though Ads played a cracker considering the injury cloud,Jock done his job and the young fellas are all the better for the experience.. Let's go Who next.. .🐯☝️

I'd hate to be in the trenches with anyone who posted in the first 6 pages of this thread.
Do you all give up that easily in day to day life?
People had us getting flogged, we'll lose by 40, it's gonna be a long night, the Benji experiment has failed (that was my favourite).
Then there's the people who gave up during the week because apparently we couldn't match the Warriors in any department and our forwards would be steamrollered.
What a negative collective of sad sacks.

I have the same feeling champion @Yossarian - this young team are just touching the sides as to what they can do.
